Zero points for guessing who’s behind the soundtrack.
The sub-title is Legacy of the Beast, and it’s a free-to-play mobile RPG where you “battle as Eddie in his many guises across worlds inspired by the rich lore and music of Iron Maiden”.
It almost sounds like the beginnings of Metalocaplyse’s domination of global finances. Clash of Iron Maiden Clans? Anyway, the game comes with a “powerful soundtrack” that features songs from the entirety of Iron Maiden’s career. There’s also “previously unheard live recordings adapted for the game by engineer Tony Newton under the close scrutiny of Steve Harris”.
Harris is the primary songwriter, bassist and founder of Iron Maiden. This isn’t some two-bit knock off project. Iron Maiden’s taking this seriously. Or at least the founder is.
The game could still be rubbish, mind you. But chances are the soundtrack won’t be (if you like metal). The game will be released for iOS and Android during our winter and is being developed and published by Roadhouse Interactive, 50cc Games and Nodding Frog, according to the press material and information available on the website.

Will it be better than Ed Hunter?
It’s going to be Puzzle & Dragons with multiple Eddies, isn’t it?
yay more micro transactions
That Steve Harris is actually involved is a good thing. But that it will be a free-to-play game completely sours me from considering this game further. Not that I think free-to-play immediately means terrible, if it at least stays away from pay-to-win, but I would rather pay a fixed price and get a complete game, designed to be enjoyed without feeling a need for microtransactions.
Related note, I am pumped for May when Iron Maiden come out, I have seen them once previously and it was one of the best shows I have ever seen!!
This is not a new idea. I think the first game was Adventures of Poco Eco that was made for the new LP of electronic producer iamyank. They won all the awards with that game. More and more bands will promote their stuff by mobile apps. This is the new marketing trend of music industry.
