Aussie Nintendo Store: Take It To The Street (Hoop)

A big rush of games for this weeks update adorn the two stores. There’s even a Virtual Console game. No, none of them are Shantae or Cave Story. But get your points out anyway, there may be something for you.

DSiWare
Glow Artisan (Powerhead Games – 500 Points) – We’ve been waiting for this one for a while, but it’s definitely worth it. Yes, it is yet another puzzler on DSiWare, but there is nothing inherently wrong with that, of course. This one has you drawing lines on the touch screen to match patterns on the top screen, which is a lot more fun than it sounds.

Snapdots (500 Points)- Well well well, what’s this? Australia actually got a exclusive game this week. Possibly the first time this has ever happened. While we missed out on Spot The Difference we instead got Snapdots. Here’s what Nintendo Europe has to say about it…

Shoot blocks from your UFO to place them in the right spots and complete a wide variety of picture puzzles!

Welcome to Snapdots! Complete dozens of puzzle pictures by rotating the puzzle to find the best angle and then shooting blocks from your UFO. If the placement isn’t quite right, use the UFO to grab blocks back to shoot them in different spots. Adding to the challenge, puzzles often contain several types of blocks and spots, each with its own characteristics, on the playing grid. Journey to multiple planets to tackle puzzles individually in Puzzle mode or try to clear as many puzzles as you can within the time limit in frenetic Time Attack mode. In either mode, the combination of strategy and action result in a classic puzzle game that definitely hits the right spot!

WiiWare
My Starry Night (Hudson – 500 Points) – You know that Aquarium game Hudson did a while back? Well they’re at it again, but this time you watch fish in the sky. Oh sorry, this game is similar to My Aquarium, but doesn’t have fish. In this one you sit watching the skies. It’s full of planets and asteroids and all that good spacey stuff. You’ll know if you want this one.

Racers’ Islands: Crazy Arenas (Zallag, 800 Points) – The last Racers’ Islands title wasn’t that great, but maybe they’ve fixed it? Sequels, how do they work?

Virtual Console
Street Hoop (NeoGeo – 900 Points) – A classic arcade basketball title. It’s a 3-on-3 affair in an around the globe challenge with countries pitted against other countries. Like NBA Jam, it has no online – but we expect that from a game released in 1994.
