MGSV: Ground Zeroes Has Classic Snake Missions, Exclusive To PS3 and PS4

Hideo Kojima has just announced that Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will feature a 'MGS1 Deja-Vu' mission, exclusive to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, that references key moments from the Metal Gear Solid.

As players play through these moments players can enable a flashback system, which reproduces the 'vintage' visual style of the original Metal Gear Solid.

It reminds us of the genius 'flashback' moment from Metal Gear Solid IV: Guns of the Patriots, which allowed players to play through the start of MGS as a dream sequence. That was one of my favourite gaming moments ever, so I'm interested to see precisely how this flashback system will work in Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes.

Man - remember when this sort of Easter Egg/Fan Service was just part of the game?

      it still is.
As long as you buy it on a Playstation console.

Lame an announcement as this is, I'll defend it as Sony trying to dominate in the news and assume it being an MGS game - there'll be others

I'm a little annoyed that's it's exclusive, but I was getting the PS3 version anyway, so at least I won't be missing out. Still, it sucks that 360 and Xbox One players miss out on this stuff. Really de-values those system's versions in my opinion.

It's not that bad. MGS 1 was never on Xbox and it doesn't sound like it will add anything really to the story. Also we have youtube and plenty of other video sites for people to upload and watch the mission.

I remember when people used to scream about Microsoft tying up exclusive content deals - now you can't go two weeks without some other Sony Exclusive DLC being announced.

Yeah, that's pretty much how things are now. However you have to realise that Microsoft started it with the dreadful "Only on Xbox" era where hundreds of thousands was spent purely to damage their competitors by swallowing up IP's. Sony is only procuring a little bit of extra fluff for it's customers, not trying to stop the games from reaching other platforms.

(And lets face it, timed exclusives and extra DLC don't really mean much in the long run. Xbox Assassins Creed fans really didn't miss out on anything with the extra DLC that PS3 users got. In five years the next gen upgrade rehashes of these games will give you all this junk anyway)

That's true, but I personally feel like even small differences are enough to get the other version should the system be available to you. It's like, if a game advertises "30 minutes more content" on one system, so long as I have both, I'd most likely get that one since I always feel like I'm missing out on more, even inconsequential things. At least it's not pre-order exclusive, I suppose.

if it hasnt got Hayter voicing Snake then theres gona be trouble.

And why does Snake bear an uncanny resemblance to Snake Plisken from Escape from LA

Hideo Kojima is a huge film buff. MGS is heavily influenced by many films including Escape from LA/NY

Kojima's announcement was meant to be mind blowing, this was a bit of a let down to be honest.

Xbox players deserve to miss out on this. You either weren't there when MGS happened or abandoned Playstation.

Or you abandoned nintendo for playstation back with Metal gear... or you abandoned the MSX for both. Some of us owned the Twin snakes on gamecube too XD

I don't care about any of this...Hayter is Snake.
