Heavenly Sword Never Got A Sequel. Here’s An Animated Movie Instead.

Heavenly Sword Never Got A Sequel. Here’s An Animated Movie Instead.

You could make a case that Ninja Theory’s fantasy martial arts beat-em-up was one of the best games in the early days of the PS3. There sadly hasn’t ever been a follow-up but news broke earlier this year that there will be a CGI movie. Here’s the first look of the flick that will be hitting screens next year.

Coming from Blockade Entertainment — the same production company that’s doing the Ratchet & Clank movie — the Heavenly Sword flick looks like it’ll be a re-telling of the story from the game, likely with some tweaks. Strangely, there doesn’t seem to be any participation from Andy Serkis, who brought several characters in the game to life with performance capture and voicework. Let’s hope he’s busy on a playable sequel.
