The Duo Behind Namco X Capcom And Project X Zone Just Left Monolith Soft

While at Monolith Soft, veteran producer Koji Ishitani and game director Soichiro Morizumi collaborated on several crossover projects. Between them, they logged 30 years at Monolith, and they also both left the studio on March 31.

The Japanese financial year begins on April 1, which might explain the March 31 date.

As pointed out by Barukan, Ishitani tweeted out the news, thanking Monolith for the support over the past 14 years. While at Monolith, he directed Namco X Capcom as well as Project X Zone and its sequel Project X Zone 2, among other titles.

“I truly thank those from various companies for collaborating,” he wrote, adding, “I plan on staying in the game industry, so one day… let’s meet on a subsequent game!”

Ishitani, who joined Monolith in 2001, also announced the news via Twitter, recalling the titles he had worked on — from Xenogears Episode 1 and Baten Kaitos to Namco X Capcom and Project X Zone 2. He thanked those involved for their support and players for, well, playing.
