Ever wonder what popular anime theme songs of the ’60s, ’80s, ’90s and ’00s would sound like if they were all made in the style of ’70s robot anime like Gundam or Mazinger Z? Luckily, this album has the answer: they would sound awesome.
Released late last year, Japanese singer Ichiro Kageyama takes the themes of nine popular anime — Neon Genesis Evangelion, Sazae-san, Touch, Ikkyu-san, Sally the Witch, Cutie Honey, Kiteretsu Daihyakka, Cat’s Eye, and Pretty Cure Max Heart — and gives them the best retro covers you’ll hear this side of Bioshock Infinite.
The album — aptly titled “If All Anime Songs Were in the Style of Showa Era Robot Anime” (もし、アニソンがすべて昭和のロボットアニメ風だったら) — is available for purchase on Japanese Amazon and iTunes.
