A Profound Waste of Time is a new games magazine that “plays host to a rich variety of voices from inside and outside the video game industry”. Which means the first issue features pieces by folks such as Undertale‘s Toby Fox and Life is Strange‘s Ashly Burch alongside some very nice illustrations.
The mag was actually Kickstarted back in 2016, but has doubled in size since its original brief, hence the delay. The first issue also features a story by Vlambeer’s Rami Ismail, as well as an interview with Shovel Knight‘s Yacht Club Games.

It’s got nice design.
Jesus Christ. I mean, I love the look of it and would love to buy it, but GBP 25 (about AU$45 inc shipping) is just way more than I’m willing to pay for a magazine.
It’s more than most people are willing to pay for a hard-cover book.
Yeah that’s the kind of price they charge for a nice art book or something, not a magazine.
Is this just a one off or is it going to be an ongoing monthly thing? That could be an expensive subscription!
Well it took 2 years to make 1 issue.
Hmm maybe I should buy it after all. I’m interested to know if it’s worth buying COD Infinite Warfare…
