The welcome area that will appear whenever you start up Nintendo’s new Wii console, the Wii U, will be called the WaraWara Plaza.
As our Osaka-based Brian Ashcraft points out: “Warawara” (わらわら) is Japanese for “bustling”. It’s a suitable description for the crowd of virtual friends and other gamers you’ll see when you turn the console on.
The new video up here from Nintendo — an English-language version of what aired in Japan last night-explains how the WaraWara Plaza works.
Bonus: the video also includes the first public showing of a Wii U video chat. It’s awkward, but hey, that’s video chat for you!
The Wii U will be out on November 18.
