Mega Man X?
I reckon it’s Metroid Prime Hunters.
All I can think of is the cancelled “Maverick Hunter” Mega Man X FPS that was being developed by ex-Metroid Prime devs but is now cancelled.
It had a brief stint on Kickstarter which would have “put it in our hands”.(Ed: No that was a different game with a similar name)Metroid Fusion?

I’m going with Metroid: Zero Mission,
although the X would suggest X parasite from Metroid Fusion, but I’m pretty sure fusion was before prime
edit: a quick googling confirms Fusion was a year before Prime
Yeah, Fusion was released first (You could unlock the fusion suit in Prime), but it was set later in the Metroid timeline.
Ahh, I think I could’ve guessed this if I had’ve been here earlier.
Not because I’m actually any good at these, mostly because I’m so starved of the metroid that any mention of the word “Prime” instantly makes me think of the series.
