Iron Monkey And Firemint Combine To Form… Firemonkeys

EA has today announced that its two Australian based mobile development studios, Firemint and Iron Monkey have formed to create Australia’s largest video game studio, Firemonkeys.

“Iron Monkey and Firemint have solid reputations for producing well-known games,” said Rob Murray, Executive Producer of Firemint Studios, “and we are excited to have the opportunity to share best practices, technology and resources.”

Firemint has become one of the most successful studios in Australia, with the release of mobile titles such as Flight Control and Real Racing. Iron Monkey has been the studio behind many mobile versions of EA’s big franchise games such as Dead Space, and Need for Speed.

“Both of these studios have produced award-winning games and we believe combining the incredible talent pool in Melbourne, as well as leveraging the EA brand sets us up for further success in the mobile arena,” said Tony Lay, GM of Iron Monkey.

Interesting times.
