Plants Vs. Zombies 2 Travels Through Time On iOS July 18

Crazy Dave is the Doc Brown of a new generation in Plants Vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time, an appropriate title for the eagerly anticipated sequel in more ways that one. If anyone could figure out the mysteries of time travel, it's the mad botanist who saved the world from zombie infestation through vegetation.

In what is surely an effort to escape his horticultural prowess, the zombies have launched an assault on the time stream, likely figuring itwas the one place they were safe. They were wrong.

The cinematic trailer is overgrown with plants old and new, sowing the seeds of things to come. According to IGN, the game will be a free-to-play affair, with opportunities to purchase power-ups and new means to interact directly with zombies via the touch screen.

Plants Vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time is slated for a July 18 release exclusively on iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. That'd better be a timed exclusive — otherwise the PC gamers that made the original game such a hit are going to burn the building down.

Hit up the IGN article for a look at the first screens for Plants Vs. Zombies 2.

Not even Android? That's pretty shitty popcap.

Not going to lie - that had me grinning like an absolute fool! lol

All you need to know is that it's free to play and its published by EA. It's a shame.

Seriously, between this and the Game of Thrones episode last night, I'm calling in the rest of the working week sick.
Why would they shit in their hands and shove it into the faces of gamers everywhere who helped make the original such a success? :( This does not bode well at all.

    Free to Play? X
    Exclusive to iOS? X

    Not a good start, Popcap.

They just alienated a huge audience. I know it's a timed exclusive, but fuck that. Why would I want to play a game that made me feel less special.

The current one free to play so I don't see what the big deal is?

This is going to make the xbox, simcity and diablo launches look like fairy tails.

Why on earth would you make something this popular iOS exclusive. Do people really not realise it's not leading the market any more? I hasn't for well over a year.
And free-to-play should be renamed pay-to-win.
If they announce social interaction and facebook integration, that's the last straw.

Really the problem with Free to Play mobile games is is that they're not valued at all, if I didn't spend any money on it I'm not really compelled to play it.
