Kotaku Gift Guides: Cool Things That Are Nothing To Do With Video Games

We don’t totally have to define ourselves by video games, do we? Surely there are other things we have in common. If I’ve learned anything about you guys and girls over the years it’s that there are a few things we all tend to have in common. Simply put: we tend to like the same stuff, even if that stuff isn’t video games.

What sort of stuff? Oh I dunno… comic books, manga, anime, Game of Thrones, Science Fiction, board games, card games, Star Wars, Star Trek, porridge.

Actually scratch that last one. That’s just me. But seriously everyone, porridge is awesome.

Anyway, back to the presents. It’s worth noting that many of these gifts are taken straight from Lifehacker Australia’s excellent Ultimate Geek Gift Guide.

Game of Thrones Legacy Collection

These are $28 each at EB Games and let’s face facts — everyone sort of likes Game of Thrones. Everyone. Bizarrely, the quality of these likenesses really ranges from, ‘oh that sort of looks like Peter Dinklage’ to ‘why the hell is the guy from The Wire dressed up as Jon Snow’. I’m giving you fair warning.

Howl’s Moving Castle Limited Edition

Madman is selling a whole bunch of these Studio Ghibli boxsets. The Howl’s Moving Castle one is $99.95 and features a bunch of cool additions with the main attractions being a glorious art book and Blu-ray version of the movie. Kiki’s Delivery Service and The Wind Rises are also getting the limited edition treatment, but Howl’s is my favourite of the three. They go on-sale December 10.

Star Wars Han and Leia Bathroom Hand Towels

I’m married. I need these towels. You can get them for $14.95 here.

Black Milk Game Of Thrones collection

Man, I wish I could wear these.

You know what? Gender-based marketing be damned, I will wear these. Head to Black Milk’s website.
