The first episode of the Pokemon television anime aired on April 1, 1997 in Japan. This week, the show will air its 1,000th episode.
The name of the 1,000th episode is “Lilie and Silvady, the Resurrected Memory!” and will feature Silvady’s TV anime debut.

Broadcasting on November 9, the episode looks like a tearjerker (literally!) as evident in this Anicobin preview screencap:

There has been some dispute as to whether or not this episode is actually number one thousand, because by some accounts, it’s actually 988.
Huh, seems like Japan’s counting the Nov. 9th Sun & Moon episode as the 1,000th episode overall. I’m surprised they kept track tbh. pic.twitter.com/IpFz5B8r0L

But counting the Porygon episode and the Mega Evolution specials, next week’s episode is the 1,000th.
@moa151 did the math:
OS 276 (inc Porygon) + AG 192 (but no Chronicles) + DP 193 + BW 144 (no Rocket v Plasma)+ XY 146 (inc Mega Evolution specials) + SM 49 = 1,000— Dogasu (@DogasusBackpack) October 8, 2017
It’s been over twenty years of Pokemon anime. Can you believe it?

20 years, 1,000 episodes, and Ash still can’t win a League.
He won the orange league challenge.
Still less filler than Naruto
