The Syringer is a special weapon: instead of firing bullets, it shoots syringes. These syringes can have all sorts of effects — pacifying your enemy, confusing them, frenzying them. One of the funniest ammo types, however, is the “Lock Joint Syringe.”
Get this: Lock Join Syringe paralyses your target, be it a human or a Super Mutant (and everything in-between). No matter what your target is doing, with one shot of this puppy it will lock up, and often just tumble over as if they transformed into action figures:
Slowfield here tested it out with a ton of enemies in Fallout 4, and the results are amazing. There’s Brahmin tipping, the shutting down of Super Mutant Suiciders, and my personal favourite, Deathclaw trolling. Yessss.
If you’d like to get your hands on the Syringer rifle, Slowfield also has a guide on how to find it for free:
And finally, here’s a video that showcases all the different Syringer effects in action:
I can’t believe one of the ammo types makes it so that your enemies explode into Boatflies. What the fuck, Bethesda?
I know what I’m gonna mess around with tonight.

Huh. Might have to keep one handy for Deathclaws… For most enemies there’s not much point to gimmick special effects when you could just as easily spend a .50 cal round on, y’know… removing their head.
explosive combat shotgun/minigun for the win
edit: completely off topic but is anyone else having issues replying or posting comments to kotaku, giz and lifehacker while using firefox? every time i post get connection was reset message
if your worried about deathclaws, even in survival mode crippling their legs is pretty easy, after that they just crawl around its actually pretty sad to watch.
Might need some of these syringes though if your unlucky enough to fight a chameleon deathclaw however.
RIP in peace Fallout 3 dart gun. The anti-deathclaw weapon made from a toy car and surgical tube.
Yeah I’ve picked up the syringer a few times, but I’ve never found much use for it. Yes, Lock Joint is good, but everything else – meh.
I need this for the Deathclaw in the Witch Museum, I have the gun, just need the ammo
I think you make the ammo at any chemistry station, assuming you have the components. Unsure what you need, and you probably need medic or science perks for better ammo types.
Nah, PsychoJet + combat shotgun deals with that thing pretty easily.
Or you could, I dunno, take a heap of grenades and sit around the corner bouncing them off the walls like I did in the early game. 😀
easy as in there just use a fatman fixes it right up but the first time it messed me right up and scares the crap out of you too lol.
So could u knock ppl out with this thing and effectively neutralize enemies non-lethally with this thing? That’d be pretty cool
