And yet because of how much they love money, they still feel the need to charge more than $100 RRP here? Oh Activision, how we love to hate you. 😛
I’m going to play devils advocate here.
You can sell something for what ever people are willing to pay for it. If people keep buying it (ie. demand) why should they lower the price? If anything, on a basic economics level the best plan would be to increase the price.
Absolutely agree; if you can get away with selling something at a higher price, it would take a good reason to sell it any lower.
It’s just that, you look at a publisher like Ubisoft and they sell their games at launch here for $88 these days; so it makes you wonder if a company like Activision would get more sales by having a lower entry price? At that price you may see less people importing and more people buying locally; at least I would like to imagine so anyway.
I dare say that Activision don’t care whether people import the game, the Australian distributors (Synnex Australia) on the other hand would and I think it’s them who dictate the price (as far as I’m aware they organise the printing of the discs and all other logistics with in Australia).
Who’s paying $100+ for Black Ops 2? Even at release it was $79 or such.
RRP and retail ticket price are 2 very different figures.
i think it was Black Ops that had a banner down the bottom of load screen/lobby that used to inform you of the combine stats. it was quite eye opening and amusing. one stat was the combined distance fallen by players to their deaths was 1000s of times the height of mount everest. or GDP figures of nations spent in ammunition. gamers will never be sensible or economical
There will always be humans on Earth. Whenever you come to an empty carpark or use a toilet stall, someone always comes along and parks next to you, even if it seems like it’s deserted! But think of that cost in relation to complete elimination of CoD playing douchebros… Totally worth it.

Wow, i was expecting more venom in the comments of a COD article. Usually im told COD fans like myself are 12 years old, have ADD arent true gamers by now. In fact theres only one overtly negative comment here.

I work with a laser skirmish company Epic Gaming in Australia and for the Black Ops 2 launch at Macarthur Square. We had TDM games all night waiting for the midnight launch and 4 teams of 5. EB games had laser targets only in a stand still while we had remodeled the car park with blown up obstacles.

Not quite using the full force off weapons from COD but still fun tho, was a good night.
