Xbox LIVE Continues With The Awesome Sales: GTA and Deus Ex Discounted

There's nothing as incredible as Max Payne 3 for $4.95 -- that was a ridiculous sales moment that will live in our hearts and memories forever -- but that doesn't mean that the latest round of Xbox LIVE Games of Demand sales aren't impressive. They're very impressive. GTA IV, Deus Ex: Human Revolution -- all those games and many more brilliant add-ons are currently on sale.

My personal favourite is the GTA sale, which features Grand Theft Auto IV for $19.95. That's pretty decent, but I think the superior The Lost and Damned and Ballad of Gay Tony may be even better gaming experiences than GTA IV, and they're both heavily discounted. Particularly The Lost and Damned, which you can pick up for a paltry 400 points.

Square Enix is having a sale across a great number of titles, the highest profile of which is Deus Ex: Human Revolution for $19.95. My own recommendation, however, is Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light -- such a great, underrated game. It's currently only 600 points.

For more deals, check out Major Nelson's blog. All of the Assassin's Creed DLC also appears to be on sale.

Pretty good deals -- anyone planning on picking anything up?

You can probably get GTAIV and Deus Ex on disc for about that price these days, can't you? I'm sure I've seen them both in the 2 for $40 bin at JB. And Deus Ex was free on PS+ a few months back.

Both good games, though - well worth playing for anybody who hasn't already.

Quite a few of the games in the sale were free for PS+ subscribers.

Oh wow. GTA and the expansions are on sale for Xbox LIVE? That's as about as surprising as the last 20 times they've done that...

Also, fair warning. Do NOT buy Supreme Commander 2. The way they treated their fans with that game was nothing but insulting.

Sleeping Dogs for $9.95!? too bad I own it already..

What's really sad is that I bought Sleeping Dogs soon after the release date and it's still in its original wrapping :\

That is sad! It was easily one of the best games to come out in 2012. The experience isn't as deep as some might like (especially with the romance options and various other side missions), which was mainly the result of a development budget being slashed, but the overall gameplay doesn't suffer for it. It does an excellent job of replicating the experience of an HK action movie and the story is well done even if it is pretty cliche.

I definitely want to see more of this, and I think we finally got some story-based DLC for it this week, "Year of the Snake" (as opposed to the previous DLC which was mainly just extra collectibles and money which are utterly unnecessary, and the "halloween" DLC Nightmare in North Point which just added some ghosts and zombies.

yeh I found the Zodiac tournament pretty fun. A cool homage to Enter the Dragon, but it was really short..

I've gone back to GTA4 recently (in the lead up to GTA5) and playing The Lost and the Damned and Ballad of Gay Tony DLC. I gotta say, it takes some getting used to in going back to GTA. It feels so clunky compared to Sleeping Dogs now when I remember being blown away when I first played GTA4. Interesting seeing how much of a difference 5 years can make.

I remember thinking GTA IV was fantastic when I first played it and I still think they created a great world to play around in, but Saints Row 2 far outstripped it in terms of fun and playability and I was never able to go back. I was really looking forward to Lost & Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony, but after spending an hour with Lost & Damned I gave up. The gameplay was too rigid, the controls too clunky, the driving was a pain.

I have high hopes for GTA V though.

But.. you're not a real man without a pork bun in your hand.

Now I really want a pork bun, the ones you get in Asia are huge compared to the tiny things we get here.

You look like you could use a pork bun!

I found that game so frustrating. I played it and enjoyed what I played, but for some reason it just gave me the most horrendous motion sickness. Worst that I've had in years, definitely the worst of any game I've played this generation. In the end I just had to give up on it.

At least it was one of the PS+ freebies so it wasn't like I paid much for it. But I just don't understand why that particular game caused that reaction, while I've been able to play any number of first person games (COD4, Mirror's Edge, Bioshock, a couple of Killzones and Battlefields) without any such issues. Nor did I have any problems with other 3rd person open world games like GTAIV, RDR, etc.

That's interesting, I've seen other people mention that but I can't imagine what's triggering it. I think my wife had issues with watching me play it as well, and I'm pretty sure that would be the first time she's suffered motion sickness from anything in the 10 years I've known her.

You really missed quite a good game by not being able to play it. :(

    Guessing this is for Mericah?

Nope. Australians actually get in on the action this time. Last week we even got Max Payne 3 for $5 when it was only discounted to $15 in the US.

The marketplace link has AU in it, so you know that they're actually our prices. http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/promotion/SQX-pub-sale-031213 is the US version. Looks like theirs are slightly cheaper in places, although I don't think they get Sleeping Dogs?

    Sleeping Dogs for $10? Sold!

I actually have a decent library of full games on demand sitting on my 360 now, after the last sale: Max Payne 3, Dead Island, MGS x 3, Resident Evil 6, Fallout 3, Gears of War 2, Crysis 2, and now Sleeping Dogs.

It's liberating to have that Steam-like library where I can pick something meaty out without having to change discs around. It may seem lazy, but really it just means that I'm more likely to play something different in the odd hour I get here or there, rather than just play whatever is in the tray or an arcade game.

I like it. Here's hoping the MS keep this up now and on their next console!

Funny I'm still seeing last weeks sales on my X-Box although if I go to the games directly I get the right prices.

I just grabbed myself Lara Croft: GoL, I always wanted it but didn't want to pay full price.
