While I'm not too fond of food marketed directly at the gaming community in general, GamerFood has come up with some rather catchy names for their new line of energy-infused nut sacks.
Packed with caffeine, taurine, ginseng and lysine, this is a serious collection of nuts and seeds right here. We've got Seeds of Victory, a sack of power-soaked sunflower seeds; Cashews of Chaos, honey roasted for our pleasure; and of course, Nuts of Destruction, a fun way of saying ancho chilli and lime flavoured peanuts. They sound rather tasty (especially the cashews), but are they really the snack for hardcore gamers?
"GamerFood is the snack for hardcore gamers. Not only does it nourish, it also boosts focus, alertness, and reaction time, giving players a competitive advantage," said Chris Davis, CEO of GamerFood. "Convenience stores are stocked with energy drinks and protein bars for athletes but lack a space for gamers, GamerFood fills that void. Gaming is mentally demanding, with limited break time and late nights that run into mornings. We developed a series of snacks with industry experts that met our needs: delicious energy packed snacks, infused with energising ingredients that deliver quick sustainable nutrition and energy."
Okay then, I guess they are. They're also rather expensive, with eight-pouch boxes running $US23.99 for the seeds to $US32.99 for cashews (damn you savoury cashews!). It's expensive for gamers to eat properly. We are not like normal people. We cannot eat their puny human food. It's a choice we've made, and the price we pay.
