We’ve gone through a couple of relatively quiet weeks. But the blockbusters and flood of indies are back, starting with RAGE 2.
Avalanche’s neon shooter-looter is the biggest profile title dropping this week, but there is a ton worth keeping your eye on. The Legend of Grimrock devs have a new turn-based RPG out called Druidstone. There’s a new Bubsy game – there’s a new Bubsy game in 2019 – and the Switch is getting plenty of indies, including Pocket League Story, the Wipeout-esque Redout and Octogeddon, a game from the makers of Plants vs Zombies.
There’s the Sniper Elite V2 remaster too, and A Plague Tale. Here’s the lineup for the week:
- RAGE 2 (PC, PS4, XBO)
- Sniper Elite V2 Remastered (PC, PS4, XBO, Switch)
- A Plague Tale: Innocence (PC, PS4, XBO)
- Redout (Switch)
- Rock of Ages 2 (Switch)
- Undead Horde (XBO)
- Dragon’s Lair Trilogy (XBO)
- Feudal Alloy (XBO)
- 39 Days to Mars (Switch)
- Thief Simulator (Switch)
- Project Nimbus (Switch)
- Darkwood (PS4, XBO)
- Bubsy: Paws on Fire (PC, PS4, XBO)
- Pocket League Story (Switch)
- Octogeddon (Switch)
- Akane (Switch)
- Chicken Rider (Switch)
- Koral (Switch)
- Devious Dungeon 2 (Switch)
- Inferno Climber: Reborn (Switch)
- Druidstone: The Secret of the Menhir Forest (PC)
Onto the trailers! Let’s start with A Plague Tale, a cinematic stealth game from Asobo Studio about a sister and her younger brother trying to escape the Inquisition and the plague all at once. It’s got a lot going on.
Also, give the Octogeddon trailer a view. It’s got a good hook.
Part of me still can’t believe I’m seeing the Accolade logo in 2019. Bubsy is being made by the BIT.TRIP series though, so I’ve got a bit of hope there.
So plenty to check out this week. Mad Max fans will probably jump straight onto RAGE 2 – which I can imagine plenty of readers here might, given how many keep mentioning how underrated Mad Max was. But A Plague Tale looks neat too, Thief Simulator seems interesting in a kinda janky way, and Druidstone could be really good. Redout will be great too, provided the performance holds up OK. (I’d be gutted if it wasn’t 60fps, though.)
So that’s This Week In Games. See anything you like, catching up on something older, or holding out for next week?

Can’t wait for the media to go all fire on Thief Simulator!
Looking forward to Rage 2. Also keen to check out Druidstone as The Legend of Grimrock games were great, and hoping Druidstone is just as good.
Skimming the list, blur of titles made me think I saw ‘Rocket Jockey’ which naturally resulted in a second or two of unearthly – if short-lived – excitement.
Pile o’ shame for me. Nothing’s grabbing me there or in the near future really.
Rage 2 looks awesome! As always, I will wait for reviews. I recently finished the first Rage and quite enjoyed it.
I’m actually really looking forward to The Plague Tale after the dump of trailers over the last few weeks.
Looks really interesting and done like perhaps a more grown up Bothers: A tale of two sons game.
Code Mirai looks like the Gundam game we’ve been waiting for!
Dragonslair. I can get rid of my dvd versions now. Space Ace????
