Total Recall's Blu-ray Comes Packaged With A God Of War: Ascension Demo

Back when I was a youngster game demos were delivered on Official Games Magazines and all we got for Christmas was an orange and a lump of coal. These days? Not only are game demos delivered virtually, or used as marketing tools alongside other games, they're now being attached to Blu-ray releases.

This is the world we live in folks. The release of Total Recall (the new one, not the good one) is set to be packaged with a demo for God of War: Ascension, according to the PlayStation Blog (and they should know!)

It's a single player demo, so you won't be able to check out the new multiplayer section of the game -- which I find quite intriguing as a concept -- but you'll still be able to get a feel for how Sony Santa Monica has evolved the series.

We're still confirming with Sony locally to double check we're actually receiving this deal in Australia. We'll update once we hear back.

I like the way this is going. If Sony can get more PS3 demos included on Sony Pictures BDs, that's a nice development of the ecosystem.

Plus, I use my PS3 as a BD player so..... convenient demos?

Pretty sure they did this with District 9 as well. I thought it was clever.

That headline should read The God Of War Ascension Demo Comes Packaged With A BluRay Of Total Recall :P

Would make more sense if it came with a demo of Deus Ex! Lol

So like... 7 people are going to have early access to the demo?

the catch is it comes with total recall

Well I guess that way you've got a coaster to rest your drink on while you play the God of War demo.

That's a strange combination. Would people who want a Sci-Fi movie be interested in something relating to Greek mythology? The Macross anime/game ones I understand, this, not so much.

It's audience focus based and timing based.

What Sony owned movies/game demos are coming out roughly the same time? these ones.
Who goes to see movies with ACTION, VIOLENCE, FANTASY/SCI-FI and TOUGH GUYS. teenage to young adult men mostly.

gow 1and 2 are some of my favorite games on the ps2 and i like sci fi so your question is stupid

They did this with the Resistance 3 demo, which was distributed with that god-awful Keanu Reeves movie, "The Day The Earth Stood Still And Collectively Decided That Keanu Reeves Is A Shit Actor", or something.
Sci-Fi movie, Sony Pictures release, highly anticipated upcoming exclusive game. It's a trend I'm happy to see continue - not everyone has internet good enough to justify downloading a gig for a fifteen minute demo.
