Good morning you ess taayyyyy
With the free six month Presto trial we unlocked last week, Mrs Shane and I decided to invest in a Chromecast, and the cheapest way to get one was to sign up for a Stan 30 day trial.
We haven’t received the Chromecast yet, but we’ve already geeked out over the stuff available on Stan. The first thing we watched was Round The Twist (have you ever, ever felt like this…). We then spent forty minutes going through the lists of content, finding more and more stuff that we’d been meaning to check out, but haven’t been able to find room in the budget to purchase (especially Australian and British TV which is EXPENSIVE to buy on DVD.)
I set a reminder to cancel Stan before the end of the thirty day period. I have since cancelled that reminder, and started watching Better Call Saul.
We’ve drunk from the streaming Koolaid. We get it now. It’s exciting!
Although we haven’t looked at its catalogue yet, we’ll probably be getting a Netflix account as well. Between that and Stan, we’ll be able to see just about everything we want.
In other news, I played through Chapter Three of Telltale’s Game of Thrones.
The decisions in this game are so hard. It’s never clear which way things will go, which is kind of brilliant. They’ve really managed to sell the conflicting priorities dynamic for all of the characters. I’m not particularly attached to the people in the story, but the game design has sucked me in. My default position, attempting to play neutral, to keep everyone happy, PISSES EVERYONE OFF. I’m pretty sure that if I ever had to play the game of thrones, I would lose… badly.GAMES PLAYED THIS YEAR ([*] for finished, [+] for finished with)

Games played and finished this year: Dragon Age: Inquisition. In fact, it’s pretty much all I played for a whole quarter of this year. D:
I restarted it again as I didn’t pay attention properly but so far have sunk 8 hours into it and feel like I’ve hardly gotten anywhere 🙁 but that’s a good thing 😀 I even saw a dragon and ran away with haste
I’ve sunk a couple hundred hours into it and still don’t feel like I’m done with it. I ran away from dragons for ages and once I just decided to see what would happen if I didn’t run, and managed to kill it. So then I went on a dragon slaying rampage and killed all of them. And the trophy didn’t unlock. Apparently it’s a bit bugged. Apparently also it will unlock if you then kill another dragon on a different playthrough, but it didn’t for me. I’ve killed most of them twice and it still hasn’t unlocked.
I picked up an Apple TV and started on Stan when it launched – started Netflix at launch too and I’m very happy with both, have no intention of trying Presto (unless they stream Game of Thrones).
$22/month for what I’ve got out of the services so far is downright amazing, especially since all I’ve actually paid so far is $10 for my second month of Stan.
Presto won’t be streaming Game of Thrones (that’s what Foxtel GO is for). I can pretty much guarantee that. It’s where old Foxtel content goes to die.
That’s about what I figured. I had a look at the library (since Presto actually lets you do that BEFORE you sign up, unlike Netflix, Stan or Crunchyroll) and wasn’t all that impressed.
Still, maybe I should have jumped on the free 6 months deal just to see.
Oh, what did you think of Better Call Saul, incidentally?
I liked the first episode. More than I expected to, actually, given just how disappointed I was with the final season of Breaking Bad.
Still enjoying it halfway through the second ep. It’s too early to tell whether it’s got legs enough to keep me interested. I’ll stick with it until I get sick of it.
PS: Presto seems to be quite good for kids’ movies. They seem to have a bunch of Disney stuff, including the Ducktales movie! I think there will be enough to justify the free six months, but I don’t plan on renewing beyond that.
I was extremely skeptical that a Breaking Bad spinoff featuring Saul (even though the character is great) would be at all interesting. So far, I’ve been extremely engaged, it’s really surpassed my mixed expectations – I say mixed because I thought it would probably be a complete flop, but if it was good, it would be really good.
Um. Destiny. Elite: Dangerous. That’s ALL I’VE TOUCHED.
I feel so so inadequate now.
No need to feel ashamed about monogamy.
I’ve realised how many other games I could have completed in the 530-something hours I’ve spent with Destiny too. 😮 Still, value for money win…
Hey Shane!
I’m wondering what caused you to abandon LotF. I think I have a copy on Steam, but I haven’t got around to installing/playing yet. I’m a fan of Souls-y games, but I don’t have a PS4 and can’t see myself getting one in the near future, so Bloodborne isn’t much of an option for me at the moment.
I’m curious about why you consider it “finished with”… is there something you found lacking? Too cookie-cutter/clone-y to prioritise and make time for?
It doesn’t compare well at all with Souls games. I found it intensely boring, game mechanics were clunky, boss battles were frustrating more than fun and relied on mobs of enemies to offset the bad battle design, combat was irritating, and the whole experience just made me realise that the success of the Souls games is more of a lightning-in-a-bottle phenomenon than it’s being given credit for.
My problem isn’t, I don’t think, that it was a derivative game. Shadow of Mordor is a derivative game, and I thought it was great. It’s that it’s a very poor imitation of everything it sets out to emulate, and brings very little of its own innovation to the party to offset that.
If I had nothing else to play, I could probably have forced myself to keep going. But I put it down for something else (I think Telltale had released a new chapter of something), and realised afterwards that I didn’t miss it at all.
GAMES FINISHED THIS YEAR
Spyro the DragonYeah!
I still haven’t played any more Bloodborne. (Or Pillars.) But I have seen a bit of Mr. Strange playing it. He’s defeated two bosses, and is loving it.
Instead, I have played a bit of Final Fantasy Record Keeper. It’s actually super enjoyable!
I love Final Fantasy Record Keeper sooooo much. I haven’t played a Final Fantasy game since 13, so when I first heard about it, I had to give it a go.
Oh man, you should absolutely give FFXIII-2 a go. I loved that game!
Don’t have a working console to play it on, unfortunately. I wouldn’t mind if they issued a remastered trilogy edition for PS4. I’d play it then.
I’d almost certainly play it a third time if that happened!
Hey guys, how were your weekends?
Saturday I took my son to Toyworld, where we picked up a Mega Bloks Need For Speed Porsche GT3 kit (over 630 pieces) for half price (40 bucks), then we went and watched Shaun The Sheep: The Movie. Went home, started building the Porsche, watched Big Hero 6 (finally) and then went and watched Chappie. Really good day. Sunday finished building the Porsche and went to the in-laws for tea. So a pretty good weekend.
In other news, still no Bloodborne :'(

FYSHWICK ACT? Sounds like a law. “You are charged for offences under section 12 of the Fyshwick act”
It’s one of two red-light districts (or the nearest local approximation of same) here in Canberra, so you may not be too far off there.
Have they even given the slightest thought to colourblind horny people? Red/Green colourblindness is the most common after all, they’d just see a grey light!
No. Because they don’t want those people procreating.
IT’S HITLERIAN EUGENICS IN ACTION!!!
How was Shaun the Sheep: The Movie? I admit I have more than a passing admiration of Aardvark Animation stuff and I even watched the Tiny Timmy kid cartoon when I had to look after my half-sister. I just love the claymation style so much.
It was actually pretty good, would recommend it.
TEST 1, 2. TEST 1, 2.
Will this be moderated for 10 hours…? Watch this space!
I played Bloodborne a bit, then played it some more, and more, and more.
I’m really liking it so far, particularly the fact that pretty much anything can kill you if you get complacent. Finally found a shortcut to the first boss, so I’ll be happier dying against it now that I don’t have to run the gauntlet of several tough enemies just to get back up there.
Also went swimming at Manly beach – it was Jerusalem.
Bravely default is strangely addictive, and charmingly chibi 🙂
Finding a shortcut is super satisfying.
I just did Netflix’s “Personalise” thing and rated a bunch of stuff. It then said it would give me some suggestions in 15 seconds. “Top picks for Strange” then appeared…and a few of the first suggestions were things I’d just rated 1 star. Good job Netflix! 😛
It clearly thinks you should give those shows a second chance.
My wife likes horror/thrillers and it suggested American Psycho for her, which we bought cheap on blu-ray a few months back and discovered was 90% astonishingly terrible so that was mildly amusing.
Whoa, really, you didn’t enjoy American Psycho? I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say that before.
It’s one of those movies that places like 4chan and reddit like to hype up but I’m convinced most people who profess to like the movie probably just saw the business card or raincoat scenes on youtube. Its one of the movies I really wanted to like because it started out strong then it just kind of got lost in itself. There were some fantastic scenes that ramped up the tension but I think it ultimately suffered for thinking it was a lot more clever than it really was.
I can understand where you’re coming from, yeah. You should try to get a copy of the book to read, if you can, because there’s a lot more nuances in it that are very clever and interesting. Although it is a BANNED BOOK (ooooOOooOOoOOOooo) so it might be hard to find.
For real. The year of someone’s lord, two thousand and fifteen and BOOKS are still banned, wtf.
I think I will do that.
I will say for what the movie was, Bale’s performance was pretty excellent.

Apparetnly it’s due out next week, 3 FROM Software games in 3 weeks :O
Spent all weekend playing GTA V. Finally finished the main story and abused the stock market to get over a billion dollars on each character. Apparently it’s possible to abuse the system better to the tune of 2.1 billion but I’m perfectly happy just being able to buy all of the properties this time instead of last time where I was only able to buy most of them.
I wish the car garages worked more like the Marina/Helipad/Hangar. I mean, the system is right there – pick your vehicle from a list. But because over the course of the story I stole and modified several pretty nice vehicles, I don’t want to throw them out just to make room for the super-vehicles you can buy. The garages already support special vehicles (such as the ones you win in stock car races) so I’m unclear why you need to have space in a garage to buy vehicles. That suggests to me those vehicles can be lost, too, which would suck balls.
Anyway, I was in such a rush to finish the story that I neglected nearly all of the side content, which I expect to keep me occupied over the Easter long weekend. I’m going to try to avoid playing it extensively during the week because I completely ignored Destiny this week (thanks to the stupid Summoning Pits weekly/nightfall with arc burn because it’s a huge pain in the arse and I couldn’t be bothered) and there’s also a few shows my wife and I are eager to watch together. Hell, we’ve already done a catch-up of Better Call Saul thanks to falling behind, and now we’ve fallen behind again!
I’ve put GTA V aside for the moment. Just done the sub heist. With SA I found myself binge playing it. GTA V, I love it just the same but only in small quantities. It’s hard to explain why.
Destiny, I finally beat Crota on hard mode for the first time in however many failed tries thanks to glitches. It’s unbelievable how many glitches can ruin the Crota fight. Anyway, I now have the Crota hand cannon, auto rifle and pulse rifle, each with a different burn. The one I really wanted though is the scout rifle D: also, all my characters are now level 32 😀 I just don’t have any raid helmets across any of them. All my Destiny focus is now on upgrading every single piece of legendary and exotic gear that I have
It took me a lot longer to get through GTA V on 360 because I had to share with my wife, but since we now have multiple TVs/Xboxes I’ve been binging on GTA while she’s been watching Hemlock Grove non-stop since we got Netflix. I guess I did that because I wasn’t doing anything else.
I can’t be bothered doing Crota HM. I’ve had friends pull me through the abyss and bridge so I have multiple abyss defiants and oversoul edicts, and my Titan finally hit 32 (3 pieces of raid gear + exotic helmets), but since the main difficulty of Crota HM is that the enemies are overlevelled I’ll come back when there’s more expansions out and I’m level 36 or something. I guess I’d like the Deathsinger/Crota guns but I can live without. Like you said, the glitches make it a real struggle sometimes, so I have enough trouble clearing Crota on normal and a limited amount of patiences.
Well we have both TVs in my room now on account of the gf breaking her ankle and being unable to traverse stairs so she can watch Netflix (great stuff) and I can play Dragon Age, Destiny or GTA V on my headphones. The weekend was filled with Orange is the New Black, That 70s Show, Power Rangers, Captain America and Men In Black all while I strengthened the inquisition. The only downside is two tvs next to each other really heats up a small room quickly
I’ll definitely be limiting Destiny to Tuesday nights and the weekend if someone’s wanting to raid until House of Wolves is out and then see what they put on the roadmap after that. Hopefully ditching the last gen consoles. 20 million PS4s and however many Xbones should be enough of a consumer base for them to do that
Our loungeroom is given over to gaming so we have a little more space to work with. Since we typically play together I usually just have my sound turned way down and enjoy the ambient noise/music from my wife’s TV. Even if she doesn’t feel like playing since I’ve heard all the dialogue a hundred times I can clear bounties etc. while watching something on the other TV. If we play together we can usually still stream something on youtube and have the PC monitor between the two TVs.
I think the speculation/leaked information indicated that after HoW is “comet” which will be next-gen only and bring a number of upgrades and new content. Speculation is that it will be a free title update for current gun but old-genners will have to upgrade for a fee (and have a current gen console) if they don’t want to get stuck on Destiny v1, which as I understand it barely functions in some respects.
The Crota raid definitely has a lot of glitches but many of them can be avoided (Ok, more like mitigated) by making the swordbearer launch the raid on his own and then the other five players join him in game. This will ensure he is the host and reduce the glitches.
Well, Pillars Of Eternity is pretty damned cool. The difficulty takes a bit to get used to and there’s a few places where it feels rather uneven (as in level 2 enemies with level 5s in an area where I was level 3) but overall the game is pretty damned great,
If there’s one problem I have with it, its the lack of logical auto-attack. When you switch to a character to use a spell or ability, they often just stand there doing nothing afterwards just taking a beating so you really have to be on the ball making sure everyone is actually doing stuff.
Is Auto Pause on spell completion a feasible option for you? Too much auto-pause can get annoying, which is why I ask.
I’ve got a lot of autopause already, it’s probably a lot more sensible in the long term to train myself to use the command chaining thing. One of the tooltips mentioned you can chain commands using shift so I could shift click the spell then shift click attack to resume attacking and then hope the upcoming patch addresses the issue.
Yeah that’s one of my little annoyances however I’ve just gotten into the habit (after getting smashed in a few fights) to pause after a few turns pass and check all my characters. I have noticed that the issue you raised in regards to a character stopping attacks only happens with a few abilities. Most notably the magical tome blast thing that wizards use per encounter; all my other characters (i.e. rangers fighters etc) go back to auto attacking soon after casting an ability.
Yeah, it’s weird like that, it seems to be mostly spell related which is why I suspect it’s more of a bug than something intentional so I’m hoping that the patch they’re supposed to be pushing out in the next few days will address it
Hello everyone!
I haven’t really done anything.
I’m sorry.
You are forgiven, child.
Ooh-oo child / Things are gonna get easier…
Ooh-oo child, things will get brighter…
Aaand it’s stuck… Dammit 😛
SOME day, yeah. We’ll get it together and we’ll get it all done…
(I love being me)
It’s a good thing I only know the first stanza!
OH GOD IT’S REPEATING THE FIRST TWO LINES OVER AND OVER
“Haven’t really done anything” implies you did something, just nothing significant.
Put it in perspective, how much cellular mitosis and metabolising of food-contained energy did you get up to? I’ll bet there was a lot of that just to stay alive so it’s not like you achieved nothing! You probably even grew hair and shed skin so you were really quite busy when you think about it
No time for breathing, though. Not with all that going on.
