Today’s Fine Art is something different. Rather than look at one game, or one studio, we’re looking at a loose collaboration of artists from all over the industry brought together by one thing: a very fancy art dealership.
Cook & Becker, based in Utrecht, The Netherlands, has opened a gallery for “unique and limited edition art from artists working in computer & video games”. In doing so, many of the best artists in the business have been talked into contributing pieces, with the likes of Jesse Van Dijk (who we’ve featured before), Katamari creator Keita Takahashi, PaRappa creator Masaya Matsuura and Crytek’s Maciej Kuciara (who we’ve also featured before) pitching in.
Not all of the pieces they’ve contributed aren’t from any particular game or franchise, so while you may not recognise all of the characters or landscapes, you’ll recognise the style and the character of the work. Especially Takahashi’s. It’s hard to miss.
You can check out more of Cook & Becker’s pieces, including those from contemporary artists in other consumer fields like movies and sneakers, here.
Fine Art is a celebration of the work of video game artists.
