Ubisoft Announces Skull And Bones, Pirate Game Based On Black Flag's Ship Combat

Ubisoft has announced Skull and Bones at their press conference today, a standalone naval combat game based off Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.

Developed by Ubisoft Singapore, the online naval open-world game takes place in a shared world, where players can set sail solo or with friends.

In a gameplay trailer, several different types of ships were shown off, from long-range, cannon-packed dreadnoughts to quicker boats. Multiplayer mode Loot Hunt pits two teams of five ships apiece against each other in a race for treasure, competing to take in gold and stay afloat.

Could be interesting, Black Flag was excellent.

Except for the Assassin's Creed bits, which were terrible. So this is a win/win!

Another good concept they will no doubt ruin with poor matchmaking and endless micro transactions!

I was going to say it'll be ruined by making it a PvP game only.

Black Flag was great because it was single player.

I absolutely loved Black Flag. it was the only AC game that i found worth playing. This looks very interesting.

I was on board until they showed that boarding a ship leads to a cutscene and there's no sword and pistol combat.

i was onboard as well until it said online.

+1 to the 'interested until I saw the MP focus...

Given the comments here so far are all basically eye-tolling because it's not SP, are we just the vocal minority or have the developers once again missed a trick? Reminds me of how i felt when i first saw 'For Honour'.

OH MY GOD SET HYPE ENGINES TO OVERLOAD IT'S EVERYTHING I EVER WAN-- oh. Multiplayer focused.

    Hm.

I wonder what I should have for lunch today...
