Here’s a new trailer for State of Decay, a ridiculously ambitious RTS/shooter/zombie survival game. It will be out this June for XBLA.

It’ll be ported to PC, but it’s going to be very bare-bones port.
http://undeadlabs.com/2012/07/news/class3-for-the-pc/ – cliff’s notes, they weren’t going to do a PC version, but apparently when they asked Microsoft about it, it was pretty trivial to do. But it’ll still have the xbox interface and they’re intending that you’ll play it with a gamepad on a tv.My understanding was that the first game is a single-player/split-screen coop affair only on XBLA, and they’re working on an online coop version using what they figure out from the first. (Which they term ‘Class 3’ and ‘Class 4’ for the small and large scale versions respectively.)

PC version will not be launching at the same time as the XBLA version, they have said that they will be releasing a PC version at a later date though

Are we still complaining about how zombies are an overplayed theme? The complaints are getting more boring than the theme.

If zombie games vex you, as they clearly do, good sir, then perhaps not clicking on links that clearly state they’re about a zombie game would be the way to go. ‘Tis but a suggestion, so feel free to take it or leave it.
I found a similar solution to a problem I used to have at the local sandwich shop. I hate avocado, you see. Can’t stand the stuff, but plenty of people seem love it so it’s always on the menu. I discovered that simply not ordering avocado, rather than ordering it, then bitching to the owner and to every customer in the store about how much I hate it, worked heaps better!
Keep smiling and bye for now!

At which point in the title “Watch The New Trailer For State Of Decay” does it mention Zombies? Don’t worry, I won’t be buying it, no way in hell (see what I did there?) but Zombie games are just lazy game design, there is next to no AI and character design is limited to a few similar looking models. The ONLY thing that can save a zombie game is if there is a human story, and the only one to do that is Telltale’s Walking Dead.
When a game developer sits down and says “OK guys what ideas you got for the nest title?”
and someone says “zombies?”
surely there are a number of people who would say, “you don’t think that shit is over done now?”
then one would say “yeah it is, but Walking Dead just made heaps of cash money”
“you mean that critically acclaimed adventure developed by the worlds best adventure game studio? the one based on a huge multimedia property that millions of people watch?”
“yeah that one”
“Right, will we be using that name?”
“no”
“next idea please, Zombie games are boring and over done” -

Tis not a zombie game good sir, zombies are to be feared. It seems you are battling red eyed zombie skinned monsters here my friend, and when they pass these off as the real thing…it becomes lazy game design.
Hmmm what was that racing game from a while ago? the one with ‘zombies’ along the outsides of the track acting as bystanders that had no impact whatsoever on the racing or game itself?

Zombies aren’t game design, they’re just part of the setting, you could swap zombies for aliens and make exactly the same game.

I’ll never understand how Kotaku thinks this is somehow an RTS……..
But besides that I am beyond keen for this game, say what you will about Microsoft but Microsoft Game Studios does help to bring out these kinda gems, gotta respect that.
