Don’t Worry, Thief’s New Developers Understand How Important The PC Version Is

There’s always that threat. A new developer decides to reinvigorate an old, well-loved series. Will these people preserve the integrity of the ‘franchise’? Will they completely ruin it? Will it rely too much on a template? Will it match the original? So many questions. But with game like Deus Ex and now Thief there’s another equally pertinent question: will the correct amount of resources be put towards the PC version?

In an interview with Strategy Informer, producer Stephane Roy didn’t go into specifics, but she did confirm that the team is making sure that the PC version of the game “isn’t just a copy of the console version.”

“No doubt on our side the PC version is extremely important,” she explained. “Just playing Thief with a keyboard and mouse it’s different so we must make sure we support that well. For making the PC version we think like a PC gamer, for consoles it’s a different type of beast. It’s one of our goals to make sure that the PC version isn’t just a copy of the console version.”

It almost goes without saying that a Thief reboot should be well represented on PC, but in this day and age? You can’t take anything for granted. Good to hear that at least some amount of thought and resources are being put towards making sure the game runs well on PC.
