Last week things got… hairy. I had an early Xbox One and a bunch of events to go to and then lots of PlayStation 4 news broke. For those reasons I had to delay the Kudos. Today, my friends, we cannot delay the Kudos. I have an early PS4 set up in the office. BUT NO MATTER. The Kudos comes first. (Almost) Always the kudos.
For today’s first nom I think I’ve found a kindred spirit. Liondrive, it seems, is a Lady Gaga fan. I also like Lady Gaga. We should be friends. I too live for the applause.
Liondrive
I’m not too sure how these things work, but I would like to nominate @35 for inadvertently reminding me that Lady Gaga’s new album was released on Tuesday (12/11/2013). Went out almost immediately afterwards, bought it, loved it! I would have completely forgotten about it if not for him! Thank you so so much! You’ve no idea how much I’m loving this new album!
It’s a pretty good album man. I don’t know if it’s as good as The Fame Monster but it’s pretty good!
Not one but two noms from D.C. — this guy’s taking minimalism to a new level.
D.C.
Hey Mark,
@shane
D.C.
And then later this week…
D.C.
This week I nominate:
[Insert worthy nominee here]
This person deserves all the nominations in the world. For reasons. REASONS.
Your pal,
D.C.
Actually nom minimalism seems to be a thing these days…
Cakesmith
No elaborate emails today, just kudos noms for SerNobulus and Rize for being pretty cool guys.
But with this minimal nom I have a question: which Benny is this in reference to Dire Wolf?
Dire Wolf
I’d like to nominate Benny for giving me a free code to download Zelda: Links Awakening on the 3DS.
I think the reason I’m confused is that I call my brother in-law (and resident Kotaku tech wizard) Ben ‘Benny’. As far as I know, however, he doesn’t have a 3DS so it must be someone else.
Also — enjoy Link’s Awakening. I think it’s the second best Zelda game ever made (behind A Link to the Past).
I think Scree might be one of the nicest people on the internet.
Scree
I was going to say morning, but I didn’t know if you’d read it in the morning. So, Morning, or afternoon, depending on when you read this.
How is the baby going? I have no idea how you do it, I’m not good with children. =P
Anyway I would like to nominate Redartiface for offering Welbot some money. I know what it’s like to have to live on very little money and Welbot has been doing it tough. I’ve wanted to help, but can’t really so I was really happy to see Redartifice offer! And that’s why I’m nominating him. Because he is a top bloke who is helping a fellow Taybie in need.
I would also like to nominate Ser Nobulus because he bought my Pax tickets o/
I would also like to nominate Gorzilla because he came down to Melbourne and drove my dog, Sid, around for a week. My dog loves Gorzy now. He also helped us out a lot as well, like driving Mum to the doctors when she had pleurisy.
That’s all for now, have a nice day.
Just in case I don’t nom before then, have a nice Christmas too!
What lovely noms and what a lovely person!
Oh wait a minute — here’s another nom for Benny! I need to meet this guy!
Hermes
Just sending in quick noms because I won’t really have time to do so this week and after this week I won’t even be in the country for the rest of the year! (avoiding all the launch hype over here and landing smack bang in the middle of it in Japan). Look, enough boasting though hey, there’s noms to deliver.
@shane and @benny get my points this week. If I had to give out 5 points every week it’d be an even 2.5 split going to these two. Shane because he offered up his exhibitor passes to the ADL supanova this weekend and Benny snapped them up. Then Benny said he only needs them for the Saturday and that I could have them. So I said I will come get them, brotaku, and he said, notaku, I will deliver them badges right to your door. OHtaku! thank you benny and shane. Cutla good eggs those ones.
Anyway, have a merry christmas and a happy new year you glorious bastards.
Only Hermes could call a three paragraph, 200 word email ‘quick noms’. Beardy McMuttonchops
Firstly, an individual nom for Welbot. That dude is amazing. He’s always willing to help out whenever I’m having PC issues, and alway goes the extra mile to help as much as he can.
Secondly, I can’t individually nom people for this. This is a blanket nom for the entire Kotaku community. On the weekend I launched the Kickstarter campaign for my new novel Metro 7, and through the support of a lot of people from this community it reached its funding goal in the space of 3 hours, and has already met its first stretch goal. I refuse to name names, because I’m not 100% sure of which IRL names match up with Kotaku handles, and I really don’t want to miss anyone. There are so many of you that have offered a kind word of support, encouragement and interest over the last 12 months, and I don’t know if i would have gotten to this stage without you all. This community is truly one of a kind
It truly, truly is.
Congrats to Benny who is the winner of this week’s Community Kudos.
Have a great weekend everyone and to those who bought a new Xbox One — enjoy! My gamertag is DriestBobcat. Hook a brother up!
Community Kudos is your chance to reward Kotaku readers/posters who have done incredible things throughout the past week: sporadic acts of kindness, deft commenting skills — if someone deserves to be called out for being an incredible human being, Community Kudos is the place to do it. Send nominations directly to me at this address! The winner gets a cool prize from my massive box of stuff.*
Disclaimer — I’m am really bad at sending stuff out, I have a list, I haven’t forgotten, I’m totally getting round to it. Sorry everyone!

Wooo! Way to go, Benny!
woop!
Yay Benny! Cheers to @scree for nomming @redartifice for me too! I put it in the comments of last weeks Kudos post that I wanted to nom him, but now I’m working full time hours, I’m never home in time to get my noms in on a Friday.. and of course after a busy day at work, I never remember cos I usually come home and keep working from home :\ I’m getting terrible at this.. Gonna go from king of stop press noms to the king of non-existent noms! :0 OH NOES!!!!
Not a problem. I wish I could have helped but I doubted that $10 would do much. I’m sorry I am kind of poor.
heheh it’s ok. I’m that kind of poor too, so I understand perfectly 😉 I’m still struggling a bit this week, but next week should be a little easier 🙂
I appreciate the thought though! Means a lot to me!
We poor people should stick together!
I’m glad things are looking up for you.
hehe indeed! I’ll still be struggling until February, but not quite as bad as I have been the past few months. I’ll still be about $200 shorter per fortnight than I should be, but there’s a light at the end of the tunnel at least! 🙂
Are there any places that offer Charity in the way of food parcels? It might help you get by if you get an unexpected bill.
not sure. I ended up getting a couple of coles gift cards from salvo’s last year when I was completely unemployed though. certainly helped at the time, but given I actually have a job now, I’d feel bad asking again. I’ll get by til february. not going to be easy, but should be slightly easier than previous months at least. Until xmas/new years anyway. Being still classed as casual means I wont get paid for public holidays, which is really gonna hurt at this time of year.
As long as you have a legitimate reason they don’t mind. For example, if a large gas bill comes up and you’re genuinely struggling, they’ll help. Don’t feel bad. Someone in my neighbour hood would spend her pension money on drugs and then Charity hop. So she’d go to all the charities to get money. As long as you’re not doing that, it should be fine.