People breathe? Oh yeah, I keep forgetting that other people can do that, I’m used to doing without oxygen for months at a time, bloody hayfever & deviated septum…
I remain in a perfect stasis devoid of cell activity when I’m not doing anything interesting. All or nothing, that’s my motto.
That sounds relaxing, I’d be kind of tempted to skip a century or two and become a 20th century historian. Hell, by that time the occulus rift might even have been released!
Well, i did some work on Numbers pattern, cut some tree limbs and sewed some sequins.
Oh and watched lots of netflix. The hiroshima doco was very interesting.
How’s Techy’s costume going?
His shoes are mostly painted. Morph suit is mostly painted too. The metallic blue parts are about 80% done. Armour, lighting, hand canon and neck piece are still in the planning stages.
Good morning TAYs. I think I have a candy hangover? We went to the Confectionery Warehouse last night and spent like fifty bucks and oh man. It was super great but tonight I am getting back into running on a regular basis.
And I have not played any new games in awhile, but I’ve finished nine books so far this year, and of those:
Two I really really loved.
One I was disappointed by.
One I haaaaaaated and had to force myself to finish and it was bad.
What was the really crap one & why did you force yourself to finish it if it was so bad? Sheer bloody minded stubbornness or was it a case of an okay story in a really crap game?
My assumption is that it was The Lesser Evil, and there was some sort of friendbligation in effect.
It was ‘The Girl on the Train’ and everyone (well, a bunch of people) were talking about how it was a really good thriller, and I was in the mindset that it might be a decent paperback thrill, you know, like silly but a good read, but it was not. It was poorly written and the characters were all assholes and I did not care what happened to any of them and just ugh.
I finished it because I’m stubborn? Like, I wanted to know the answer, but just, ugh. It only took a weekend to read, so it’s not so bad. I’m going to donate it to the library though – there was like 200 holds on that title!
Oh I completely misread it as game which is why I feel like a moron now, I shouldn’t read TAY as I’m getting ready to go to the gym, leads to poor comprehension.
I used to finish most of the books I bought since I didn’t buy many and usually completed them out of bloody minded stubbornness if I didn’t like them. These days I just think that if I don’t like something in any medium then it’s not worth my time and leave it be to move on to more interesting things like watching that patch of paint dry
Books!
I’ve been reading the first Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser book by Fritz Leiber, pretty good classic fantasy. Also picked up Neal Stephenson’s collected short works for ten bucks so have begun dipping into that
Also also, do you have a goodreads?
Missed 2 trains while guy behind the counter failed to top up my myki several times.
Missing one of the refund transactions from my bank account.
Missed catching shiny ho-oh when it dropped during the train trip (after ~1200 resets)
Week, you’re not off to a good start.
I think I understood about half of those words but the general impression is negative so that sounds bad.
I can’t imagine trying anything 1200 times. That’s dedication, man. Sorry it didn’t go well.
Should I upvote because I agree it’s crap, or downvote because it sucks?
My brain hurts.
Those Myki auto stations are sooooo slow too :/
It’s okay; your week will get better.
Morning all! Spent a lot of my weekend playing Bloodborne. Two bosses down.
And what I assume are the end bosses for the Church and Hemwick Charnel have shortcuts unlocked. Kinda haven’t faced either, as the run through Hemwick is netting about 20k echoes, so I figured I’d stay and farm a little. Trying to determine why my counter-shots aren’t consistently stunning any more – it’s really disconcerting. Maybe the enemies in Hemwick are just tougher to stun…Hola Tayberinos
Busy weekend! Friday got in 90 minutes of PILLARS then went with a friend to see Inherent Vice, which is really, really good. Don’t go in expecting to understand it, but as a dark side noir take on the hippie free love era it’s great. Also very funny
Saturday went and gave plasma in the city, then made the mistake of walking into a board game store and oh whoops Dead of Winter how did that happen. Looks great. Played some more PILLARS sat arvo then got invited out to a work dinner by a mate to an Argentinian restaurant. So good, so much protein.
Yesterday Netflixed for a bit, then worked out finally what I’m wearing to a Disney themed engagement party in a few weeks- I will fight for the User! Ebay is a wonderful thing. Then Pub.
A Monday Morning Question: Tron may fight for the User, but what do you fight for? Justice? Truth? A Hard Boiled Egg?
Family, I suppose. Can’t imagine going to the mat for too many other things.
Honour
Edit: Some more context. Fighting for the honour I aim for by doing what I believe is the right thing to do for everybody. The honour of treating everyone as an equal regardless of where they live or came from, so long as they do the same to others around them. Some would see me as a hero, some would see me as a monster, but I stick to my code of the Tech Knight regardless 🙂
Ooooh I want to see Inherent Vice so badly. I like Thomas Pynchon, as much as one can, but I haven’t read the book, so I’m looking forward to going in blind.
I fight for the right to party. Orrrrr for a gin and tonic and a good book.
Without spoiling anything, it’s like The Long Goodbye if Marlowe was stoned the whole time and dealing with his ex. in the best possible way.
I’ve not read any Pynchon, though I did buy Mason and Dixon the other week for my pile of reading shame
Oh I love The Long Goodbye! You are singing my song, friend. On that note, have you seen the trailer for Man From Reno? Definitely has that vibe.
I have not yet, but I will google it when I get home.
I love a good film noir. LA Confidential is the bee’s pyjamas.
On first glance I read that last part as “a good bonk”.
that’s a noble cause.
Survival.
Edit: And the last custard donut. I will always fight for that.
I fight for my friends. [/oblig]
Hey guys, just found out that this is a thing.
http://www.zavvi.com/games/the-recreated-sinclair-zx-spectrum/11092093.html
Holy crap. My first ever computer was the 128k, with tape player http://respwnd.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/ZX-Spectrum-128k-2.jpg
So many hours spent playing Gauntlet, Rainbow Islands, Boulderdash, Dizzy and many others I cannot now remember. My dad always got the Spectrum magazine as well. I never read it (I was 4/5 at the time), but the tapes with the cheat codes at the end where a godsend 😀
I did pick up a collection of Spectrum games with about 3000 on a cd a few years back. Safe to say, some things are best left to memory, but Rainbow Islands is still great fun to play
A question for the Bloodborners out there, have you been levelling up your character a lot and if so what stats have you been increasing? I ask because I feel I am levelling a hell of a lot more than I did in Dark Souls, mainly due to the fact that I seem to accumulate a crap load of blood soul shard thingies and I have no idea what else to do with them.
Actually that leads me to another question, does it seem easier to acquire more wealth faster in this game?
I feel like I’m levelling a bit slower than DS2, but faster than DaS. Level 25, focusing on spreading between Vit, End and Skill for my cane (which is at +5 iirc – been getting a bunch of blood shards dropping, so figured I may as well), and it seems to be doing pretty well.
But yea, it’s ridiculously easy to get echoes in some places – my current boss run has me getting to the boss gate and turning around because I don’t want to lose the 20k-odd I’d just accumulated on the run there. No way I’m risking that – it’s like 3 levels or a bunch of supplies.
I’m level 39 and have spread it pretty evenly between Endurance, Strength and Vitality.
I pushed a few into the gun one and arcane but only so I could use the gun spear dealy.
My Cleaver is also at +5, just need to find a few more twin blood whatsits to get it to 6.
I’ve been bumping up my vitality and endurance every now and then, but then a whole bunch into skill(? – whatever the non-strength combat stat is).
X-Com: The Board Game is a total jerk and a hell of a lot of fun to play.
We even won, without any form of cheating what so ever. Nosiree.
EDIT: Tabletop Simulator has very much become a “try before you buy” system for me. I’ll be picking up a copy of X-Com when I get the chance (and Dead of Winter when I find somewhere with it in stock…)
It was such an honest victory. >.>
Thanks for teaching Anton and I Sentinels by the way, we really liked that game. I need to play more of it 🙂
No problem. I love the game, so if you guys ever feel like playing it again, let me know!
EDIT: Thanks for having myself and @alexpants over on Saturday night as well. Was super fun being a jerk in Resistance and getting away with it and finally getting to play 7 Wonders (Hi @trjn!).
Oh man, that last game was perfect! such an amazing turn of events!
Also, not a problem, I’m enjoying having people over more often now 🙂
As a audio spectator and non-participant in said game, with an unbiased view, I can verify that this was indeed the case and is not a paid endorsement of any sort of Cakesmith, Rize and Blaghman’s tremendous abilities to virtually roll die.
I really should get Tabletop Simulator as the list of perks get better and better the more I hear of it.
It’s not perfect by any means, so many bugs in Tabletop Sim because PHYSICS!, but it’s just such a fun thing to do (at 9pm on a Sunday night…)
That much I know too with the bugs, but it’s just the thought of trying board games out before getting your own physical copy would really help you out in putting together a good collection.
It’s also great because I play a lot of games with @rize but he lives in the ass end of nowhere because he’s a massive jerk.
And playing Sentinels with @f4ction and @sernobulus.
I guess it’s ok playing games with @blaghman as well…
Many thanks to Loops’ friend for introducing me (and thus, most of Kotaku, seemingly) to the wonderful world of Sentinels.
Tabletop Sim is so gud and a ‘game’ I don’t regret. Though I consider it less a game and more an app.
That’s a pretty good way to look at it.
I’m hoping my Shattered Timelines arrives soon. Then I will have all of the cards (minus the promos…which I’m considering hunting on ebay etc)
Educate me about this tabletop simulator- it’s a board game sim thing?
@redartifice
It’s basically a sandbox. There are preset games like chess etc, but it has Steam Workshop so people have basically created everything in it:
http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/browse?appid=286160
Controls take a little bit of getting used to, but once you get your head around it, it’s a lot of fun.
@redartifice
Yes. #Helping #HashTagsForHarli
(It’s a PHYSICS based board game/tabletop systemy… thing. Has Steam Workshop support, and there’s a whole bunch of games there to play and be terrible at. Works well for some, less well for others.)
Edit: Dammit Cake! *Shakes fist angrily*
@cakesmith
hmm.
hmmmmmmmm.
I may have to grab that sometime soon
@blaghman Suck it, nerd!
@redartifice It’s only $15 normally, can get down to $7ish during sales. Do recommend. The subreddit is pretty handy as well – http://www.reddit.com/r/tabletopsimulator
I really should join more often… But I would feel bad barging in when I notice you guys playing 😛
Plus I feel like I asked so many bloody questions during dead of winter I was probably annoying everyone XD
I’ll add you to the list of people to yell at when we’re playing.
And feel free to barge in. It’s generally a case of more the merrier!
I’ll keep that in mind, I just don’t like being “that guy” 😛
You know, the guy that slows the entire game down with constant questions after barging in to play… Something something over thinking something confidence something 😛
@pixel_the_ferret_viking Eh, everyone takes time to learn things. It took Rize, Blaghs and I 3 hours to go through the tutorial for X-Com last night. It’s meant to take about 45mins…
The games world in Adelaide has a bunch of copies. Do you want me to grab it and send it next time I’m in the city?
Failing that, give them a call and they may send it direct. It’s Games World Adelaide Arcade
EDIT That’s copies of Dead of Winter, not XCOM. Though I have seen a copy of that in the wild
Ooo, thanks for the heaps up!
Looks like they do online orders…maybe…some kind of weird form thing…
Anyway, I’ll be searching my local stores again this weekend to see if they’ve got any more Dead of Winter in stock so I’ll let you know!
I think in the main they operate independently, so you may be better off giving them a call direct.
I did all the cardboard punch outs yesterday on mine, it looks really fucking cool.
Noted.
Yeah, I’m super keen to play it. It works ok on Tabletop Sim, but I imagine it would just be so much better in person.
Blehdbarn (progress comment, no major content)
Seems a little weird that 4 of the 5 bosses I’ve downed so far are dead ends. So I’m a little … stuck. Got one path that seemed to just end at a big boss arena without a boss (just a glowy thing that insta kills me), and apart from that, might go back and see if I’ve stumbled across some sort of password.Failing those two options, I may be at a bit of a loss where to go next.
Not sure if I keep doing things out of order and whether that’s affected anything
So, you’ve beaten the Cleric Beast, Father Billybob, Altar lady Stupidface, Poisonous Beastykins, and the combined might of Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg, right? Someinstructions in the next comment.Cathedral Ward, second exit on the left in the big circular, err, square, when you come up from the bonfire, you’ll need a password, but you already have it.That’s what I thought (had previously explored to there and was going back as the next thing to try) but hadn’t seen enough explicitly said at whatever point I gained that to tell me that I gained it.
Was it the random ground message that said “you need this thing” that, in fact, gave me the thing? Or some cut scene?
I think it was killing Vicar Amelia, and the cutscene that followed, but I’m really not sure, since I did all the stuff you have before I gave in and asked Saturday what to do.So I would have bumbled my way there eventually. Heh.
You should also try standing still while one of those bag fullahs takes a swing at you.
Howdy folks! How is all the things? I spent pretty much all weekend playing pillars & Bloodborne. Loving Pillars so much, so many memories of playing BG & IWD. Also I am enjoying Bloodborne, not loving it though due to the absurd loading times. Hoping they patch it soon or else I probably will quit.
Morning TAYbies!
It’s my birthday today! Already got some sweet loot from the wifey including:
Mario Party 10 (So much fun! MInigames!!)
Crysis Maximum Edition (PC)
Trials Fusion (PC)
Harry Potter 4-6 on Bluray
Dancing Groot Pop figure!
EVGA GTX 980 CLASSIFIED!! (Really, Really fast graphics card)
Apparently more to come! Not sure what i did to deserve all this. :S
Weekend was much fun. Breakfast at a cool place called Elk Espresso on the GC, shopping for new specs/sunnies, more of Heroes season 1 on Netflix. (The only really good season)
Playing some games and saw an amazing Easter production. 🙂
How’s was everyone else’s weekend?
Happy birthday, my friend!
Thanks, 🙂
How was your weekend?
Pillars of Eternity stole it from me. Where did it go? 😀
That doesn’t sound so bad. Haha
Happy birthday! \o/
Thankyou, 😀
@dc @redartifice @strange (yes strange I know you haven’t had a chance to play =P)
Pillars RANT!
What’re your team compositions?!? I’m not going to risk any spoilers so no names; however I’m currently running a priest, fighter, paladin, chanter, wizard and ranger. And can I just say to date the two most useful classes out of everyone in my party is without doubt my fighter and priest?! Everyone else just seems to do a whole lot of nothing =,=
Just made my way to defiance bay and I haven’t left for the last 6 hours >.< Dammit sidequests! =P
I’m on Act III, I change my party depending on who’s better suited to the story. (Side quests in the region, background and all that.) Absolutely loving the game. Probably enjoying it more than Dragon Age: Inquisition and I just loved that so damn much. The scope and scale is really impressive and Obsidian’s world building is excellent. I spend ages exploring all the towns and the cities. My favourite place so far is the Celestial Stone inn. So pretty.
Lol damn DC you’re moving quickly =P I haven’t even cleared Act 1 yet >.
