Valve’s Eric Hope has announced a delay in the company’s Steam Machine hardware. Writing in a community post, Hope says in relation to the system’s controller that “Realistically, we’re now looking at a release window of 2015, not 2014”.
“Obviously we’re just as eager as you are to get a Steam Machine in your hands”, he adds. “But our number one priority is making sure that when you do, you’ll be getting the best gaming experience possible. We hope you’ll be patient with us while we get there.”
Now, nowhere does Hope specifically state that, yes, the entire bundle (Machine and controller) is definitely delayed into 2015. So we’ve contacted Valve for clarification, and will update if we hear back.
Note that Hope is only referring to Valve’s own first-party Steam Machine. Those from other companies shouldn’t be affected.

As long as it ships with HL3 built in, I’m sure people won’t mind.
Continues the trajectory of Half Life 3 being the killer app for release with the Steam Box.
Doesn’t matter, I built my own SteamBox. SteamOS won’t be viable any time soon, and the controller isn’t interesting to me at all since they dumbed it down.
I’m still interested to see how the controller feels, but there’s no point buying a pre-built steambox. They’re all overpriced and there’s no standard for the games to be optimised on anyway.
