Welcome To A Korean Cosplay Inferno

If you are talking Korean cosplay (and that's exactly what we are doing), you can't finish a sentence without mentioning cosplay collective Spiral Cats. The team dazzles with its outfits, its photos and its live cosplay performances.

Spearheaded by cosplayer Tasha, who Kotaku previously featured, and featuring the likes of Tomia, Ren and Miyuko, the team cosplays anime, manga and game characters. Earlier this year, Miyuko from Spiral Cats caused a stir online with a League of Legends cosplay. Her Ahri the Nine-Tailed Fox photos spread online like wildfire. The group's webpage was pounded hard with traffic; it was even knocked off line.

The image below is a best-of, showcasing some of the team's standout work. Notice the attention to detail with the costumes as well as the polished photos. This isn't just some of the best cosplay Korea has to offer, it's some of the best cosplay period.

Is it me, or do they seem to cosplay a lot better than everyone else.

That's exactly what I was thinking as I scrolled down the page...

I love that Blue Rose, looks amazing!

All i can see is all the contact lenses glaring at me :P

    VERRY NIICE

I think you broke their bandwidth allocation >.> website's dead.

the costumes are great but these shots would be perfect if they showed the emotions of the characters there portraying more often. In allot of these they just have that blank questioning look, which might suit some but not all of these charicters.

not trying to be racist but i can't help but getting sick of seeing asian women being the majority of cosplayers. would love to see some smokin' caucasians join in

There's some really good ones, but it's a niche interest here. The other issue is the caucasians tend to go after the sexy angle(often while being as far from it as possible), not the accuracy/love for character that proper cosplay holds.

There's a couple that are decent, though, sadly I see them more via fandom.membase.com than anything. From my quick list, though:

      http://onpaperwings.deviantart.com/gallery/?offset=24#/d2tcc9h
      http://zettai-cosplay.deviantart.com/gallery/?offset=120#/d37uuwm

You'll recognise onpaperwings as the firefall girl.

Look at the comic/game convetions from western events more than the anime ones - that's more "our field", if that makes sense.

With the exception of a few, these pics show that cosplays can be awesome while covering the majority of body parts.

But then again, many anime/game characters are designed with barely any clothing =\ either way, I'm not complaining

    Beautiful!!! <3

That's not a fan, that is a professional cosplayer. She's well known.

I don't know a single one of these characters except the guy from that One Piece Anime that used to be on Cheez TV.

That'd be Luffy, all round mad house ass kicking pirate from One Piece. To his left and a couple of pictures down is Boa Hancock, Empress of Amazon Lilly who has a really unhealthy obsession with Luffy and wants to marry him.

Inori cost play leaves me feeling a little happy in the pants >.>