I’m known for my quickness. 😛
Since you seem to be far enough along, you’d be able to answer the question I’m curious about:
When you have a stronghold defence mission, do companions you have stationed there count towards the forces you have in the fight if you auto-resolve it or can you manually resolve it with just companions rather than travelling there? If so, it seems like the easiest & cheapest way to win those fights would be to just hire a shitload of NPCs & store them in the stronghold just in case since you don’t have to pay wages for them. Not certain. I thought that auto-resolve meant the NPCs you hired, but… only have had like three encounters and manually resolved all of them. 🙂
I’m still two fighters, a wizard and a monk (walk into a bar)
I’m currently
standing in front of Raedric- tried to fight him once and got slaughtered which is about when I stopped on Saturday. Will pick it back up tonightOhhh, that fight was awesome. Everyone in my party (except my monk who died instantly) pulled their weight in that fight. Such an epic fight.
I got slaughtered, I think I need a better handle on my wizard’s skills
What build are you currently using red? I’m currently level 5 and from everything I’m seeing they’ve nerfed Wizards this game compared to the older games. I’ve kind of noticed my character is more useful laying down debuffs than actually putting out any meaningful damage. All my heaviest hitting spells actually have friendly fire included so it requires a lot of planning and positioning to pull them off properly and I only bother with that for boss fights.
P.S. My tactic for the guy you’re fighting below (doubt you can use it cos you dont have the right build) –
This is my go to kamikaze tactic whenever I come across a fight that’s too hard; I have my priest use a level 1 and level 2 DR boost and a regeneration spell following by my two wizards cooking everything between 4 flamethrower spells; it destroyed Raedric’s guards and him and brought them down to 2-3 remaining enemies and only one of my party members died. Also for people having trouble with any fight I cannot recommend eating food and drink before a fight enough; it makes a huge difference! At this point I’m stockpiling all my food and drink for tough unavoidable fights =P
I admit I’ve been focusing more on the story and the lore than the combat mechanics, I’ll have a look through my build tonight and see if I can do better 🙂 worse comes to worse I’ll go recruit some mooks
Have you gone exploring in all the regions between the towns and stuff (i.e. the forests)? There’s a few side quests you can do to boost your party level to make some fights easier. If you do decide to recruit adventurers I honestly cannot emphasize the usefulness of a priest class in your party; I’d go as far as to say that is the only class absolutely needed in combat! 9/10 if my priest dies my party is shortly to follow D=
Edit: Spoilered
You’re trying to fight Rhaedric with a 4 man team?? How in the world did you make it through the castle???Bluffed my way through, dressed as priestsBah subterfuge! I made a small fortune killing everyone and everything in that castle!! Including those stupid priest robes =P I did end up using all my campfires though >.< I should note it was also good practice because the enemies I fought on the way to Raedric got me used to the bodyguards he has when you decide to fight him; his priests and rangers are the most dangerous and should be nuked ASAP; try and immobilize or knockout the paladins and deal with them last.If a game gives me an option to talk my way through something, I take it.(Even though I wasn’t invited into this conversation … =P)
So far I’ve got a Cipher (Me), Monk (Custom Adventurer), Fighter, Wizard, Chanter and Priest. I found everyone is kinda useful except the Monk whom just instantly dies when a fight starts. Although most fights start with my Cipher casting an AoE which basically kills all the week enemies.
As far as progress goes I am still around beginning-ish of Act I and just got
my stronghold. When I found the stronghold I ended up wandering into the Endless paths of Nua and trying to kill the Spider boss on the first floor and getting my ass handed to me. I was like WTF GAME?! how am I supposed to kill that thing?! Then I looked up a guide and found out Maerwald was actually at the entrance to the floor =P How did you find the fight with Maerwald? Stupid A-Hole kept healing himself like crazy while I tried to kill him =@Honestly? I smashed that Spider Queen, probably helped that I did a tonne of exploring before fighting it. Also yeah, Maerwald wasn’t strong he just would never freaking die. I swear he was on near death for 90% of the fight.Yeah I hadn’t done too much exploring or too many of the sidequests from Gilded Vale yet so I was only Level 2? Maybe Level 3 when I had to take on Maerwald and the Spider Queen; I was also running a team of 1 Fighter, 1 Chanter, 2 Wizards (as my character is a wizard) and 1 Priest so I had no tanks whatsoever to block her little minions and my toons got smashed D=I’ve got my pale elf ranger archer, Fighter E, Wizard A (or as he should be known, Wizard Unconscious), Priest D, Custom Paladin/Barbarian (I had to make the latter after misunderstanding just how long a “turn” really was for the adventure quests), Chanter K & Ranger S. Oh and I just picked up Druid H but haven’t even had him in the party yet.
Ranger S is actually a bit inconvenient since she’s more or less the same build as my main character leaving me with only one front line fighter so I’m relying too heavily on the animal companions who tend to be glass cannons only without the cannon part. I’m thinking I might have to temporarily make the Chanter into a front line fighter until I can get my paladin back since I’d built a lot of my tactics around her or find another melee companion but then I’m not sure what that’ll do to the party balance since I need both the priest & mage for their respective magical abilities.
Chanter K is best used as a ranged character; dude hits like a truck with any guns you give him and given his songs allow you to summon creatures you can use them to take some of the tanking on. Haven’t found Druid H yet but I did get Paladin P who’s part tank part cannon rounding out my team quite nicely =]
Weekend was mostly Bloodborne, and definitely not cheating at XCom the board game.
Bloodborne I’ve knocked over five bosses, two of whom I was lazy and summoned in help (Saturday for one of them, and a random for the other). Currently at a brick wall composed of a coupla different places that completely wreck my face. Good fun.
On Friday I decided that since Fitbit had a badge for walking up 100 flights of stairs, I needed to get said badge, and that I’d do it on Sunday. So after waking up at 5AM on Saturday after a Bloodborne related dream (just typed that as disease, which is a bit of a slip) I got into it, and got the badge, which included jogging and wheezing my way up the stairs in my house about 75 times, and a bunch of other more casual walking.
On Sunday I decided to try the first stage of the couch to 5k program, and it was remarkably easy, so I can only believe that I’ve become everything I ever hated, and now I’m talking about it online, which only proves my point. *Eats another Lindt ball*
Good luck with couch to 5k, my friend!
It’s not going to happen, but I was curious.
Convinced myself last night that I’d get up and go for a wheezing stumble before the world was awake so there was nobody to judge me. *Cue me waking up at 9:11AM, and having a breakfast of half a packet of chips, and some Lindt balls*
So you’re saying there’s a way for me to play XCOM without buying a copy for myself? Do tell.
So my weekend consisted of Saturday regret (of the hangover variety) and Sunday shenanigans (of the tabletop RPG variety). Friday was a big night with work colleagues that went all over the places in the city and Valley. The Valley seemed unusually dead for a Friday night which was weird. Also I did the drunken stagger home to where I live because I didn’t want to pay for a taxi. I remember stumbling into at least one bush and I think a lamp post. Still was a good night though. The less said about the hangover the better.
I can tell the tale of Sunday RPG if need be but it would likely be pretty long as we played for 10 hours straight. Suffice to say that 40K Deathwatch is pretty great and I am the Marinest Marine who ever Marined. Rammed a shuttle into a fortified base at speed and we assaulted a traitor tank by falling on it without jump packs. 😛
10 hours, wow 0_o
I think I’m on the end boss of Type-0.
It’s been a fun ride, I recommend.
Unlocked the airship, was kinda hard at my level but I didn’t want to grind no more. It’s a fun airship.
I might even jump straight back into new game+, there was a few areas I found that were way too high level & apparently there’s extra story content & missions to do. Keeeeen.
Got over the shit graphics & camera pretty quick. The only other complaint I have is a bloated, underdeveloped cast.
The main narrative is great though, mature for an ff.
EVERY BUDDY GO PLEY NAO
Naw, Pillars.
Oh yeah, good news for me:
Remote Play works like a dream because it’s an old psp game.
& it’s an “easy” platinum. Most trophies are for playing & exploring. None if those “beat the hardest mission on the hardest difficulty” types or “waste your life away grinding for no good reason”.
The hardest seems to be catch 300 chocobos.
probably caught about 30
So my weekend included Being sore, (muscular Neck pain [hooray!]) was also on call for the weekend again, which meant having to watch channel 9’s election coverage.
So I did what any reasonable person would do, I invited people over to share my pain and take my mind off it by playing board games!
I also made an awesome cake
Was the cake in the shape of a board game? Or a sore neck?
No But it was made from Chocolate, and Stout!
The best pairing for stout is chocolate. Sometimes coffee. Also whisky.
http://t.co/D3xSc7LwQF (pics for proof)
Saw on Twitter, was jealous! \o/
Jammin!!!!
So stoked, Toejam and Earl: Back in the Groove not only got funded but managed to reach a few of the stretch goals also! \o/
I know @f4ction was keen for this also! (not sure if you backed it??) was kinda hoping they made the $600k stretch goal for PS4/XBO ports, but regardless, im almost certain it will be considered, as its the type of game that makes complete sense on a digital catalogue. That and the fact that its been created in the Unity engine should simplify the porting process.
In other news… And you guys can blame @Virus_ for this; Hoping i can get enough people together for some Quake Live shenanigans, like a “Quaking Thursday” or something like that… perhaps some name calling over TS is in order…
Tagging some parties i think may be interested: @tech_knight @tofu @virus_ ???
and lastly @lucifer9783 i worked out what was causing the garbage upon inventory access in atlantis… will give you the deets at some point on TS.
@virus__ damn it, why 2 x underscores???
Cause 😛
count me in, I still got that installed.
I’m on recall however so I may have to leave suddenly
Hmmmmm sounds intriguing! Give me a shout out if this happens to be a thing!
Happy New Week TAY.
Friday went to see the Victory with a couple of mates. Good game, good win for the team I have often called Melbourne Draw. everal beers during and after and I still made it to a respectable tram home. Although it was pointed out to me that I had apparently bought a Maccas on the way home. How does this happen…?
The Other Half was crook so a quiet weekend. I pottered doing chores. She monstered the whole of The Missing on Saturday. I played Elite and half paid attention.
Sunday she watched the World Cup Final and I played Elite and half paid attention… I also made a DELICIOUS chilli in the slow cooker. Nom.
Meanwhile as Commander Trikeabout I have just reached LAM 111 in the Fetus Nebula, almost 3000ly from Sol. Still heading away from Sol…
Currently kitting out an Adder (don’t know why I just love that ship) for some exploration shenanigans… Might take off for Sag A* this week, time permitting… When I return I should have enough monies for my clipper finally XD
Ah nice – I’m planning on turning corewards in a couple of days. I’ll keep an eye on your progress. Group photo somewhere out there!
Haha that’s actually not a bad idea, a TAY-wing photo out in the middle of nowhere 😛
@shane I just sent you an email. As it says in the email, for an assignment for one of my Uni courses I have to write a news story. I thought I might attempt to do one on the release of Bloodborne, but have it more focused on the story of Bloodborne and story in games in general (interactive verse passive telling, show verse tell – that sort of thing). The assignment requires I quote from interviews I’ve done, and since you’re both a writer and a fan of Souls games your thoughts are pretty relevant to the article I’m trying to put together. I put a few questions in the email relating to this and if you could answer them that’d be great. If not that’s okay too.
Should add here that if anyone else wants to give their thoughts on how Bloodborne tells its story for me to potentially use as a quote in this assignment that’d be great too. The more sources I have to draw on the better.
I replied to your email, but will say it here too in case the answer is relevant to others.
I haven’t played Bloodborne yet, but am happy to help if you can wait a bit. What’s the deadline?
Thursday. If you haven’t played it by then, any comments you want to offer on other Souls games or just story in games would still be a huge help.
Goooooooood Morning TAY-itnam! Still buzzing from a great weekend! Hope everyone had some awesome down time with Pillars, Bloodborne etc. etc.
Sorry in advance for wall of text… so much happened and I have to tell you all!
Thursday morning I woke up being older, a packed suitcase on the bed and finding out my wife had done some cheeky behind the scenes negotiating with my boss and got me Friday off work and an early mark on Thursday.
Car was packed Thursday arvo and I was being driven to a mystery destination and had a cooler bag full of beers at my feet… so I did the sensible thing and got drinking.
Destination was Peppers Resort at Kingscliff (just passed Gold Coast airport). Had some shitty traffic on the way down so Thursday nights plans went a little astray… but my birthday present from the wife was all the Bond flicks on BluRay in a massive box set which was awesome… only it was about to get better. Opened up a voucher for ocean jetboating and a helicopter ride for Friday morning! I was having a bond themed weekend away!
Friday morning was heaps of fun, had lunch at the pub then went for a swim at resort. Squeezed in a little bit of study by the pool. Went back to the room to be told to get dressed in my suit (me: what the?!) and wifey getting dressed into a smoking hot dress.
Down to the bar for martinis and on to an excellent dinner!
Saturday we just did a whole lot of not much… Swimming, fish and chips, beach walk, drinks and pizza for dinner.
Sunday snuck another swim in before check out then headed home, bought a new couch from Ikea on the way (old one broke after some partying last weekend), got it delievered same day.
All in all a seriously crazy weekend and one the best birthdays I can ever remember.
Only dodgy spot was when I went to fire up my n3DS for the first time (present to myself) and the top screen glitched out on me and went black. Was the weirdest issue… like a screen cable was loose and everything just went stripy then faded to black. I want to exchange it however it’s now working fine and I can’t seem to replicate the issue I was having on Saturday so don’t think an exchange will be possible because Target will say it’s just working… If it happens again I’m taking photos and we’ll see what Target says.
Now to finish my 1500 word assignment tonight that I’ve not started writing… and it’s due at 11:59pm today… All good things must come to an end I guess.
But how cool was the weekend!?!
Well done wife!
That sounds bloody epic! Very jelly!
The name is Lover. Hot Sweet Lover
Rad.
Morni- er, Afternoon, TAY.
My weekend wasn’t so great. Family stuff.
I did start playing Dark Souls 1 though, which is pretty cool so far. Do we still need spoilers for this? Just in case… My progress so far:
Just cleared the Forest area last night with the big butterfly boss. Not often you see a calming boss fight, it was cool. I’ve had to use two of the NPC helper summons though which is shameful (the one for the Gargoyles and one for the Butterfly). I’m playing as a Pyro because that class wasn’t in Dark Souls 2. I have a shiny big axe. It doesn’t prevent me from dying.Just got to the Lower Undead Burg last night before switching off.
Ahh, the Moonlight Butterfly is a fun fight. You spend a minute laughing, wondering how a butterfly is supposed to be terrifying, and then you mistime a dodge, get hit by the slow moving blast, and you’re dead. Good times. And as it stands, I think I’ve beaten the Gargoyles once by myself, and had to summon help about four other times to beat them.Oh, and the Lower Undead Burg boss fight is… something. Heh. Heh. Heh.
I was disappointed because I (somehow) beat the Gargoyles in Dark Souls 2 solo and on my first run. So when I saw that it was almost the same fight I got cocky. They must’ve downgraded them for DS2.They really, really did. (and/or put them far later in the game, when players are better equipped and levelled)In fact, every repeating boss was gimped in DS2. I think that might have been deliberate, though, because of the decaying world, etcHey, TAY.
Storm play tonight, AFL starts Thursday, and Carmageddon: Reincarnation is fucking awesome (and soon to be finally released)!
