This week hasn’t been a quiet one for games, and as of late last night there was another title to add to the mix: the turn-based Battlestar Galactica game made in Perth.
Called Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock, the strategy game is based on the first Cylon war, making it a prequel of sorts. It’s being made by Black Lab Games in Perth, which isn’t the largest hub of developers in the world, and not a place with a long-running history of making strategy games.
But against all the odds, both for an Aussie studio and Battlestar Galactica games in general, Deadlock‘s pretty good. Luke spent some time with Deadlock earlier this year, and found it was a great use not only of the license, but had a clever campaign mode as well.

We now have one. Kinda.”]
If you just want to check out some gameplay to get the idea, however, here’s the new trailer.
Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock is out now on PC, with a PS4 and Xbox One release later this year, and has some fairly exhaustive tutorials if you’re new to this blend of strategy. If you have the choice, it’s probably best played on PC.
Update: Despite what this says, only the PC version is out today. Boo. As an added note, the game is just over 3.1GB.
