This Week In Games: The Battle For Azeroth Begins

There’s a lot of war flying around this week: Azeroth gets set alight with the newest World of Warcraft expansion, Phantom Doctrine brings a touch of XCOM to the Cold War, Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes hits the Switch, and the Bard’s Tale franchise gets its newest title in seemingly forever.

Note: We Happy Few‘s physical release is this week, but it’s already live digitally. Dead Cells is in a similar boat. And yes, the picture above is a reminder that you can get Alliance and Horde-themed burgers still for the next month.

Firstly, let’s touch on Bard’s Tale. It’s been an age since a new Bard’s Tale came out, although inXile have been talking about BT4 for years. Below you’ll see a full walkthrough of a demo that gives you an idea of what you’re in for. As an aside: it doesn’t seem like fans of the original Bard’s Tale are especially thrilled.

The final season of The Walking Dead kicks off this week as well. Clementine might finally be able to call somewhere home – but, as always, sacrifice will be required.

Phantom Doctrine is one of the games I’ll talk about more later this week. I’ll just let this gameplay video do the talking: there’s a lot of elements XCOM fans will be thrilled about.

Last big cross-platform release is State of Mind, a cyberpunk thriller from German point-and-click house Daedalic. Definitely something Detroit fans should look a bit further into, as you’ll see from this story trailer below.

Plenty to dig into this week. Anything catch your eye?
