In an interview with VG247, Capcom producer Tomoaki Ayano explained that making each numeric entry in the Street Fighter series takes a long time. A long, long time.
“If you look at the history of the series,” Ayano said, “it took six years to go from Street Fighter II to Street Fighter III, and nine years to go from Street Fighter III to Street Fighter IV.”
“Purely based on that it would probably take us until the year 2018 before Street Fighter V comes out,” he continued. “So I hope everyone will play Ultra Street Fighter IV for a long time.” Years, in fact.
Ultra SF4 characters aren’t just ripped from SFxTekken, says producer [VG247 via Gamespot]

All characters will come with at least 1 skin*
*All characters not guaranteed to come with at least 1 skin and may have to be purchased as DLC on day one. Enjoy the wireframe bitches.
Copious DLC available on Day 1 at eye-raping prices.
If it was coming out any sooner, you’d all be making jokes about Capcom raping the franchise again.
**look up**
Well I guess even that’s not enough to stop you all.
You realise the community really, really wanted about 80% of these updates right?
You realise that balance patches don’t have to come with a pricetag and character DLC every time, right?
All I can say is there hasn’t been an update to SF4 that I haven’t thought was great value and was happy to pay for. And the only thing you’ve had to pay for was the step from SF4 to the next one. Everything else has been optional unless you wanted to more characters.
But everyone still gonna beat the dead donkey and jump on capcom. And that’s fair. They do some crazy weird stuff. But not with SF4. With Sf4 they’ve been really good and have only steered it in a positive direction. I don’t know anyone else in the FGC who’s not cautiously optimistic about ultra.
SF4 is a great game and I’m really happy they’re continuing to support it. It’s still the most popular fighting game at the moment, and it looks to continue that way for a long time.
I hope they can be happy with Ultra for years too… gives Capcom time to focus on better things, like a new/updated MvC 🙂
