Five years to the day. That’s how long it’s been since Deus Ex: Human Revolution hit store shelves and digital markets — in United States time, anyway. But now we’ve got another one, Mankind Divided.
It’s time to shank a lot of people in the back again. But if cyberpunk stealth isn’t your style, there’s plenty more out this week.
Worms W.M.D. All Stars (PC, PS4, XBO)
What is it? Think Worms: Armageddon.
Should you care? Depends on whether Worms Armageddon or Worms World Party was your favourite.
Madden NFL 17 (PS3, PS4, XBO, X360)
What is it? Murica football.
Should you care? You’ll already know if you do.
N++ (PC)
What is it? The PC port of the punishingly quick platformer.
Should you care? More people should.
The King of Fighters XIV (PS4)
What is it? The latest iteration of a very, very underrated series.
Should you care? If you have any passing interest in fighting games — absolutely.
Inside (PS4)
What is it? The PS4 release from the makers of Limbo.
Should you care? If you loved Limbo, absolutely.
Metrico+ (PS4)
What is it? A really funky puzzle platformer that’s about infographics.
Should you care? Watch the trailer and try not to. The style alone looks great.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (PC, PS4, XBO)
What is it? The latest cyberpunk adventure featuring Adam Jensen, implants and a whole lot of takedowns.
Should you care? Watch some of the shenanigans Kirk got up to. You’ll know after that.
Hue (PC, PS4, XBO, Vita)
What is it? An indie platformer that revolves around changing the background colour of the environment.
Should you care? You’ll know after seeing the trailer.
Valley (PC, PS4, XBO)
What is it? An action-explorer from the makers of Slender.
Should you care? This could be very, very cool.
Alone With You (PS4, Vita)
What is it? A sci-fi explorer with a sweet low-poly aesthetic.
Should you care? Looks like a cracker for people who are into point-and-click adventures.
Big City Stories (PS4)
What is it? A free-to-play city builder that has a bit of a multiplayer twist.
Should you care? Probably not this week.
Assetto Corsa (PS4)
What is it? The PS4 launch of the serious racer.
Should you care? Only if you’re that rare breed who races on PS4 with a wheel and pedals.
Prominence Poker (PS4)
What is it? It’s a game about the “underworld poker experience”.
Should you care? Only if it was somehow part of a Red Dead Redemption sequel.
Armikrog (PS4)
What is it? The console release of the claymation point and click adventure.
Should you care? The cinematics are cool, but a lot of backers were disappointed with the gameplay.
Absolute Drift: Zen Edition (PS4)
What is it? The PS4 release of a game that’s all about drifting.
Should you care? If you ever played any of those top-down indie racers, this is for you. The art style is sick.
Did we miss anything? Let us know in the comments!

Cheers! I got this out a little late so there’s a few names I’m yet to add. I’ll chuck those in now.
I really wanna try out Deus Ex. But I am still busy with Dragon Age: Inquisition. And I am not sure if I can handle another vast RPG.
Also I haven’t yet played Human Revolution.
Human Revolution was a really great game (and I understand they patched in an update to fix the boss fights, which didn’t originally give an option to players who specced for stealth). If you’re a PC gamer it can be had for a pittance these days, and I strongly recommend it.
I did get the game free with gold. Time is a problem.
This one is a direct sequel to the last one, you might not understand some of it without playing the first game.
Oh god. I did that – nearly gave up playing the game because I’d spec’d for stealth and hacking and the second boss kept trashing me over and over again. Glad to hear they patched it – I actually might give HR another go before picking up MD
As someone that just finished HR while struggling through the boss fights as a stealth build…God dammit.
By the way, how awesome is Inquisition? I finished it last year and I still think about it all the time. Andromeda can’t come soon enough
I was just awed the first time I saw a dragon in the wild. After 60 hours of the game!
Can’t say the same about most of the other enemies or demons. Seem to lack personality. However that is a problem I think of only when I am not playing the game. When I start the game, it sucks me right in.
I feel like Inquisition makes you feel open world RPG exhaustion because it’s not really that good of a game. Compare it to The Witcher 3 which fills you with excitement for that type of game design when done right, Inquisition makes you trudge through dozens of hours of realistically pointless and dull side content. Next time I hope they actually reduce the scale and scope of the world. Bigger is not always better.
Inquisition has its moments, but they’re too far apart unless you’re gunning through the story.
As for side quests, there are a few good ones. The mayor of Crestwood comes to mind. But hey, this is my first proper RPG, so I dunno much.
Oh man. You gotta play The Witcher 3 and its expansions next, it’ll make you hate yourself for wasting so much time on Inquisition’s side “content”.
My favourite part of The Witcher is that you’re rarely the centre of the world, I am getting so sick of the RPG trope of “you are the chosen one / savior and the whole story will revolve around you but we can’t call you by name because you’re a two-dimensional prop within a story that needs to be vague enough to accomodate any character choice you make”.
It’s treats you with respect and intelligence, and that’s sadly pretty rare in games.
I will definitely play The Witcher 3. The only reason I haven’t is because of the backlog, which includes The Witcher 2.
But I’m thinking of skipping 2 as I don’t have the time plus I heard I am not missing much with 2? I will give it a try with GOTY edition that’s coming out soon… maybe when it goes on sale sometime next year.
I played only about 8 hours of Witcher 2, never played Witcher 1. You’ll definitely be like “who’s that dude? what’s that thing? Where am I?” at the start but it won’t ruin your overall experience at all.
At the moment I’m juggling a few other games so I’m telling myself I’m going to hold off on Deus Ex for a couple of weeks or a sale. I expect that will last until maybe the weekend.
If you’re on PC and wait a few weeks it will have Direct X 12 support. Its a shame they couldn’t have it for launch 🙁
Nah, I’m on Xbox One.
I’m lucky, with my mum’s birthday on the weekend I might actually make it to Monday before cracking.
Which Worms game is more like the classics?
Armageddon or World Party?
So, if I like the classics, should I still go for All Stars?
Finally Deus Ex is here!!!!! My life has meaning again.
Exactly!!!’
I’m still crushed there’s no Xbone release for N++. =(
Yeah it’s bad that what was onetime an Xbox exclusive is now a PS4 exclusive for the sequel – people crap on about Tomb Raider but hey they got that eventually
Im wondering if i should get Dues Ex or not. not because im worrried it will be crap ( it isnt both PC gamer and RPS say it great on PC) But because Legion goes live tuesday and the final lead up quests go live this wednesday. also i can pick it up for 38USD
Wooh! Mankind Divided! Currently unemployed!
I’m really keen for Hue, it looks super cool. Just FYI on that though dude, it got delayed a week, it’s now August 30 🙂
Heh, even Major Nelson missed the memo, even though the click through link says “available in 7 days” xD
