Yet Another JRPG Is Coming To 3DS

Yet Another JRPG Is Coming To 3DS

Today, the publisher Atlus officially announced a US localisation for Legend of Legacy, a video game that, like most video games, probably should have been called something else.

Terrible title aside, Legend of Legacy is a rad-looking RPG for the 3DS with turn-based combat and seven protagonists, not unlike the classic SaGa Frontier. It’s also got one hell of a development team. Via Atlus:

Illustrator Tomomi Kobayashi (SaGa series), renowned composer Masashi Hamauzu (SaGa, Final Fantasy XIII), writer Masato Kato (Chrono Trigger), game designer Kyoji Koizumi (SaGa series), and Masataka Matsuura (999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors)

Word out of Japan is that Legend of Legacy feels very much like a SaGa game, although importers have complained about the difficulty and the sluggish pace of turn-based combat, which makes this blurb from Atlus’ press release particularly interesting:

Balanced for the West – Based on user feedback following the Japanese release, several gameplay adjustments were made to enhance the gameplay. More details to come later!

Huh! Atlus wouldn’t elaborate, but that’s promising. I’ve got an appointment to see the game at E3 next week, so I’ll keep you guys updated on this (and all the other JRPGs at E3) then. Legend of Legacy will be out in late 2015.
