Paul Allen, who along with Bill Gates founded Microsoft in 1975, has died at the age of 65 from complications associated with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Allen – who also owned the Seattle Seahawks and Portland Trailblazers – first overcame Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 1982, before also beating non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 2009 before its recurrence earlier this month.
He was one of the world’s richest men, with a personal net worth of just over $US20 ($28) billion. In his later years, as his involvement with Microsoft waned, Allen became a noted philanthropist, donating over $US2 ($3) billion to causes like research, exploration and the arts.

He also was one of the main owners of the Seattle Sounders FC in addition to the Seahawks and Trailblazers.
He will be missed. Hopefully someone else takes up the mantle of hunting down lost warships. I’ve loved reading about the discovery of the wrecks he’s found recently.
Less than 2 weeks ago he tweeted his doctors were optimistic about his recovery. Just two weeks! Kinda sucks.
