KISS is back! In comics, that is. Long since the days of the Marvel Comics Super Special: KISS, Dynamite is bringing the rock band to life in a weird and wonderful new way with a new comic that will transport the band to a dark and dangerous future.

Penned by Amy Chu and with art by Kewber Baal, Dynamite’s new KISS series won’t just be a book about the band getting into wacky hijinks or what have you, but a quasi-post-apocalyptic adventure that images a dark future that is in both dire straights and seemingly can only be saved by the power of a time-displaced rock band:
In a world without sun and a world without heroes, four young friends embark on a dangerous mission — to uncover the truth about the mysterious Council of Elders and their underground home, the city of Blackwell. But first they need some help from the past…
If I had to recruit an entity from the past to save my ravaged future world, KISS probably wouldn’t be at the top of my list, but judging by the fact that one of the covers for the series’ first issue features a ton of giant power suits inspired by the band’s extravagant black-and-white makeup looks, maybe they are a good choice.
KISS #1 will be out this October.