\o/
AFL!
…bloody Foxtel forcing me to watch dodgy streams.
I have been enjoying the handsome jack collection on PS4.
Apart from the load times while I farm eridium from the warrior.
Only need 450 more eridium till I have all the upgrades unless the backpack one keeps going up.
But is it just me or is the warrior really easy to kill?
Bloodborne is fun, I’ve barely died!
We moved D&D to Sunday and was busy for the whole day. As the Lawful Good Cleric, I kept getting into alignment arguments with the Lawful Good Paladin. Now I own my own pet Death Knight.
Spent the weekend up the coast near Tuggerah, hanging out with college folk again. Mostly sat around and watched people play games, although had a brief go of the new Mario Party. It’s weird. Also watched A Very Potter Musical, that chewed up the night.
Had to duck out for a couple of hours on Saturday, for an engagement party down in Lane Cove. There were some very brazen scavenger kookaburras there, swooping people for the food on their plate. Also I got a present – one of my friends who got back from Japan the other week brought me back these. Context: during our other trip a couple of years ago, I would just use the table water along with the gum syrup and coffee creamer at every restaurant to just mix up my own drink. So he started collecting a tub at every place they ate at, then right at the end of the trip he found that other thing and couldn’t not buy it 😛 Although they always seem to forget about the coffee creamer. Shame…
Did lots of driving. Especially on the way up, that trip took about an hour longer than it did coming down last night. Over the course of the weekend I managed to work my way through eight and a half albums.
Everybody is playing Pillers, or Weekend at Bloodborne’s 2 (Bloodborne’s back, and you’re still dead) and I’m just sitting here attempting to finish my assignment due midnight tonight, with a 2.5 year old playing Pokemon Shuffle on my 3ds and watching Bob the Builder.
Relevant comic: http://lunarbaboon.squarespace.com/comics/award.html
Things I am hating about this course so far:
1. Business Modelling
2. Everything else
Bring on the IT Business Planning part of the damn course (which doesn’t happen for about 3 more units, sob).
Weekend was: Distracting toddler with Netflix, distracting wife with Fantasy Life on 3ds and working on my assignment. I am very stressed.
And whilst it’s not been the best time to do it, I am beginning another quit the smokes attempt. They’ve brought out a mouth spray that gives you a small amount of nicotine straight in the gob, so it is helping in cutting down the smokes.
So yeah, looking forward to actual gaming time, which should be…sometime next decade.
Are you studying via OUA?
I have an assignment due midnight tonight too… 1500 words… need 2 process models plus some excel stuff. Need to pump out the words tonight… I’ve written about 15 words as ‘notes’ or ‘guides’ to what I want to write.
Gonna be my first uni-late-nighter in years… tomorrow will be interesting.
Well, depends.
Are you working for Conundrum Consultants in this assignment?
If yes…we’re unit buddies and we didn’t know it!!
Conundrum Consultants needs to be razed as far as I can tell… If it’s taken Mr Zhang this long to realise that Excel is a good tool for collecting/analysing data I’m seriously concerned for the wellbeing of the company.
Well… 1500 words (plus summaries…) and another process model in 5 hours… easy enough?
Edit: Depending on how far down the process model path you are.. gliffy.com is a great tool for swimlanes.
I’ve got my models, I’ve got my graphs (shat Excel graphs out while half asleep the other day).
I’ve got slightly too many words and now I have to write about Web 2.0 stuff. Which is wank. Total wank.
But…it’s not worth the 10% off for getting it in late. I’ll let you know when I get mine in.
(Also, thanks for the gliffy, I used another program and the trial ran out today, just as I managed to export my models via picture. Will look into it!)
Fuck. That. Shit.
Realised at 10:15pm QLD time that I had 45 minutes to finish and not 1hr 45mins.
Smashed out the most bogus exec summary and introduction I’ve ever written. I hardly even think my introduction addressed anything of relevance… Although somehow, miraculously even, it’s come in at 1484 words.
I actually don’t want to read any of it… because whilst I was attempting to proof read as I wrote the bulk of it I’m certain there are a few non-sequiturs scattered through out.
I need a beer.
Also, Mr Zhang needs to go retire somewhere.
WHO DOESN’T USE EXCEL???
@sunsoar77 good luck with your assignment you two! I haven’t played videogames in a while but I have been Netflixing and doing uni stuff instead. Make sure you both have some time that is for stuff you enjoy too (I say this as someone who intermittently works 13 hours a day for 7 days straight). Otherwise your brain just doesn’t work quite as well.
BLOODBORNE IS AT MY HOUSE AND I’M NOT WAAAAAAHHH
Resigning your job seems like the sensible thing to do in this case… Make your living streaming playing Bloodborne!
Thank god its a 4 day week?
Mate, Ima need your thoughts on it ASAP.
BLOODBORNE \o/
I was very disciplined tonight, and did everything I needed to do for Undad before playing.
Had a few deaths early on, getting the hang of the mechanics, but making steady progress. I just took down the Cleric Beast solo, first try. It was a clash of titans, all right, and it came right down to the wire in terms of supplies. Awesome battle. Love that there was no opportunity to cheese or drastically reduce his health (that I saw), like with the first two bosses in Dark Souls. No hiding behind a shield while you learn his moveset. But then, he didn’t really hit all that hard for such a large boss (my guy could easily absorb two or three hits before he was in trouble, and there was always ample opportunity to heal up). Though overall, the challenge in this game seems pretty decent. Without decent ranged weapons or spells, there aren’t all that many ways to cheat the AI in this game (pebbles are awesome, though), which means you have to fight the ‘proper’ way. I dig it.Another long weekend coming up, second long weekend in a row that I’m on recall, urgh… :'(
So I’ve decided I want to take a shot at making my own tabletop game… now all I have to do it try to turn my ideas into solid mechanics.
…. Ohhh mannnn……
Edit:
Still don’t know what a Bloodbone is, but people sure seem to be excited about it. Is it some type of fertaliser?
>:(
It’s the new craze for growing puppies! Bloodbones! Get them at your nearest pet store today! Limited offer for any that come in before 4pm and get a free blood red collar absolutely free! That’s right, FREE!
So tabletop as in the RPG variety or tabletop as in stuff like 7 Wonders, Ticket to Ride, etc?
I have a prototype board game half done
Found a game with a similar mechanic and theme which annoyed the hell out of me and put the kibosh on it, but it hasn’t reviewed well so I may tweak it and try again
As in a tabletop skirmish game.
I want something that bring the fun of stuff like 40k, infinity, Warmahordes and more, but in a quick fun format that anyone can play with pick up and play rules.
For that reason I have decided to make it a table-top version of an FPS. Basically having a group of people around a table in a variety of game types, all with a single model and resparwns, etc. Gamed would be timed by turns and would aim toward fluid play. It would involve spawn points, pickups and a blip system I have come up with that would alow you to move without the opposition not knowing where you are in exact detail until they get visual on you.
Add to this a variety of both serious and silly factions, as well as build options for people who love to build, paint and customise, and those who just want to pick up and play.
I’ll be honest, i’m pretty excited by the idea.
Oh. and terrain would be modular and themes (i’ll call these ‘map packs’) and played on a supplied mat
Not to put a damper on your enthusiasm but there’s a game that’s similarish to that called Frag.
Yeah, i know of frag, but it’s pretty small scale and not really impressive and has a realllly pretty low rating on BGG.
Maybe i should pick up a copy and see how it compares to what i had in mind.
Research is king
No.
Bruce Campbell is.
DAMMIT LOOPS! Stop pronouncing it wrong! It’s Bloodporn.
The NEW lubricant of choice
We went over this the other week.
It’s explicitly NOT a lubricant.
Not with that attitude.
Which is a very healthy attitude.
If you think otherwise you should see a counselor.
Dude.
Blood clots
if you are trying to change my mind it is not working
Booooooo!!!
gummy bears, bouncing here & there & everywhere
high adventure that’s beyond compare
They are the Gummi Bears
Now it’s stuck. Thanks.
😉
It’s funny, cause I wasn’t even born when the show was on.
Me too!
I was born many years before! :p
You mean after?
Also, I will not be able to go to sleep due to this song.

Good lord, you’re much older than me.
Also, I get the joke now.
hhnnngggg must go home and play Pillars of Eternity!! DAMMIT WORK! WHY MUST YOU RUIN ALL THE THINGS =@
@sernobulus @aliasalpha @dc @redartifice Pillars trivia to tide me over till work’s over!!
What in your opinion is the most OP class in the game so far?
The Giant Miniature Space Pig
Time Travelling Space Marine
In all seriousness, I haven’t looked into Pillars but is it like a throwback to the old Fallout/Baldur’s Gate kind of game? Because if it is, I think I will pass. It sounds interesting, but those old IsoRPGs never grabbed me.
Haven’t got far enough in yet to judge
What race are you playing? I’m an Aumaua that looks a bit like River Song from Doctor Who, so I have dubbed her River-that-bends. I also made a tanky fighter, so he is Wave-That-Crashes
Hahah damn that’s taking the role play element to a new level =P I had to go a fire godlike cos you know… I’m on fire and all =P In retrospect now that I understand what all the stats do not the best decision as all the godlikes have abilities that proc after losing about 50% health and as a wizard if I drop below 50% I’m about 2 hits away from a KO >.< !!!
I’m playing a Godlike but I got that ability removing bug so I actually get no racial bonus’. I could add it via the command menu but then it blocks all achievements. =(
I’m really finding the Cipher a powerhouse. I can keep an enemy stunlocked for an entire fight. Wizards or people with high will save can be a pain though.
Also I get almost no limitations on what spells to use due to getting max focus at the start of a fight. Plus I’m dual welding weapons so every hit I generate something like 2 focus.
Yeah? I’m personally finding my Wizard completely ineffectual… If I had to play this game with my own character he would’ve died with the wolves at the start =P It seems almost every enemy is able to resist my default attack, and being able to cast 6-8 spells per rest leaves me completely under powered >.< I’m really hoping it picks up down the line D=
I was going to roll a Cipher however I figured they would be the underpowered; so much for that assumption I guess =P
I feel that the biggest problem with wizards is that they have to rest to allow them to recast spells. Makes me very unwilling to use spells.
This! Lol I keep holding off on using my spells thinking I’ve got to save them for a tough fight and then a tough fight never comes and all my tanks are close to losing all their health forcing me to rest! Then I rest and the first fight I come across forces me to use all my damned spells meaning I don’t have them for future fights!! DAMMIT! Catch 22 at its worst D=
Hard to say, everyone seems pretty balanced from what I’ve used thus far but the mage spells are pretty underwhelming as well as them being weak as cardboard so they’d be the one I’d class as the weakest thus far. I imagine they’ll hit a dramatic power spike at some point, most of the time that’s how mages go in these kinds of games.
Most of the overpowered things I’ve encountered have been enemies who, when I’ve finally killed enough of them to unlock the bestiary entries on, have turned out to be 2 levels above me…
Lol tell me about it right??? However there was one enemy I was absolutely getting smashed against and those were the shadows and phantoms from Gilded Vale; at that point in time my party didn’t have any enchants or magical spells to get through them and you fight so many of them back to back >.<
How good is that sword from your fortress though!Beat Raedric in his tanky face after going and generating a priest to buff my shit. And then met Durance.Dammit. Oh well, my other priest is cool and I’m sure will be useful at some point. just got to Caed Nua after clearing out some forests.
Hahaha yeah I didn’t want to spoil anything for you by mentioning you’ll get a priest companion in the future; for what its worth and from what it sounds like it seems like you end up with at least one of every class as you progress through the story! Have you completed the quests at Caed Nua yet?No, only just got there and met the chanter, thought about heading further in but decided to call it for a night thereI only just grabbed my first team member so can’t really say.
Personally I’m playing a Aumaua Monk for something totally different. Punch all the things \o/
Monk bro!
That’s Monk bro-ess thank you very much
Well, mine’s a female Aumaua too.
If these recordings don’t make you want to play Xenoblade right now, then I don’t know what will.
Hello.
Who’s this guy?
😛
Just kidding, mang.
We love ya. 😀
Hi Freeze!
How goes Japanaland?
Urgh, you’re so clingy.
A few things happened on the weekend. First that TAFE test I was so worried about on the last TAY I passed. I’m not sure how I did it. I simply hadn’t done the required reading. (To be fair, there was a lot. The lecturer kept saying that each chapter could be cleared within an hour, but it took about 11 hours per chapter)
I guess I drew upon my reserve knowledge of computer-y stuff and tried to answer questions I didn’t know why deriving them from the logic of things I already knew.
Almost everyone finished about twenty minutes before I did, so I could spend about the same time going over each and every question, looking for holes in my initial logic. Then, I finally pressed submit, (it was tested on a computer) and whooped for joy when I found out I had passed. No, I didn’t whoop. I literally jumped out of my chair and threw my hands up like a Toyota commercial. The guy next to me completed his twenty seconds after me, and gave a similar, if more restrained celebration. I gave him a massive high five and left the room. I was kind of happy at the result. I apologise for whinging about TAFE last Friday, I had to vent at my carelessness.
Remember when last week I said I wanted to attend a WAFL game, but chickened out? On Saturday, my mother offered to come with me and watch it together. I had a fair bit of fun. I bashed my leg with a chair. Had to leave at the end of the third quarter so my mum could go to an uncle’s 50th. While my mother was getting ready, she told me to write a card. I thought I should do something special if it’s his 50th, so I spent twenty minutes trying to write the perfect card to warm his day. I’d like to think I achieved that, even if I didn’t go to his party.
The WAFL game I watched was also the one that got television coverage that week, so I recorded it and I’m currently watching it to see how it ended. Perth looked set to deliver quite a comeback, so it should be an interesting watch.
Congratulations on passing your test
I don’t know if it’s the pie I had for lunch, but I’ve been farting like crazy all evening… 🙁
Uni assignment in with 3 minutes to effing spare.
3 minutes.
3 damn minutes.
Literally with minutes to spare.
…I haven’t felt this anxious since I attempted to watch The Ring at a midnight viewing.
See earlier post and twitter.
Think I hit submit with a minute or 2.
Beer time?
BLOODBORNE \o/
I was very disciplined tonight, and did everything I needed to do for Undad before playing.
Had a few deaths early on, getting the hang of the mechanics, but I’m making steady progress. I just took down the Cleric Beast solo, first try #humblebrag. I dig it.I like this post more because of the hashtag ;D
There’ll be plenty more humblebragging, I’m sure… at least, there may be, before this game crushes my gentle spirit.
“Hmm what is something I can do that isn’t go to bed? Nothing? Ok lets do that.”
Every night.
To highlight my poor luck yesterday, consider the following:
A sleeping level 50 ho-oh on 1hp renders about a 7.08% chance to capture with one premier ball. Given that it only has 5PP moves, that gives me about 15 moves of putting it to sleep, and 2-3 attempts in a sleep cycle. I probably managed about 13 cycles and ~30 attempts.
7.08% may not sound like much, but over 30 tries that’s about an 89% chance of success.
While it may seem stupid that I’m using premier balls when an ultra ball’s 2x modifier yields an 11% chance, this would increase the 30 attempt rate to 97.7%, and be rather ugly (so I like premier balls, what of it?).
