Fine Art: The Art Of The Giant Robots Of Pacific Rim

Fine Art: The Art Of The Giant Robots Of Pacific Rim

You know what was cool about Pacific Rim? All those giant mechs. You know what’s cool about Hugo Martin, the guy who helped design those mechs? He’s now working on Doom 4.

Not that id’s long-in-development-hell shooter is his first work in games, though, as he was also at Naughty Dog for the first Uncharted, and at animation house Blur for a while, where he contributed to the cinematic clips for Old Republic, Halo Wars and The Force Unleashed.

Oh, and he also worked on some little movie called The Avengers.

You can see more of Hugo’s work at his personal site and CGHub page.

BONUS

Here’s a clip from this year’s QuakeCon, where Martin got to get up on stage and give a talk on his art. If you’re an artist, or into this stuff, it’s awesome.

Fine Art is a celebration of the work of video game artists, showcasing the best of both their professional and personal portfolios.
