If you go back a few years the idea of StarCraft 2 going under the radar would have been unfathomable, but that was the situation we found ourselves in last week when Legacy of the Void decided to inhabit Fallout 4’s celestial orbit.
Nevertheless, having had some involvement with the franchise as a wee boy, there was no way I was going to let the conclusion of the story go by unnoticed.
I’d originally hoped to have this up on Friday, but the exceptional amount of issues I kept running into — the most enjoyable of which included File Explorer on Windows 10 breaking completely — ended up forcing me to do a double-take over the weekend.
Fortunately, that worked out quite well since it gave me the time to show off the game’s new co-op mode and a little chunk of the campaign. Also to those of you who sent in questions last week in the TAY chat, a couple of those got answered towards the end of the video.
Small technical tip if you’re playing Legacy of the Void at home: the default gamma is way, way too high. I kept wondering if it was something I could fix up in post but then realised that it was Blizzard’s default settings (you can see in the final render). Turn the brightness down yourself and you’ll have a much more pleasant experience.
Thanks again to everyone who sent in questions, and I promise we’ll get through more of those as this week carries on! (And if you’re playing through more LotV co-op, the campaign or multiplayer, let us know your thoughts below!)

Protoss campaign was good. Overall ending was pretty poor 🙁
Yeah, I was hugely meh on it and how they tied it all up felt hugely lazy.
Still, enjoyed it as a whole a lot better than HotS and more than vanilla SC2.
Yeah the ending sucked. In fact, the entire Star Craft 2 has been a pretty average story propped up by its awesome setting and universe. I never felt excited or surprised by anything that was going on in this story, I just played through to see it through. I liked the actual campaign missions, but the story was weak.
Also regarding the ending (massive spoilers):
Why the hell does Kerrigan turn into a flaming (though conveniently still shapely) fire woman when turning into a Xel Naga instead of a big fat bag of eyeballs like they regularly are? That just seemed stupid.I think Kerrigan was already evolved as the epitome of her biological form after her evolution at Zerg home planet. So, her power is purest at that form
Metzen knows how to create a really cool and interesting universe. He also knows how to really start a story.
On the other hand he gets really lazy and hasn’t done any of his main projects justice and finished them well.
Warcraft universe is amazing. Starts weak , gets amazing by Warcraft 3 plus exp and early wow is good too. Lately it’s just a mess.
Diablo started well , Diablo 2 story and themes were great. Diablo 3 story is lame.
Starcraft and brood war were so intricate. It’s amazing the story he could tell through just pre mission dialogue and in game dialogue. But man did he fuck Starcraft 2.
Please tell me there’s a group for kotaku au/exceptionally bad starcraft 2 players already in existence. Because I’d like to get in on that.
I would be entirely open to carrying you through some of the co-op missions if you’d like 😀 Although my GM-level skills have dulled (or vanished entirely, but it works fine for co-op!)
I only just finally got Star Craft to work this morning after upgrading to windows 10 (i could never get the blizzard client to work on 7)
So I’m about as exceptionally bad as you’ll ever get! 😀
What are the usernames I have to add? There’s codes like those on credit cards as well?
Inhibit or inhabit?
Why not both?
