In the TV space, Samsung and Sony are bitter rivals. Except when they’re not, because there’s a benefit for both sides. That’s the thinking behind a move that will see Samsung’s 2015 range of Smart TVs including Playstation Now compatibility.
The deal to include Playstation Now on Samsung TVs was announced just pre-Christmas, and it’s expected that Samsung Smart TVs with Playstation Now will be on display at CES 2015, with a rollout to northern American consumers in 2015 itself. Like Playstation Now on other platforms, the Samsung variant should jsut be an app that connects to Sony’s Gakai-powered games service for rental-based gameplay.
If nothing else, it’s an interesting step for Sony, a company that’s typically tried to keep all of its digital toys exclusively within its own family of products.
Sadly, there’s still no word on when we’ll see Playstation Now in Australia, which means that it’s perfectly feasible that you could pick up a Samsung TV in Australia with functionality you can’t access, or possibly functionality that’s been deliberately nerfed out.

Isn’t news that most reported on 9 days ago when it was announced effectively archival news as far as the tech world goes?
Generally yes, but nine days ago was (effectively) Christmas, and this hadn’t been covered here as yet and was (as such) of potential interest, especially with CES around the corner where we’ll see more of this to come.
I could not agree with you more Alex
Now all they need is people who would be willing to pay for Playstation Now……. will not be me.
Even if we were willing, it wouldn’t work on our shitty Australian internet.
TBH, any sort of streaming is not going to be viable here unless we get the LABOR NBN. The Liberal one that is being implemented is not going to work the way it wants to.
Maybe Labor will go to the next election promising to put it back to what it was. Though Turnbull’s deal with his mates and Telstra will probably make it too late.
Regardless of Aussie internet, PS Now would be great if the pricing was done like Netflix. Pay a sub and play what you want from what is available anytime rather than the current beta pricing.
