The Wii has been the exercise console of choice since it first launched back in 2006. Between strenuous motion control titles and Nintendo’s own balance board, folks that otherwise would never touch a gaming machine have flocked to the system in the hopes of melting away pounds in exciting new ways.
Bigben Interactive’s Cyberbike Magnetic Edition, now available at retailers across North America, is one of the priciest ways to game yourself lighter. Consisting of a full-sized magnetic-resistance stationary bicycle and a copy of Cyberbike Cycling Sports, the $US200 bundle mimics the sort of gameplay found in the expensive stationary bikes found at your better fitness centres.
Plugging into the Wii’s Gamecube controller port, the Cyberbike is also compatible with any game capable of being controlled via a Gamecube controller, including Mario Kart Wii.
Unfortunately, plugging into a Gamecube port means the Cyberbike won’t work with the Wii U, which as we’ve seen does away with those ports entirely.
Also note that the Cyberbike is perfect for gamers of all shapes and sizes, as long as they weigh under 286 pounds. Apparently I do not count as all shapes and sizes. Good to know.
Check out the official Cyberbike website for more information on one of the Wii’s most expensive peripherals.

Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 6:56 AMI am curious as to how this controller relates to GameCube controls, and just how many games it would actually work with. Especially GameCube games. F-Zero GX: Pedal Edition, anyone? :P
