We already know that this year will be GX Australia’s last, after corporate sponsors pulled out on the gaming convention at the last moment. But at least one major company has jumped on board to make sure GX’s final event is a blast: Nintendo Australia.
Nintendo’s support is welcome, not just for the symbolism but also given the struggles GX Australia has had financially this year. But it’ll also be an opportunity for people to get hands on with Breath of the Wild, ARMS, 1-2 Switch and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Switch, which is a handy drawcard to have.
“Nintendo has come in at a crucial time to support GX Australia, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have them on board … knowing that the company of our childhoods supports a truly diverse gaming community and industry is wonderful, and we can’t wait to see them at the event later this month,” co-director and organiser Joshua Meadows said.
GX Australia is also on the verge of funding a “Blowout Party” to celebrate the convention’s last couple of years. It’ll be held near the Sydney Showground, and a $60 pledge gets you access to both the afterparty and both days of GX Australia, which isn’t a bad deal.

Nice.
Lovely news.
It’s a nice gesture, good on them. Helps send out GX with a bang, and great for Nintendo to get on board and show support for the LGBT community.
Great work, Nintendo.
We shall call it… NX Australia.
This is really awesome! Well done, Ninty :).
That is pretty cool.
Pretty lame premise for a gaming exhibition.