Yeah, maybe I’m a little stupid. Think I proved that with the 1200 resets it took to get that chance as much as the odds I’m giving myself.
Maybe I need to get some trick support to put leppa berries onto the ho-oh to replenish its moves. Each one of those would yield 5 more moves, minus the time to switch and trick, so realistically 2-3 more moves, which could possibly be 10 more sleep cycles and 20 more attempts (current rate would mean a 97.4% chance of success on 50 attempts).
The other option would be to buff myself with capture o power before each encounter. That would mean a 14.07% individual capture chance, projecting to a 98.9% chance at 30 attempts, but probably makes each reset cycle about 1.5 times as long and a lot more fiddly – more coordinated and hands on, whereas normal cycles can be done without even opening my eyes.
Might be easier to keep rolling for that 89% chance instead of taking time out to switch things up.
Flinging a Leppa Berry might be a better option than Tricking one for giving Ho-oh a PP boost because it takes affect straight away (at the cost of giving it a bit of damage, which you might not want to do) – would need to see how much damage it actually does.
Also, if it has the Pickup ability it gets a forever replenishing supply of Leppa Berries (Pickup makes a Pokemon with no held item pick up the last-consumed item, which includes Flung items – maybe that would work with Trick as well)
Hmmm… It’s a 3.11% capture chance at full HP… 61% at 30 attempts, 79% at 50, and 73 attempts to break past the 90% mark. 108 attempts with paralysis instead of sleep (at 2.12% capture chance)
Does seem like a worthwhile tactics change – nerf the attack and accuracy on the target, paralyse, then spam premier balls, occasionally fling from an infinite leppa supply, and switch to a second flinger with infinite sitrus to heal if it gets too low.
Probably pretty decent odds in the long run.
Maybe something with Heal Pulse might be better than a Sitrus Flinger (just because if it gets too low you might not want to risk damaging it with Fling before it gets the Sitrus heal)
Unfortunately there is nothing that gets Pickup, Fling and Heal Pulse 😛
Thinking I can still stick with my current plan, but have a healer to switch to once I get to 15/20 moves used, then start flinging after 2 heals to hopefully get 10-15 moves back, then go back to the main plan. Supplemental support.
Simple beam and yawning to put to sleep will help too.
Sounds like a plan!
Gave it a test run, looks like pickup doesn’t activate for a fling hit as it doesn’t count as another Pokémon consuming the berry. Switcheroo or trick looks like the way to go.
Going to need at least two to swap items – one straight up to take the held item, then a pickup / trickeroo / sleep inflicter will take the job from there.
Really? Bulbapedia says it does… Hm… No idea what’s going on then! It should pick the berry up at the end of the turn that it is consumed on. How strange.
Bestow is also another option to give out items. Trick is probably easier because it’s a MT though.
Yeah, guess the consumption is triggered by fling rather than being hit by fling. I need to lead with an item switch to take the sacred ash, and then have a different ‘mon with trick / switcheroo / bestow and pickup. Preferably also a sleep move and a bit of tanking ability. Then again if the lead can soak, simple beam, 3x accuracy reduce (3x attack reduce, 3x special attack reduce?), shouldn’t be so bad to stand against. Won’t even need to count moves provided I just send the picked up berry the very next turn from when it’s consumed.
Ohhhh, the Sacred Ash! I completely forgot about that. That would explain it then. Yeah, you need to get rid of that first with Trick or Thief or something.
First turn Trick a consumable item on Hooh to get rid of Sacred Ash, then you can Fling away after that item has been consumed (or just Thief it in one turn – lots of things learn Thief, maybe work it into your lead sleeper/soaker?)
(I gotta say, it’s pretty fun trying to come up with these complex strategies :P)
Think I still prefer trick/switcheroo/bestow over fling since fling randomly restores one move when it hits, but a held berry will kick in and completely restore a move when it hits 0. Seems more efficient provided that I can have the pickup replacer in play when that consumption happens.
Fair enough! Let me know how it goes.
Confirmed with more testing: fling and pickup is not a combo, since fling is a self consume and pickup is another ‘mon consume trigger.
Bestrickeroo and pickup is a hard combo though since I can’t seem to be able to achieve the trifecta of both those plus a sleep move.
Recycle and fling, on the other hand, both move tutor attacks, fairly common, can come with sleep attacks (and heal pulse as a 4th at least on slowbro)
So… Here’s the numbers. Bestrickerooup with paralysis and 1HP is a 4.9% chance per ball. Not very fiddly since it’s just a matter of firing off the move after each consumption, and stay alive and spam balls. Linoone can have 56 moves since it can learn all 3, but that’s semi-moot if I have a big stack of berries anyway. 4-5 balls for one action, 220 – 280 attempts without restoring PP on a single linoone. Plus, guaranteed at least 8 moves remaining whenever consumption triggers.
Flingcycle with sleep is 3.3% at 100% HP, 5.5% at 50% HP, 6.5% at 25% HP. Cycle can be yawn, fling then spam balls until it wakes, yawn, recycle, spam. 6 moves per cycle, at least 5 moves remaining after each fling. No good there. Would need to recycle in first sleep turn to stay ahead. Means only 1-2 balls per cycle. Rather inefficient on actions vs chances to capture – most likely 3 moves to throw one or two balls, might get dicey trying to restore PP across those as it drags on for a while. Could throw down some x accuracy and switch to hypnosis, but still same issue of move use vs ball throwing for long term attrition.
Looks like it’s back to my old friend paralysis. I always thought it was easier than sleep.
Might need to re-strategise one day for landorus, but for now this is probably my most reliable process available.
Edit: heh, that opening soak would mean that landorus is no issue either…
After all this work I’d say you’ve earned this shiny Hooh 😛
I knew it was only a matter of time until the ~90% strats would fall short, so now I just need to readjust to something a little closer to guaranteed.
Probably the most challenging ones to go after will be palkia and regigigas since they require 3/6 of the party to be taken up with their trio.
I’m stuck in a room this morning with all of these boxes filled with Easter egg: http://m.imgur.com/IwQPDIB
Send help.
Do you need help eating them all.?
I would be happy to help you with that.
Step by step instructions:
1. Pick nearest box
2. Pick egg closest to you
3. Eat
4. Repeat until room is clear.
I think the sticky tape must be the extra strong stuff so @highperformance is asking for a stanley knife
Instructions not clear, tongue stuck in blender.
So I succumbed to the hype and bought Bloodborne. Never played a From Software game before, but from what I’ve read, I’m in for a treat. I notice that you can ask other players to help you – I’m guessing I need to be a PS plus member for this?
Yep, you need PS+ for multiplayer shenanigans. You also need to have made it to the first boss solo before it even becomes an option. Good luck!
Cheers mate, might need to pony up the dosh!
With the free games each month, it totally pays for itself (especially if you have a PS3/Vita as well!)
Just got up and checked the tracking on my Bloodborne order, it said “delivered”. Went out and checked the mail, nothing, checked around the house, nothing, went back inside and looked at the tracking information, it said “0:609 With Australia Post for delivery today”, then the very next entry was “06:11 Delivered”. Hmmmm, there’s no way the postie could get to my house in 2 minutes, and the earliest he’s ever come is 8:30. Something funny going on here.
Aw man, I hope you get it today!
If it’s not here by 5 I’ll be emailing Mightyape and getting them to get onto Auspost. This has happened once before. I’m guessing they just mark everything as delivered as soon as it comes in.
Just had a better idea, can’t believe I didn’t think of it first. The other half of one of the women at my work just so happens to work for Auspost, so if it doesn’t turn up today I’ll get her to get him to check it out for me.
Preemptive carding?
My first thought, too. But it wouldn’t say “delivered” – it’d say “left at depot for collection”
It’s called, “the sub-contractor has dumped today’s deliveries at the local post office/newsagent, and will be dropping a filled in card in your letterbox later today giving you precisely 30 minutes to collect your parcel between 4:30 and 5pm”.
Here’s how it works around our place:
We live just around the corner from the LPO so one time when my wife was waiting on an order (I happened to be on leave that week) when she saw the delivery status update at 1pm. I went down there:
“Nope, no delivery, did you get a card?”
“Well, not yet, but here’s a screenshot of the tracking data showing an attempted delivery even though we’ve been home all day waiting for it.”
“Do you live in a house or unit?”
“Unit.”
“Ah, well, they’re not required to deliver to units, so they leave a card.”
“My wife’s aunt, who’s a manager at the Australia Post parcels facility would disagree with that assertion. Besides, he didn’t leave a card either.”
“Sorry, don’t know what to tell you.”
“I’ll be back.”
Around 4:50pm I go back and the driver is dumping a van full of parcels with the LPO. I ask what’s up, he repeats the line about not being required to deliver to units. I wait until he has finished dumping his parcels behind the counter to request my wife’s delivery. This takes us past 5pm, when the LPO is supposed to be closing, which REALLY pisses them off.
Of course my wife’s parcel was there. I also requested a complaint form while the driver swore at me and stormed out.
The next morning I went for breakfast at McDonald’s. Apparently the card notifying me I could pick up our package (which I’d already collected) was delivered sometime between me leaving at 9:30 and returning at 9:50, helpfully informing me I could pick up the package at any time after 4pm the previous day. \o/
For any Worms fans out there: bundlestars.com currently has a Worms bundle with a decent selection of Worms titles… For $2.99 seems worth the price
I miss Worms
It’s your fault for taking that tablet.
hey everybody. Yes, it’s about the bookmarks again, so you can skip.
I’m going to change Epona slightly, but it’s about the next one.
What should it be? Cucco is one suggestion. Gannondorf is too complicated. The characters I’ve done are Zelda, Link, Epona and Midna.
I’m open to suggestions
Maybe A Mario, Luigi, Peach, Donkey Kong, Toad set.
I wanted to make one more Zelda one first and make it a set of five
Tingle!
Wolf Link?
I would say either Tingle or Toon Link
Navi!
HEY LISTEN!
Navi.
Linebeck!
Sheik or Tingle. Ooh or a Goron, Deku kid or Zora. Zora could be cool you could make it all water themed with waves and stuff. But I’d say make whichever you want to the most :).
Great work so far.
My mum’s workmates signed up for Foxtel because they got told by Foxtel reps that piracy won’t work on the next season and the files will break your computer and you’ll get arrested.
Something seems fishy here.
Indeed. Everybody knows know get redacted, not arrested
Seems legit.
Though, to give them the benefit of the doubt for one second, there might have been a genuine discussion about the risk of malware and the pending piracy legislation.
I imagine they’re still in the cooling off period if they wanted to cancel.
Eh, stuff ’em. They’re a bunch of idiots anyway 😛 Generally speaking.
If a representative of Foxtel stood on my doorstep and accused me of piracy (no matter how justified) then made misrepresentations about illegally downloaded files being designed to break my PC, I think I’d report their conduct to the ACCC.
To be fair, we don’t know how that conversation went. We don’t know it was a doorstep conversation, and we don’t know that they were the first ones to bring up piracy.
True, my post is a bit of a strawman/shower argument about what I would do in that situation, which I pretty much made up out of the limited facts presented to me via anecdote.
They forgot the part where Jesus appears next to them and pulls out their heart.
AHHHHHHHHHHHH
Girlfriend picks up the keys today for our apartment. (first time actually living together)
That, and I’ve spent like 2k in the last week on the bond, lounges, a fridge, washer, tables etc…
Is this what being an adult is?
I don’t like it… I’m going back to bed.
Congratulations! And having no money because you spent it on not-fun-life-stuff… yep, that’s adulthood in a nutshell. Enjoy it.
That and cleaning, like, everything. Seriously. Things you never imagined needing to be cleaned need cleaning.
Especially the hair. So much hair and it’s goddamned everywhere.
Oh god the hair!! Why is there always so much goddamn hair >.
I bought a new vacuum cleaner on the weekend. It’s unbelievable how effective (and quiet) it is compared to our old one.
I really am a 32 year old.
You went out and bought a vacuum. That was what I request as my major birthday present last year
What’s a birthday present?
Any money for any birthday present’s for me gets spent on food or bills.
We don’t really do presents. I guess it’s because we’re a single-income couple with no kids, it’s like… we just buy what we need when we need it, finances pending. This was my bonus month so it meant a few extra options were available.
Yeah, we generally just do little things.
We didn’t essentially need one but it was something that would help a lot. So I got that as a birthday gift to kill to birds. Rather than just buying little things that are clutter we can get things we want actually need but are too big for random expenditure.
I bought a Dyson a few years back and was legitimately excited about it.
I was 22.
Yeah well Dyson’s are awesome =P
Ours is a Hoover prestige 7010 which is supposedly $500 but “on sale” pretty much everywhere for $149 which seems like bullshit to me (one of those “advertised as a sale price but it was never actually available at the original price” deals). Whatever. It’s markedly better than the thing my wife’s grandmother bought us as a housewarming present 10 years ago.
Y’all need to get on my level and commit to a Roomba.
When Skynet comes online I will be spared, for I am a kind and fair master to my Roomba.
My god my bond alone was around 2.5k; how in the world did you get all the other stuff within 2k 0,0
Side note; it’s all downhill from here =P
When I say 2k, I mean that was my contribution, K also paid her half 🙁
Aaahh that makes a lot more sense =P Welcome to never having money!
On the plus side, at least you weren’t moving interstate. That adds far more to the equation than I’d like.
Done that. Don’t want to do it again ever.
I went from Brisbane to Sydney to Dubbo to Canberra. There’s a non-zero chance that we have another move to somewhere else in NSW before we finally settle.
I envy you.
I went from Sydney to WA.
So now it is only moving within WA.
I like how you kind of lump in Canberra as being part of NSW.
I thought you were happy but you can always go back to Brisbane if you’d like.
I said it was expensive.
OOOOooOOOOoooOOOoOoOooOO!!!
http://img.att.net/editorial/images/77/7626377/main-1096184.jpg
That was in the table, we’re both Sydney born, but both love Melbourne, so we’re considering a move down there, but figured seeing as we hadn’t lived together yet, we’d try that here before relocating and potentially hating each others guts elsewhere.
Being a grown up generally means spending lots on boring things.
We just spent $950 on a new oven. \o/
(although it’s terribly nice actually being able to have a brand new oven and not relying on a landlord to supply a second hand piece of crap)
Becoming an adult is fast approaching me as well. It screams at me “Hurry up and become an adult!”
And I scream back “Shut the hell up dad!”
PILLARS TALK
So now everyone is playing Pillars, who else is super excited for Tides of Numenera?
Being a huge Planescape Torment fan, I’m pretty pumped for this
I was saying last night, I’ve tried twice to play the original torment in recent years but…
I just can’t. It’s too clunky for me. maybe after pillars I’ll revisit it
Yeah I tried to go back to the original torment when I heard tides had been funded and I just couldn’t handle the low resolution and clunky interfaces either; got about 3 hours into it (So like basically the first 2 floors) and had to call it D=
I didn’t get much further
Yeah haven’t played it in years so I could imagine that it hasn’t aged well… I just loved the universe it’s set in though, found myself in love with that
Never played Numenera. I did back the kickstarter for it though.
