And out of nowhere comes an absolute humdinger of a week with more games that you can throw a metaphorical stick at. Seriously: Evolve, Monster Hunter 4, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. That’s a helluva week, especially for February. This feels like a mirage in the middle of the desert.
A.V. (PC)
What is it? It’s a first-person stealth-puzzle-musical-adventure game. Wow.
Should you care? I’m actually really intrigued by this. Watch the trailer at the link above. This looks top notch.
Barbarian Brawl (PC)
What is it? A multiplayer slasher that looks a bit… basic.
Should you care? I can’t really see a compelling reason to bother with this one. It looks well-made though.
Cubicity (PC)
What is it? Nifty little puzzle game where you play as a man who places cubes in particular arrangements.
Should you care? The above description sucks! Just click on the link. This looks interesting.
Don Bradman Cricket (Xbox One/PS4)
What is it? The only console cricket game gets a bit of spit and polish, just in time for the Cricket World Cup.
Should you care? Not much competition in the cricket genre. Not terrible.
Evolve (Xbox One/PS4)
What is it? A team-based shooter with a cool asymmetric game concept.
Should you care? Everyone seems to love this game. I felt like it was solid, but didn’t ‘feel’ great. Most likely people will enjoy this.
Harold (PC)
What is it? This is a well-made platformer/puzzler thing.
Should you care? Seems to have super high production values and looks like a lot of fun.
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate (3DS)
What is it? It’s that game where you hunt monsters. It’s stupidly compelling and it’s massive in Japan.
Should you care? Yeah, you should definitely care. Monster Hunter is great.
Plazma Being (PC)
What is it?A clever little physics based platformer. Looks cool.
Should you care? Hardly going to change the world, but this looks worth playing at least.
Samudai (PC)
What is it? It’s a 2D fighter-type thing along the same lines as Nidhogg. With cats.
Should you care? I love games like Nidhogg, your mileage may vary.
Terraria (PS4)
What is it? I can’t believe this getting a retail release on PS4. So weird!
Should you care? Yeah, Terraria is cool. I’d just get it on PC if I was you.
The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D (3DS)
What is it? It’s that Zelda game about time-travel and weirdness.
Should you care? I’m super hyped about playing this. I missed it first time round, so I’m super keen for this remake.
What are you buying this week? Anything? Let us know in the comments below.

Still have to wait till Saturday for MH, torture
Between Monster Hunter and Zelda, I think Evolve might be downgraded to a Steam sale game 🙁
I forgot MH was a thing.
Also damn you accursed Saturday releases.
I never really understood why majora’s mask got missed by so many people. As a kid I remember rushing out to get the ocarina follow up, and even then being surprised by how noone was playing it or talking about it. Did everyone who loved ocarina just get bored of zelda by then??
Or maybe it was just because I had no friends. Hmm…
I think the problem was the release time of it, it came out a year after OoT and most people were probably still playing that.
Probably didn’t help that it needed the memory expansion to work either.
Me and my older brother absolutely loved it…but for some reason it only had two save files (compared to 3 with OoT). So my little brother never actually got to play it proper. He still holds that against us to this day.
I kept clicking the link above but there was no trailer, just some kid in green with a mask.
the kids name is Zelda
Ummmm …. the kids name is Link
Evolve doesn’t seem all that great. Plus with 2K using their hatchet skills to devide up DLC into “season pass” and “not season pass” content like they did with WWE 2K15, I’m going to pass on it till waaaaay after everything comes out and is on a steam sale.
I might be late to the party, but I refuse to pay for a game like this in chunks anymore.
The problem is I feel like if I’m late the party will be over. Time will tell but I feel like right now Evolve is courting a fanbase that won’t stick around. They’ve got a lot of people excited about the concept but I think those people don’t really know how repetitive games like this can get.
It sounds dumb considering how psyched I am for Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, but I think Monster Hunter fans know what they’re getting into where Evolve fans still in that naive stage where they think they’ll be fighting a monster not another player who will do anything, no matter how boring and mindless, to win.
I feel ya man. As much as the party could be over if I don’t arrive right away, I’d rather be late and party with the all night crowd than the early dropouts. If a game like evolve is going to need to rely on a long term crowd, then they need to make a reason for some to stick around while attracting new people along the way. It’s not impossible. World of Warcraft has been going for 10 yup ears with a mix of old and new players
Very tempted to buy a New Nintendo 3DS XL and Majora’s Mask…
I managed to snag a Majora’s Mask Special Edition New 3ds. The temptation was too much. I now own 3 3ds’s…what is wrong with me.
I have 5, will have 7 on the weekend :/
All those street passes…
I’m the same. It’s been hard resisting temptation for a new 3DS lately with Majora’s Mask, Smash Bros, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, Mario games, etc.
I’ll probably pick up don bradmans cricket again. Your summary is pretty spot on though, it’s not terrible but it’s not really that good either
This week is all about Monster Hunter 4 for me! My Monster Hunter New Nintendo 3DS should be rocking up in the male (EDIT: Mail. MAIL!) at the end of the week too, so I’m super excited! 😀
How painful for him.
Oh god… that typo… teach me to post as soon as I wake up…
But there’s no mail on Saturday 🙁
If it’s a Saturday Launch, they usually have it to you the day before. I don’t usually ever pre-order, but the last time I did, they had it to me a day early 🙂
Finished Ocarina of Time last night to get ready for Majora’s Mask. Now my friends are telling me to get Monster Hunter 4… dunno what to do, help me???
If you’re interested in MH I would go for that, it’s definitely better to get into a MH when it’s new and there is plenty of people playing online and are all at the starter level rather than catch up in 6 months time when interest has dropped off and the dedicated people are all only playing high rank missions.
Majora’s on the other hand can be picked up any time, personally I’m just going to get it when I can get a good deal or when I don’t have any other portable games to play.
How the hell are we supposed to do #4iF when weeks like this happen >.
I can hear the clock ticking from zelda in my head.. Counting down..
*dog yaps*
I’ve got the clock town music from Zelda in my head…
