This Is The Best Dark Souls/Game Of Thrones Story Ever And I Hope It's True

[WARNING: Game of Thrones spoilers follow] Today on a Dark Souls Subreddit I read the most incredible Dark Souls II story I've heard. It would be remiss of me to not share it with you.

A summoned player appears, in game, dressed as Oberyn Martel from the show Game of Thrones. What follows sounds almost too good to be true. Here is the story, as regaled by Banahanna:

I summoned him, and right when he joined my world he opened with "let me be your champion" over his mic. Creepily enough, he sounded just like the actor. Almost identical accent and diction. Then he asked that I do not interfere. So when we go to the boss, he starts screaming "YOU RAPED HER, YOU MURDERED HER, YOU KILLED HER CHILDREN." Then when he got him to half health, he looked to me, and then promptly died.

This refers, of course, to the death of Oberyn in the show Game of Thrones — one of the most shocking and brutal things I've ever seen on television ever.

But this can't be real, I thought. It sounds a little bit too awesome. No video footage, no screencaps, nothing.

But then, in that same post, another player basically admits he's been doing the exact same thing in other people's games.

I've been doing this for a few weeks now. I have been using a soundboard to play sounds from that fight and using the Ellaria scream when i die near the end of the fight. I've gotten a few messages from people saying they enjoyed it and many saying to soon. I'm glad other people had the same idea as me.

This is why I love the internet. And this is proof that not all online communities are toxic.

The Souls community is one of the best I've ever been a part of. Even the majority of invading phantoms have the courtesy to bow to your corpse after a good duel. It helps wipe that rage away ;)

Bizzare, it's one of the worst I've ever been part of, post demons souls at any rate. Take a stroll over to the dark souls II boards on gamefaqs and remember to 'git gud scrub,' regardless of anything you say in any context at all.

In fairness, I think that's more a game FAQs thing than a Dark Souls thing

Living in Australia means that connections are difficult for some reason (no joke I spent 2-3hrs in belfry luna and didn't get invaded once, lots of ghosts around me fighting invaders though) so for me it's a rare privilege to do multiplayer even if it's an invader so I always thank them if it was a good fight