I’d be surprised if any people outside of the group I’m GMing here have, it’s still pretty new on the scene
AAAAAANNNNDDD BLOODBORNE GET!
Looks like my theory was right, they must’ve marked everything as delivered at the start of the day.
And now I have to go to work. AAAAARRRRRGGGHHH!!!!!!
Tis the way the cookie crumbles =P
Wise and insightful sayings aside; 4 day weekend coming up!!
Not for me. I get Friday and Monday off though.
High five!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS \o/
Good morning, good morning! Last day of March already, wut. Whenever I say shit like that, or talk genuinely about the weather (which I did for a solid five minutes with friends in a bar last week), I feel fine in the moment, and then about 70 years old two minutes later. Ugh.
Anywho, yesterday was a very fortuitous day and I have good feelings about the rest of the day, week, year, etc. Huzzah.
Easy there grandma.
=PI have had a discussion about just how good Dyson vacuum cleaners are, and I spent a lot of time at the last Canberra Meat asking people to use coasters so as not to damage the table. So I think I’m actually a 73 year old woman. :/
Hey they are awesome. Wish I had one.
Also you always use a coaster regardless of what type of table you put your drinks on.
OH MY GOD, DYSON. Oof, yes. I have a DC59 Animal and it’s the besssst.
And hey, if it’s your table and you want to keep that varnish clear, your guests have to respect that. I like the battered, stained look myself, but I am a lazy, lazy (old) woman.
Well, It’s my Mum’s table, and underneath the coasters and the mats it’s a lovely new (well, like 2 years old now) table that you can’t see because of all the protectors on it.
aaaaawwwww so jealous. That was the one I wanted but was just a bit too expensive for us
Wait, are you… not a 73 year old woman?
I mean… you have that long hair, and the hunch and the old person smell.
Like, I only cleaned your house because I thought you’d break a hip or something.
Should you be cleaning a house though Bish? Being older then time itself would make you more likely to break a hip wouldn’t it?
I think in the past few millennia, my bones have actually dissolved into a jelly-like substance, and what gives me my structure is all the dried up arteries, veins and capillaries since my tiny, black heart stopped beating quite some time ago.
Bun is currently whinging about how sore his back is. You’re not that old.
I’ve been complaining about my back pain for year now!
I’ve had a sore heel for about 2 months. I’m getting old lady feet >:|
I have the dc59 and I LOVE IT
So, the ASADA thing is nearly done.
Good, I’m sick of hearing about it.
Good news! There are also three non-Essendon players currently under investigation.
(cc @crazyguy1990) NOT GUILTY.
Now let’s all move on.
you know that feeling when your work dumps some pretty hi-tech hardware on your desk and says i need this running for an inspection in the morning, and that hardware is password protected and firewalled like fort knox, and to top it all off, no one has any documentation or passwords????
im having one of those days… so close to telling him to stick it up his arse…..
Will it fit?
If it doesn’t get a bigger hammer.
And a metric shit-ton of WD-40
Nah that would make it to easy. Unless you mix in chilli powder to it then yes.
I thought that was mandatory!
we’ll make it fit! \o/
That’s the spirit!
Prepare the lube! :3
The Chilli infused lube!
I believe that’s called a “Ring Stinger”.
There’s always one who has to take it one step too far…
I like it.Hi everyone,
The second season of Undad took people by surprise. It took ME by surprise. I certainly wasn’t planning it when I put together the original Undad campaign, that’s for sure.
I’m thinking of ways to tie the campaigns together, and particularly, to offer supporters of the first campaign ways to benefit from this news (discounts, additional content, etc).
One option I’m considering is expanding the limited edition journal to cover the events in the second volume as well.
This, however, would have the unfortunate effect of delaying its delivery by several months, which might well be a dealbreaker for some. (No other items or tiers would be affected by delay)
I want to know what you think about this option. It would increase the amount of content offered to you, but comes with a significant delay. Failing that, I can just fill the existing rewards as promised, without new content, pretty much on time.
If you’ve already ordered (or won) one of the journals, I’ll be messaging you shortly to ascertain your opinion on the matter, but even if you haven’t, I’d like to get your opinion here, please (on this or other issues). If you have any other ideas or ways in which you feel I could improve your rewards, please let me know here in the comments or by email: shane@shanewsmith.com
Note: either way, season 2 of Undad won’t have a separate limited edition journal. If the events are to be written in prose, it will be as part of the first journal or not at all.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Thanks!
Shane
I’ve waited years for Kickstarters that I’m interested in. A delay on the journal isn’t a dealbreaker for me. I mean, hell, I’m getting more bang for my buck. You do what works for you. I’m happy either way, and will still throw my wallet at the screen for whatever good that does.
You are a true geeee-arntillman, man. Thanks for the reply.
Personally I wouldn’t mind but I imagine there might be a few grumps that could get annoyed at the delay. Would there be an issue if people supported season 2 and not season 1 who might miss out on the journal? Would there potentially be a problem if you’d have to increase the print run of the journal to meet new interest?
I like the idea, however it sounds like it could be an issue in terms of reorganising established printing orders and stuff like that.
The journal was going to be a limited run of 50 (or was it 100? I’ll need to check). Something like 20-25 have been claimed. It would actually be just about perfect to be able to offer the same book again as part of the new campaign 😛
I’ll be contacting all the affected people by email tonight, to get their thoughts. Figure those who don’t reply to that probably aren’t fussed enough to be annoyed 😛
Have already got a couple of responses – no one seems annoyed by the prospect of delay, because it means more content.
I have no idea if the $35 tier I backed would include this journal but if so, I would not be opposed to the delay.
That said, it feels like you’re acting on some obligation that your early adopters, backers of season 1, should receive additional benefits just because season 2 is going to exist – something you didn’t foresee when you planned your Kickstarter project.
It was in the $150 tier, so probably not, man. But thanks for the input – it’s good to know that delays aren’t as big a deal as I’d assumed, if there’s a good enough reason.
I do believe that my early adopters should be rewarded! And yeah, I think I probably feel a little guilty about taking the bus straight to Sequeltown, even before the first book was finished.
I (and therefore, presumably, everyone else) expected the Undad book to be the complete story. Now it feels a bit like I’ve gone back on that implicit promise, and am shipping a product with important sequences missing from it. Day one DLC, if you will. Or Assassin’s Creed II Syndrome.
Fair point and obviously you going the extra mile to make it clear you aren’t that kind of storyteller will look great for your brand, I’d just hate you to feel like there’s all this extra pressure on you to provide beyond what was promised just because circumstances changed. I feel like a lot of successful Kickstarter projects wind up that way – for the most part when they go waaay over their goal, like Double Fine raising a huge amount for a modest project and they went so overboard trying to fulfil expectations that the project ran out of money, sending them scrambling for more funds to release the second half of the game.
That’s why the journal is a good option for ‘additional content.’ It’ll be a bit more work for me, but printing costs won’t be blown out, and there’s no additional ‘development costs’ to consider if I’m the only one on salary for it 😛
Also, in the interest of full disclosure,
I’m a little behind schedule for the completion of the journal and a sanctioned and justifiable extension of six or seven months to do it right would be a godsend. It certainly cost people enough to buy that I really don’t want it to be a half-assed thing.I think polling your backers to ask for an extension to deliver the full product is warranted then.
Good advice. I will include this as a factor in my communiques.
Can’t remember if it was a thing for me either, but I’m not bothered by a delay either.
I think it is a thing for you, so that’s good to know, man. Thanks!
TALK AMONGST YOURSELVES ON KOTAKU AUSTRALIA
I mean… you have that long hair, and the hunch and the old person smell.
#OldManSerrels = #OldWomanJane?
@rize @tech_knight @sernobulus @gingerchris86
As Freeze is still busy Japanning, are any of you available for 40K RPG Rogue Trader tonight? I know things have kinda been dead on the RPG front for the last few weeks but I can run you guys through stuff if we have the numbers.
Sidenote: Apparently Japanning is an actual word. Imagine my surprise when spellcheck didn’t throw up any issues.
I am available tonight to play, sure
I’m available! 🙂
@tech_knight as well, still waiting on a response from Rize. I can run a game with just the two of you if you want but I personally prefer running games with a minimum of three. I know that’s unfair to you guys so I apologise for that.
Nah it’s fine I can understand that. Hasn’t been a good run so far, bloody reality getting in the way.
Yeah it hasn’t been the best. I’ve gone and accelerated the plot so the action will be forthcoming very soon.
I’m the last guy that wants combat without a mounted gun to utilise since I haven’t gone combat focussed at all. All I got mainly for good damage are my grenades 😛
Not spoiling too much but things will be escalating fairly soon. Sometimes action, sometimes intrigue, sometimes diplomacy. Stuff will be happening soon. 😛
Working late again.
Sounds like you’re not having much luck with shifts lately. I appreciate that you’re still keen to play Nob so hopefully there’ll be an opportunity soon.
I’d be keen to play next week, I have sold my soul to VIllage to see That Sugar Film tonight if you need numbers?
I also don’t know what I would need to play lol
Sorry High, we only play once every two weeks and it’s just that real life keeps getting in the way of RPGing. If we weren’t already so far into the game I would bring you in but I’ll keep your name in mind whenever we next decide to play a new RPG.
Thanks!
You guys. I’m really proud of the project I’m working on at the moment. Probably shouldn’t talk about it online but I’m really liking it. It’s all just really nice and slick and works smoothly. So proud!
In less proud news, I rage-quit Dark Souls last night due to the…
Capra Demon 😛 It doesn’t help that I need to use 2 or 3 Estus’ before I can even make it to the boss door. Trjn told me a shortcut to the door though so hopefully it should make it easier.I never rage quit anything. It’s a big deal for a game to break me like that 😛
I can’t remember where I got to in Dark Souls. I beat the tutorial boss, then the minotaur on the ramparts, then… I guess I got to the dragon bridge after meeting the praise the sun dude. I went under the bridge and had three directions to go in, all of which ended in pain. It wasn’t even a boss that beat me. Just some huge knight with a huge sword and shield. He was at the top of a tower so I don’t think he was even guarding anything.
I know the exact knight you are talking about. I walked up casually, accidentally aggro’d him, poo’d my pants while running wildly down the stairs, got stuck on a wall at the bottom and stabbed in the behind.
I think I went up there once, he cramed me, so I went another two ways which caused me other problems, so I went back and thought “I can take this knight if I play it smart” but then he flattened me again and I sighed and turned off the Xbox.
The one up the spiral staircase on his own little tower?
That’s our man.
The Black Knights are jerks. The first one you meet is a pain to try and flank unless you bring him out of the corridor (so he’s good parrying practice if you’re good, but HAHAHAHA, fuck parrying anything that isn’t a hollow soldier or whatsisface the slow), and the tower one is a pain because there’s no room to breathe, and the stairs can work against you as often as they work for you.
It’s funny how laughably easy they are by the end of the game, though.
Hey, I think one of them hit me in the three times I killed them all on the way to Gwyn’s room!
What dark secrets are you hiding
Hopefully if I say nothing it’ll make me look cool and mysterious.
…
Did it work?
Here I was thinking you where cool and mysterious.
Till you said did it work.
*sigh* the illusion had been shattered.
Shattered I say.
For a OHS TAFE class, I have to complete the same safety report of the TAFE that a proper OHS officer would work with. So far, it’s a damning report. There is a glaring lack of signage in regards to everything. Rooms that require gloves and safety glasses aren’t signed as such, dangerous chemicals are stored in containers with only the name of the substance in texta on the lid. (No warning label)
The most disconcerting is that a heavy object is propped up to prevent it from falling by, get this – a toilet brush.
I don’t know how it’s passed specification from OHS officers before. The fact that a bunch of students are the ones picking up on this is disgraceful.
Every year, they get the class to assess a different room. Much cheaper than getting real inspectors in!
It would be funnier if it probably wasn’t true.
And that’s TAFE… wait till your in a company.
Carpet peeling off floor, trip hazard right? Get told “Just lift your feet higher when walking”
Roof leaks and ceiling tiles that fall down saturated with water after heavy rain – get told “lodge a request to get ceiling tiles replaced, don’t worry about the roof.”
Ooh, the Mario 3D World and Kirby Triple Deluxe soundtracks have gone back up on Club Nintendo.
Gonna grab that Mario one, I missed it the first time round and was full of regret once I actually got around to playing the game. So good.
I’m kinda in the same boat. I’ll literally never listen to it and just throw it on the pile of unlistened-to random game soundtracks, but the music in that game was pretty rad!
I was listening to ABC702 this morning, and apparently it’s just dawned on lawyers that mandatory metadata storage might cause problems for laywer-client confidentiality. Where were you when this legislation was being debated? *facepalm*
And knowing the government, the moment the lawyers start kicking up a fuss about the confidentiality issue, they’ll just change the metadata laws to override lawyer-client confidentiality and legal professional privilege. They couldn’t stand to look like fools again.
Yeah, but we said that the last time they looked like fools. And the time before that, too 😛
I wonder if we’ll ever get tired enough of having a government that does nothing of value that we actually do something……. Then again not likely =P
All we have to do is treat government like a non-profit organisation and drop the wages by 70% or so. Then the only people who want the top job will want it because they’re politically passionate. That’s the way to get things started.
It’ll never happen, though.
Yeah somewhere along the line public service became synonymous with making a profit.
They are the height of tomfoolery at this point. It’s quite sad how politics has degenerated to such a level but when public interest levels in politics has descended to the abyss, it was pretty much bound to happen.
I could have sworn that there were a few mutters from some law firms and doctors’ groups about this when it first came up but the story didn’t get any traction.
I’m sure it was mentioned, and then was promptly drowned out by the complaints from journalists.
Legit question:
Why do dogs like putting their heads out of car windows?
Does the cool breeze feel good to them, or are they just trying to sniff the air?
Bit of both… I imagine due to the sensitive noses that is sensory overload and they love it… Plus one of my dogs just love the wind and making her entire face flap… It’s pretty damned hilarious
It’s my favourite thing watchign dogs do that, they seem to love it. I had a dog growing up who knew how to put the electric windows down and stick his head out lol.
I finished Pillars of Eternity. Amazing game. Best RPG I’ve played in years!
Took about 50 hours, which felt like a good length. I’ve got some loose ends I planned to finish after the game, but you can’t play post-campaign just so you know, so finish what you want to finish before the end game!
Lol wow I’m like 17 hours into the game and I haven’t even left Defiance Bay yet…. >.< Quick question; are the best weapons you found in game pre-made or do enchanted weapons beat anything you can find?
Edit: That said I’m one of those people who has to completely devour the quest log and make sure every single corner of a map is explored before I can move on to the next region =P So I do put myself through quite a number of fights and adventures even though they don’t give any experience.
I explore everywhere and talk to everyone as well, only had about six things left in my quest log when I finished the game and most of them were near complete. Haha! As for the weapons… uh… some great pre-made ones, but I tend to enchant everything anyways. XD
You crazy man! YOU CRAZY! CRAY-ZEEE!
