It’s been a long while since a video game manual made me laugh or feel warm inside. The Mario Maker manual is something else indeed.
Not only will you find some great tips on how to build courses in the Mario Maker manual…
You’ll also find stuff like this in there:
Aww, Nintendo. You’re so cute when you try to be my digital mum. <3

Wait. Wait. Wait. Is this coming with an *actual* manual??
As far as I know it’s only in the special edition but with any luck they start bringing game manuals back. Not going to get my hopes up though.
All versions get the manual, digital version gets a pdf, both standard and limited get a hardcover book (not 100% sure, standard might only get paperback book). Limited only has the 8bit Mario Amiibo.
Cool couldn’t remember if the standard edition came with the book or not, thanks for clarifying.
Not a fan of the digital manuals? I’ve found them to be pretty great. Having an index at the start is awesome.
Honestly forget they even exist. And no, not a fan at all. It’s just not the same. The smell, the feel, even the… handling? I dunno, I generally find reading multipage things on a screen to be kind of awkward and irritating. Much prefer having actual pages to lay out and flip between.
I would happily pay like an extra five bucks per gave to get a full colour manual with each of them.
To be honest, I’d stopped reading them mostly as nearly all games these days have an intro level or tutorial type bit at the start. Occasionally have a look at the controls but that’s it. That’s where the index comes in handy.
That’s the other thing actually. It’s part of the ritual and it’s missing now. Get the game home, pore over the manual and take in everything you can, then dive into the game 😛
360 games don’t count though. Those “manuals” are a joke.
Maybe it’s the in-game manual. So poor that boxed Nintendo games don’t have printed colour manuals any more.
doubtful this looks like the digital manual that comes with all Wii U games.
Brussel sprouts are garbage, though. Replace them with steamed spinach and beans instead.
I thought so too until I had them cooked right. Cut em in half, cook in butter and let them burn just the littlest bit (caramelisation). And I can’t spell that word.
I wish for a return to manuals.
All versions of the game get a manual, disc versions get one and even the digital version gets a pdf.
