Remastered PSP God Of War Games Running On A PS3

The PS3 God of War: Origins Collection brings Ready at Dawns two wonderful Playstation Portable games to the PS3. But you can't just dump them over from portable to console and expect them to look good. These games have been remastered in full HD.

That means both games went from 480x272 resolution and 30 frames per second running on the PSP to 1920x1080p at 60 fps on the PS3.

Here's a look at the games running on the PSP and the PS3 side by side. More details about the process over at the PlayStation Blog.

Looks really tight, I'm going to buy it just in case there is a hidden easter egg that hints at Santa Monica's/Ready at Dawn's next game..............and the trophies..............

Hmmm tempting. I do love me some God of War, but never played these two due to a lack of PSP ownership. Only concern I've got is that after the epic epicness of God of War 3 these might not be quite as impressive as they might have been if I'd played them before.

That actually looks reallly really similar to the PSP ones. Like, the upscale is only noticeable in the first video shown.

I liked God of War, but God of War 3 annoyed me. Mostly due to the horrific plot/ending and the fact that Kratos is completely unlikeable by the time Game 3 rolls around. At least in 1 he had some remorse, he's just a dick later on.

I consider resolution, framerate and mesh subdivision par for the course and part of the 'dumping' process. Swap out your api calls (which shouldn't be so very different considering they're both Sony written.) and hey presto HD edition. An extra few lines of code and wowsers is HD 3D edition. Game certainly doesn't need the SPUs and is almost certainly written in C++ which will compile just fine over on the PS3.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for HD rereleases of good titles as they make it easier for more people to get their hands on the game. But I don't see why everyone get so excited when they haven't put any real effort into making the game look or play better. From what I can tell they are no significantly reworked art assets to be seen, no new shaders, no tweaked gameplay.