Do wizards become more useful later on in the game? And did you find the most effective means of tanking to be with a large or medium shield (i.e is it possible to get rid of the accuracy debuff from large shields)? What in your opinion was the most indispensable class throughout the game? With regards to a priest class; what did you find was the most suitable weapon combination for them? Atm I’m running Priest D with heavy armor and a mace/shield build but I’m not entirely certain if its the most effective build based on how his skill tree will open up as he levels.
Sorry DC lots of questions and I don’t want to risk finding them out online and stumbling across spoilers =P
Too many questions! *throws smoke grenade, flees* 😛
NOOOOO dammit DC tell me!! *casts wind jutsu and chases after DC*
To be honest, I don’t really focus too closely on equipment combinations or even class types. I’m not that hardcore when it comes to RPGs. I’m in it for the questing, story and sights and sounds. I did tend to use priest and druid one-two punch in party. Overpowered and helpful when my character was a weakling ranger. (Though I had a cool antelope side kick! :D) Wizards also have some kick ass skills to pay the bills!
Finished?! Already?! Even accounting for your absolute immersion in it since release, it’s still a bit shorter than I’d expected. Not that I’m saying that’s a bad thing, it’s just different to what I expected. Maybe because I never actually got to the end of any of those kind of games except Planescape: Torment I feel like they’re all neverending or something. 😀
There was optional stuff like bounty hunting I kind of ignored. Was too hooked on the story. Wanted to see where it was going to go. I expected it to be a bit longer too, but I’m definitely satisfied with it. No filler and an interesting world to explore. 😀
Steam says only .3% of people have finished the game. I’ve told you guys I’m known for my quickness. 😛
Have you done Od Nua?
You know it! Except for the very last part of that quest. *shakes fist* Got the achievement for finishing it, though, so that’ll tell you how close!
50 Hours? Hory shet! I might pick it up in a while on your appraisal DC, I am real heavy into Dragonball Xenoverse though :S
THIS 50 HOURS IS A CRY FOR HELP! SOMEONE NEEDS TO GET ME A JOB! POSSIBLY ME! I HAVE TO GET ME A JOB! 😛
Well, what are you doing to get a job?
Actively sabotaging myself to show my saboteur skills! 😛
Said it before, but I’m more than happy to proof CVs or letters or whatever. And stop worrying about the gap in your resume.
You’re hired!
The only payment is the satisfaction you get for saboteuring your way into a bank vault. The task is the reward in itself, the reward for the group I represent is of course money, but I’m sure someone of your dedication has moved past such base needs.
They’re trying to find someone for my job. YOU SHOULD DO IT!
Stupid Nintendo. They say to check their site to know when game PINs are going to expire or whatever. But they can’t even keep the list maintained right, it goes Samurai Warriors 3 -> Wii Fit Plus -> Art Academy, but it turns out WFP has expired. Because it’s an October 09 game, not mid-2010 like the other two. So my codes for it didn’t work. Jerks.
Either way, got my Mario soundtrack now.
Nice! I just got some shoelaces, but now I’m left with 325 stars 🙁 Anyone got anything I can reg for a couple of hundred more points so I can get some post-it notes? 🙂 They’re 560!
I’ve already got that Mario soundtrack, I’ll have to log in to my account to see if I’ve got enough stars for the Kirby one.
Also, I remember receiving an email from them not long ago saying that they were going to send out the Smash Bros. soundtracks in April.
Edit: Damn, I’m 300 short.
Welp, I just watched the second Persona 3 movie (I’ve only played an hour of the game, so I didn’t even get up to the “playing the game” part):
Oh my god, they killed Shinji! But seriously, I was expecting the power of friendship to pull him through, or something. Geezus. I know I should expect it to be darker than P4, what with the whole “shooting themselves in the head” thing, and all that stuff, but man, I would hate to have been using him in my core team.
Welp, had an afternoon beer (Little Creatures, had one down at their factory in Geelong), then a glass of wine with dinner…
…I then proceeded to fall asleep for 90 minutes, along with Max.
She’s a snuggler, this one. 🙂
How about that, got a surprise message from an old friend. Long overdue for a catch up, I think it’s been maybe two years or so since we last saw each other.
*couple of messages later*
“Can you still play and tune pianos?”
Theeeere we go 😛
Well can you?! Tune mine please.
thx
I’ve tuned her piano before, presumably I would be able to do it again.
Yours is too far away though, I’ll pass on that one.
TMI
Oh, sorry – Yes. No.
Succinct.
gonna tickle her ivories?
gonna push her keys huh?
gonna hammer her strings, y’hear?
gonna press her sustain pedal, huh?
gonna harmonise her chords, huh?
The piano is the her in this scenario.
I’m so single. My immediate thought was “the hammer is my penis” and then it turns out it actually fits too.
…
Uh. Yeah.
I’m singler 😛wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more say no more
Ok I just got told I’m welcome to tickle the ivories at her place any day. Glad it took place over phone message, so that I didn’t openly burst out laughing right in her face.Well your friend is too needy.
Wait another 2 years and then reply.
Or conversely, I’m too limited in skill to keep myself at the front of my friends’ minds and should further diversify to increase my chances 😛
It is kind of depressing that I had to look up what conversely means.
From what little I know and that is never a lot. You have a lot of skills.
Every so often I think what would MrTaco do.
Then I relise I have no idea what you would do so I shug and eat a sandwich.
Hmm maybe I should learn some sort of skill or such.
Who’s the boss now, Capra Demon? Huh!?
Yeah, that’s what I thought.
So clearly the Capra Demon.
Is still the boss.
😛Kudos to you man, he’s what made me quit Dark Souls.
That Powalen, so mysterious and cool…
and looks good in hats.
Not just in hats… *wink*.
Too bad he’s not funny ;P
Did you go much further? Delve down into The Depths of despair?
I ran happily towards a Butcher because I thought he was a Blacksmith. I was hoping to buy a new weapon…
Have to make sure I charge my 3DS tomorrow for Xenoblade. Haven’t turned it on in months.
And from tomorrow it won’t be turned off for months.
I kind of want to get it, but at the same time, I could play it looking like this: http://i.imgur.com/ASNn82k.jpg
Why are you still here?
Because while I hate myself, I don’t quite hate myself enough to- Oh, you mean not playing the game right now?
Because I have a hundred other games to play, and I suck at commitment.
OMGWTFBBQ!!!
http://www.playstationtrophies.org/news/news-15860-Someone-Has-Beaten-Bloodborne-in-Under-45-Minutes.html
45 minutes? Man, games are just getting shorter and shorter these days.
Woah.
TIL you don’t kill John Wick’s dog
People have been asking if he’s back.
(cc @effluvium-boy)
Was such a good movie, completely flew under my radar until tonight
Everyone in the upvotes thing is invisible now. Also the othersite stuff at the bottom of the page fell off.
I was talking with friends when the topic of skating movies came up. Which made me think of a movie about a kid with a talking skateboard that we hired out from the video shop when we were little, and I’d forgotten all about til just then. Thank the googles, I found out that it was called The Skateboard Kid. And that there was a sequel (??!). And there exists a trailer for it. And it is even more terribad than I could have imagined.
Also for some reason it made me think of @effluvium-boy. You ever catch this one?
I’m ashamed to admit it, but I have not seen this masterpiece of cinema.
HOLLYHELL, my Dark Souls PS4 game has shipped from OzGameShop already. I’m totally not ready to have two incomplete FROM games in my life.
Well if bloodborne can be finished in 45 min you should be fine by the time you recive dark souls for the PS4.
PHEW. That’s lucky.
@dire_wolf, I have completed your interview questions. Hopefully they are all right. Let me know if you didn’t receive the email – my client crashed as it was sending. It says ‘sent’ but I am unsure.
Got it fine. Looks great. Thanks for taking the time. This is a huge, huge help to me.
No problem.
Nighty night.
Nighty night to you, Crazy :*
On April Fools Day, I’m not sure if should trust Kotaku or not.
Everything printed today is a lie.
Life is a lie (looks off dramatically into distance).
THAT’S A LIE!
Yes.
Will these lies ever end?
Yes.
Well it’s not April 1st in the US until about 1pm our time so… I guess we’re ok this morning? Unless it’s something Mark wrote, about a holographic porridge simulator or something.
That’s what I figured too. We’re probably safe until evening-ish, unless they’ve teed articles up for midnight in the US.
Great. Now I want a Holographic Porridge Simulator. With Honey DLC.
Great news! It can be done, and completely organically. For the most realistic results, all the components needed can be found at your local Coles or Woolworths, and the instructions are so straightforward even a Scotsman can follow them.
It will run on any system and the end result is at least 98% indistinguishable from reality, though the quality of the simulation can vary depending on the volume of honey per cubic inch of oats.

The new Sufjan Stevens album is fantastic. Get your ears to it
Therefore
@Spaghett’s LAST SONG PLAYED GAME!
Should have known better – Sufjan Stevens
He’s playing at the Sydney Opera House for Vivid this year! I just can’t justify going having not really listened to anything since Illinois.
Wrecking Ball – August Burns Red
Flowers – Walls
Sufjan Stevens – Should Have Known Better
Wait… No. Robert Cray – Right Next Door (Because of Me)
And since I’m on the subject, the Robert Cray / Albert Collins / Johnny Copeland song “The Dream” is one of my favourite blues tracks of all time. It’s like a knife stabbing me and being twisted so beautifully I can’t help by smile through the pain. In the words of Ben Sidran, “I love the blues, they hurt so nice.” / “Popular suffering raised to a high art.”
Iron Maiden – Die with your boots on
Something wicked Pt 2 – Iced Earth
Garbage – Only Happy when it Rains
I was in a shit mood op the way into work this morning and this one always perks me up.
And also it’s been raining. \o/
Well because Red reminded me, I will soon be listening to new SUFJAN! but last song played was Battlefield by Panzer Ag
Hi TAY, you’re looking mighty fine today!
Aprils Fools huhuhuhuhuhu
Nah you’re pretty great.
Now I don’t know what to believe *sobs*
EDIT: reply fail
Holy crap!
A great big piecost just flew past my window!
*sigh*
OK
You sure you want this?
Really sure? This is your April fool thing?
OK then.
Crazyguy, what’s a piecost?
About $3.50 if it’s plain.
Wait, so some coins flew past your window, and they were big, like novelty sized coins?
Artist’s rendition.
HAHA well played
Lucky! Those are way rarer than the matterbaby you get around here.
Updog, henway, Grecian urn.
There, are we done?
I really wish Bloodborne had a pause button, it really restricts when and how long I can play it because it’s not often I’ll be able to play completely uninterrupted, made so many unnecessary trips to the hunter’s dream just so I could go do something quickly. Other than that it’s a pretty cool guy, not having played previous souls games I wasn’t sure what to expect, reminds me of older games because it’s a nice challenge. I made my dude look like Bruce Campbell and gave him the blunderbuss (boomstick) and saw cleaver (closest to chainsaw). I like how the game forces you to get good, I feel like I’m 100 times better than when I started, still making lot’s of foolish mistakes but it’s all a learning experience. Not very far yet, only killed the first boss and still exploring the nooks and crannies of Yharnam (so many nooks and crannies). Lastly I’m digging the creature design, got a little creeped out by them long armed crawling zombie things.
As someone who played Demon’s and Dark Souls while the kidlet napped…quitting is your friend. Seriously, it’s just like pausing. Just quit the game and you’ll be right back where you left off when you start it up again.
So it’ll auto save my location / enemies killed etc? Wasn’t sure so I’ve always run to a safe spot before exiting.
Yup. If it’s anything like the Souls games, it’ll save every 10 seconds or so, if I recall correctly.
cool, guess I’ll just quit when interrupted, thanks for that.
Yep, this is the case. cc @gutsoup
My gf April Fooled me this morning by pretending she spilt a cup of water over my Xbox and it wouldn’t turn on. I didn’t really have the energy to get outwardly mad, so I just sorta took it in my stride and was trying to see what could be done to fix it, etc. She eventually gave in and complained that I didn’t get angry. Perfect opportunity to quote Bruce Banner which I missed.
Soooo has anyone played Axiom Verge yet? I like it, it’s pretty cool and metroidy!
April fools proves that most people aren’t actually funny.

Go on, it was his birthday yesterday
Yes… three nightfalls down last night, topped off with beating my third boss in Bloodborne – Hemwick. I’m starting to see a pattern here… first boss went down first try, second boss second try… this one took me three tries. I wonder how many bosses there are… 😛
I got super lucky on that last run – I managed to get both of them down to low health independently through blind luck (stumbling across them both approximately equally), so it only took one swing of my cane to finish off the second one after she got angry. She didn’t even get time to try to stun me. Now I guess I should go see what’s in the chapel…I was going to join you but I went to the pub and then had dinner with my missus and a couple of work friends… …and then got home and played Elite. :-p
4000ly from Sol… 🙂
Phogoth? That’s two weeks in a row, no?
It’s Nexus this week. Void burn, Angry, Juggler. Minotaurs and Goblins with torch hammers are the main threat, aside from the Nexus itself (that splash damage is insane)… that said, voidwalker is amazing fun in there – I can wipe out that entire cliff-face of Goblins (just before the main boss drop-down) in one super. 😀
I’ve still got a nightfall left over from an extra bounty, if you’re up for it sometime. I’m going to visit the folks for the long weekend, tho, so won’t be online from Friday.
And 4000Ly? Wow. Aiming for anywhere in particular? Or just picked a direction and went with it?
Oh, ok. Destiny Status must have been cached.
Fun! 🙂 I have void weapons… I may play a bit this weekend if any of the other regulars are about.
Yep. I have it in my head to visit Hershel’s Garnet Star (Mu Cephei). This is proving challenging – I had one aborted attempt a couple of weeks ago in the Type 6, and I’m now going again with the Asp rigged for long jumps. Headed towards the Elephant Trunk Nebula, which is now some way behind me, but I’ve been having some issues crossing the void between our spur and the main arm. Maybe I should have gone rimward first towards the Crab then down the arm, but it is what is it, and backtracking is not an option… I think I’ve found a path that’ll get me across now into a denser region, and then the only thing that’ll stop me is if Mu Cephei doesn’t have a <32.4ly path… in which case I’ll head home around the rim and try to make it back to Tsu to dump exploration data before that community goal expires…
I don’t know if I can be bothered logging onto Destiny this week, though I might knock out the weeklies just for strange coins on the off change Xur sells Gjallarhorn or something.
I think I’m about ready to take a break ahead of House of Wolves. I really should knock out some other games, especially the ones on 360 before we wind up retiring it.
Yeah, I’m mostly on a break.
Yea, I’m almost at the point I’m feeling the same. Still doing the nightfalls and weeklies for the chance at an exotic from the NF and Xur (although this week’s loot been about 20 energy and I won’t be around for Xur…). I’ve got 3 32s and very little gear left to sink XP into, so bounties are mostly pointless at the moment. I’m still hanging out for a couple of gear pieces and two raid weapons for my collection, but apart from that, I hop on most nights because I just enjoy helping people out where I can.
Hey people who use Kickstarter, either as a backer or for funding, I just wanted to ask a general question. What do you prefer to see for projects: low initial target but many stretch goals or a high initial target and fewer stretch goals? I mainly ask because it seems that the low target approach appears to be more successful as of late as I guess people can see a project will be funded more easily. That’s only my conjecture though so it’s probably wrong.
