Whenever I think of BioWare’s Baldur’s Gate series, one line of dialogue springs immediately to mind: “Go for the eyes, Boo!” We might soon hear those words again, as Minsc and Boo will play a big role in Neverwinter‘s Elemental Evil expansion when it launches for PC March 17.
Having proved so helpful to players in the Baldur’s Gate series, the berserker-ranger and his miniature giant space hamster companion will be showing up in the expansion to Perfect World Entertainment’s D&D MMO, helping players track down the source of the Elemental Evil cults springing up along the Sword Coast.
One of the most beloved and memorable duos in D&D gaming history, Minsc and Boo are pretty much welcome anywhere they go. Despite his small size, Minsc contends that his animal companion is a miniature giant space hamster, the giant space hamster being an actual creature from the role-playing game’s Spelljammer setting.
Designed as part of Wizards of the Coast’s spring “Elemental Evil” Dungeons & Dragons theme, Neverwinter: Elemental Evil will introduce a huge chunk of fresh playable content, add the Paladin character class (finally) and up the game’s level cap from 60 to 70. The PC expansion will also be available on the Xbox One version when it launches later this year.

“Go for the optics!”
I seem to remember in Baldur’s Gate if you clicked on Boo in the inventory he would squeak 🙂
And there was the hamster you could get in Shepard’s cabin in ME2 or 3 (2 I think) that was a pretty strong reference to boo
Wait didn’t the neverwinter game take place 100 or so years after baldurs gate after the sundering? Minsc and boo should be dead shouldn’t they?
Boo is eternal.
A wizard did it.
Should have said a god did it, that would have proven me wrong considering the current Drizzt storyline involving all the reincarnations.
A wizard god did it.
See… perfectly rational explanation.
Err Boo is a miniature giant space hamster and your problem with this is the timeframe?
Is he though or is Minsc just a few marbles short?
Both.
Well by Minsc’s own admission Boo has been his constant companion since the er… head injury!
Hamsters and rangers everywhere rejoice!
Poor Minsc and Boo… no-one deserves to be stuck in Neverwinter’s latest digital excursion.
