Improving Half-Life 2 Through Animation (And Slapstick)

Improving Half-Life 2 Through Animation (And Slapstick)

Half-Life 2 is starting to show its age, which is fine, because it is 10 years old. Not that this will stop us looking at this animation video and wondering what it would look like with some more modern touches.

This animation reel is the work of James Benson, someone who we actually featured a few years ago. He made it for an interview with Valve, but then “never ended up showing it”.

“File under ‘list of stupid things I’ve done with my life”.

If you’re wondering what’s going on in the video, the in-game footage is the original Half-Life 2, the “green screen” stuff is Benson’s custom animations. I could watch that headcrab get swatted all day long.