I want to see a reasonable target, really.
Yeah I suppose that’s the issue with low funding goals for me. Most of the time it seems such a small amount of money to achieve what they want to do but I guess they supplement that with outside funding. It would be nice if some of them said as such because low funding goals make me think either the projects aren’t very ambitious or they don’t know how much they actually need.
Reasonable, but high initial target. Those low ones are easy to get funded which then means a small team overcommits and you’re more likely to end up with nothing.
Define “more successful” in the context of your comment.
More successful in the sense that their overall backing (in dollar amounts) is quite high in comparison to other, similar Kickstarter projects. It could be just the type of stuff that I look at (mostly books and games) but it seems to be a general trend that low initial funding goal projects tend to end up with more money than project with a higher funding goal.
Reasonable target for a project that is complete in theory but needs money for production (such as a physical board game, card game or book). I tend to prefer projects where I’m more or less preordering a product which will ship within a year. Stretch goals are less important to me, I don’t need a hundred things tacked on – generally I prefer that more money just equates to better quality (such as being able to negotiate better deals with printers, etc.)
I’m also more likely to back projects that have already met their goal so there is more certainty about completion.
Minimum required to get a complete and finished project out, whatever it is. Lower (or perhaps I should say reasonable) funding goals are more incentive for me to pledge, simply because I can envisage them hitting their goal, and being a part of it.
Stretch goals don’t really interest me most of the time.
The targets don’t really worry me, but sometimes I will not back something with a really large target if I don’t think they will make it.
Conversely if somethign has a low target and has already made it I sometimes choose not to back unless I really want it where if they were struggling but close to the target I might
Low initial target with heaps of stretch goals feels safe, especially if the first target I feel I would be interested in attaining a reward for that tier.

The party has found a SPACESHIP!
TONIGHT 7:30 SA TIME
I’ll be there.
Edit: Also, finally don’t have to deal with daylight savings any more after this weekend. Yes!
No daylight savings? Depending on how everyone feels about starting 30mins later (8:30pm AEST) I could probably make it to our RPG sessions.
Oh hey, firefox updated itself again. And has now crashed four times in the last half hour or so. Great.
Ahh, that would be why I couldn’t remotely log on to the work servers this morning. Well played, Mongzilla.
“April Fools! We were just pretending to be terrible!”
So, when is Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin arriving on Steam?
Is it still set for 3am on Friday, or will we get it on Tuesday?

Failed the FCC testing. Ouch.
Hey gang,
JB is having a clearout of games for PS3/360.
Lightning Returns is only $20.
https://www.jbhifi.com.au/games-consoles/platforms/xbox-360/lightning-returns-final-fantasy-xiii/404901/
Rest of the sale: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/games-consoles/banners/games-clearance/?p=1&s=displayPrice&sd=1
Guess it was silly of me to hope Last of Us was on there 😛
A little bit, yes.
If you have a PS4, I’m happy to loan my copy.
I do not!
You’ll have to lend me your PS4 as well.
Do you want my PS3 copy? I’ve got it on PS4.
I might borrow it one day! Maybe once I finish Dark Souls. You don’t have to give it to me 😛
What if I refuse to take it back?
Then I’ll have to come up with increasingly complex ways of sneaking it back into your possession without you noticing!
I know where you live…I’ll just keep mailing it back…
We can keep mailing it back and forth until we are both old and poor and Australia Post sends us a cease and desist. It’ll be fun!
@powalen cease and desist? They’d probably be grateful for the business
Oh hey look at all those games I bought ages ago but haven’t played yet which are now half the price or less…

that uranium would give you a healthy glow
Board game aficionados, did I recently see somebody talking about this game? It just crossed my inbox and looks very interesting. Co-op heists as a physical game, what more do you need?
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fowers/burgle-bros-a-cooperative-heist-boardgame
I think @redartifice said he had backed it. Might be wrong though.
Yeah, his name was scratching at the back of my head but a quick search didn’t turn up anything. Maybe he tweeted about it.
That actually looks pretty cool.
Yeah, was me, backed it.
It’s pretty much “everything Stuart likes: the board game”
Yep, just backed it myself.
Ooh, they hit the custom meeple goal too!
And here I thought ESL was English as a Second Language. I’ve learned something new!
Damn; slow TAY day much??
Edit:…… of course
I was just thinking how strange it was being Wednesday and we haven’t even hit page six yet.
I’m champing at the bit.
True story: Earlier today I was thinking about doing a “Pet peeves” discussion stimulator post and I was going to say how with “Champing at the bit” really annoys me when people type/say “Chomping”
I was going to google that because I was sure I was right but wasn’t 100% sure, then I thought I’d just wear it.
Turns out chomping is correct, but champing is the better kind of correct
http://grammarist.com/usage/champing-chomping-at-the-bit/
Exactly.
It’s because we’re missing some of our TAY heavy hitters; i.e. Freeze and transient =P
I call them Frensient in this context.
I call them Treeze. Does get a bit confusing when I’m taking about nature though.
Probably accurate since Treeze are a major source of wood. Trees. No. Wait. Right the first time.
#bamboosextoys
Assignment due tomorrow but I can’t submit it because the teacher screwed up formatting the online submission process. I’ve emailed her about it, but I don’t know when she’ll check the email. Hopefully it get fixed soon because I’d hate to lose marks on a later submission that isn’t my fault.
Email the teacher the assignment so at least they have a copy, then as long it’s the exact same thing you submit when you can, you can argue that you gave it to them on time
Another month down on my attempt to watch 100 movies in 2015 I’ve never seen before. I did crack 50 movies in total though.
March was a slow month. I was away and just generally had a lot of things going on. Most of the movies I did watch were Marvel movies. Also saw Kingsman again when we were in Brisbane because it’s awesome. Oh and I made @rize watch Guardians of the Galaxy because he’d never seen it before. He also doesn’t understand how @markserrels didn’t like it.
Movie count:
Jan – 15
Feb – 8
Mar – 3
Total – 26
I’ve gone through most of the “must see” movies from last year (still a handful more to go) so this month was mostly about watching stuff I’ve just never got around to watching before.
My favourite was Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. I don’t know why it took me so long to watch this, just a lot of fun.
Mar:
Best Movie: Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Worst Movie: Compliance (and even that was still a solid 3/5)
Year:
Best Movie: Whiplash (STILL!)
Worst Movie: Taken 3 (It’s going to take a lot to dethrone this one. But then I do have Ouija sitting here…)
Full list: http://letterboxd.com/asharples/films/diary/year/2015/
Netflix has been good for my movie watching. Today I watched Easy A and Lilo & Stitch for the first time, then I rewatched Mean Girls. It was pretty fetch.
Easy A was a lot better than it really should have been. I mean they really hammered in the teen movie tropes but it just worked.
Emma Stone I think is one of those actresses who can elevate any movie. Just happened to have some good material here to work with as well.
Eventually she’s going to be the lead in something amazing. Hell, her bit in Birdman was pretty rad.
Yeah, absolutely loved her in Birdman. Loved how they shot her completely unglamorously too. She was all broken and ragged and exhausted looking. She did a great job.
That was a great flick.
Going through that list, you watched the wrong Old Boy.
Eh, I’ve seen the original and it was on Netflix. It actually wasn’t that bad. Sure, it wasn’t as good as the Korean version, but it was a well made movie.
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is sooo good. Like, the snappy back and forth banter in that is some of my favourite. Whiplash is really good, too, but I watched it a second time recently and it didn’t get the same grip on me.
Do you, by chance, happen to listen to the Flophouse Podcast?
I don’t, but I’ve been looking for new ones to listen to so I might have to check it out.
Whiplash is weird for me. I actually haven’t been able to pinpoint why I do like it so much. Maybe it has something to do with the fact I actually play the drums? /shrug
That could be it! I still enjoyed it a lot – JK Simmons is a goddamn powerhouse.
And The Flophouse Podcast is one of the funniest casts I’ve ever listened to. It regularly has me in tears on public transport. Lots of non-sequitur and jokes and just awesome. Episodes I’d recommend: #138 Foodfight!, #133 Bullet to the Head, #73 Devil, #171 No Good Deed.
I keep confusing whiplash with whip it on this list. Probably because I have not seen whiplash so there is no reference point to attach that to
Had my first experience with Bloodborne early this morning, only had an hour before I had to leave for work though. Spent about 20 minutes in the character creator, usually take forever picking a name, but this time I picked the first thing that popped into my head which was “El Diablo”.
Spent probably 10 minutes in the Hunter’s dream after dying the first time purely because it took me that long to figure out how to get out of there and into Yharnam (duh). After all that faffing about I died about 3 or 4 times, so not counting load times I probably got about 10 minutes in Yharnam. Got to that first group of enemies that was standing in a circle iirc. Not gonna get anymore time with it till tomorrow night, going to watch Fast And Furious 7 shortly and working all day tomorrow. With any luck I’ll get a bit of time with Xenoblade during lunch tomorrow, that is if I’m able to take more time than it takes to actually eat.
Goddamn I hate school holidays.
I tried to kill that dog with my fists. Nearly had the bastard, too. Oh well.Found a video review of a Logitech MX Master Wireless Mouse…
And it’s making me gush about my Logitech Wireless M570 Trackball.
Seriously, I’ve used this over the past 10 months, and there’s very little chance of me going back to a regular mouse for my non-gaming needs.
Admittedly, I’d like to see some enhancements in the next version (a horizontal scroll wheel like in the MX line would be nice), and the rollers for the trackball do get a bit clogged once every 3-4 weeks, but otherwise, it’s a fantastic piece of hardware, one that I’m happy to have sitting at my computer desk.
I really have to preface this with *THIS IS NOT AN APRIL FOOLS JOKE*. It’s also past midday, so jokes are null and void now.
Today we got word that we’re going to be interviewing legendary developer John Romero next week sometime. At the moment, I’m emailing back and forth trying to work out something. So, what I’m saying is, we’re opening up the floodgates for people to drop in a question or two TAY if the interview goes forward (and there’s a 99% chance it will).
So if you want to ask John Romero a question, either email me at smcroft@hotmail.com with your name and question, or msg me on Steam Dr.Weresmurf or on Facebook at my profile, Steve Croft or my page ‘Stuff That Fascinates Us’.
So go ahead, we’re going to put in around the top five questions, so you only get to ask one each. Submit up to three if you like, in order of preference (incase the same one gets asked already 🙂 )
So yeah, we’ll be talking to John next week, throw your questions this way if possible!
Steve “Weresmurf” Croft
Is he going to make you his bitch? #suckitdown
I kid, I kid.
Bahahaha that’s totally gonna come up at sometime lol
HOW AWESOME IS DOOM?
Bahahah!
Can I ask here?
If so.
Is there any plans for a commander keen HD remake by any chance?
NUMENERA: TALES OF THE NINTH WORLD
The party beat up transdimensional brains and took their stuff, then made their way back to the top of Aurturi’s pit, where they used new goodies and @blaghman’s muscleitis to talk their way out of a potentially nasty situation!
Next week: New Adventure!
Thanks for playing guys!
cc @tech_knight @popdart5
Can’t wait for next session, I’m going to be deadly in combat now! >:D
I should have crazy ideas more often because it is awesome when they work out. Yay for the slicing and dicing Annoy-o-tron.
Yeah that was well played, but could’ve gone so horribly wrong lol. That’s probably the closest we’ve been to a PK in Numenera yet.
I was chewing through my pools with abandon because I wanted things to succeed. Also we spent pretty much the whole day inside the tomb so it was bound to happen that one of us was going to be low towards the end.
Still reckon we could have taken those guys at the end if need be.
As long as they didn’t focus you I can agree with that. If they came back to fight us I’d have increased chances of landing speed attacks by not only decreasing the difficulty by 1 (Which I had at Tier 3 but forgot to add that in on my character sheet as my hangouts crashed last time), but with my new Tier 4 trick, Analytical combat, in short I can spend intellect instead to apply effort to speed/might attacks, and remember the amount of edge I got there? hehe 🙂
Look at you Mr Fancypants with your Tier 4 abilities while I’m busy being a peasant on Tier 2. 😛
Fancypants with fabulous white boots and plenty of ranged weapons! 😀
Getting sleepy, methinks it’s time for bed.
This… this is April Fool’s stuff, right?
https://www.playstation.com/en-au/explore/playstation-flow/
Yes.
Parents went out to go to the easter show today. I was all set to demand where our showbags were when they got back… only to find out they did in fact bring a pair back for me and my sister. We just now tipped them out on the floor and split the takings between us.
Who needs growing up? 😛
When we were kids, my brother and I only really went to the Ekka like, two or three times, but it was still a tradition to read the show bag guide and pick what we would get. And the still-running joke to this day is that if you’re bad, you get the shitty Bertie Beetle bag, hahahah.
Heresy.
Bertie Beetle is the one true showbag.
Haha, I don’t think it was necessarily anything against Bertie Beetles – it was just that it was like, the very first showbag in the $1 bags listing. I would totally accept one now.
I’m going to text my brother about this.
“The price attached to show bags does not denote quality.” – The Bertie Bible, page 4, verse 8.
Allow Bertie to enter you both physically and mentally and see the light of the One True Showbag.
Rice be with you.
I sent him a photo of the Bertie Beetle bag and said, “Thinking of you.”
He texted back a link that opened to a Google search “late late late term sibling abortion.”
Yeah, I’m with Dan.
Bertie Beetle is the best! :O
The practical joke showbag was always my go-to when I was youngest, then at some point it ended up generally being the warhead and garfield bags. Pretty sure a whole load of old (old old….. oldoldoldoldold) lollies from easter showed passed are sitting in a (sealed) container buried somewhere in my room >_>
And.. I’m awake… of course…
…damn. 🙁
Morning all. I am really fucking tired. But I have an assignment to do. Must-not-sleep.
What’s your assignment on?
It’s a history one about Reconstruction after the American Civil War. (Weakly) Yay…
Crikey, that is a helluva subject. What are you studying?
America. From Civil War to Superpower.
Edit: I don’t know if you meant the topic that the assignment was from or the course itself.
Amazing, what a broad subject. Hope it goes well! Try to work in “R.O.C.K in the U.S.A!” in there and you’ll totally pass.
You’re welcome.
Maybe a bit after what I’m focusing on (by about a hundred years or so), but I’ll certainly try that.
Great. Now everyone’s looking at me, cause I’m dancing around the library, like a lunatic. I wonder what they’ll think when I start actually listening to the song.
Picked up This War of Mine last night since it was on sale and played it for about an hour. It took me that long for a scavenging mission to go wrong and cause me to lose one of my survivors. I think I made it to about day 8. Now that I have a better grasp of the mechanics I want to start over to plan better before the game actually gets tough.
It’s a really, really interesting game.
I’m waiting till this is on iPad but I’m really excited to play it.
Oh yeah, I think it would work really well on an iPad. One of those games you can just immediately see porting really well, like FTL.
IT’S COMING TO IPAD?!
I have two games I play on iPad, Hearthstone and very, very, very rarely The Room when I feel I need to train my brain a little.
I suppose Hearthstone and The Room do the same thing though, right?
I wouldn’t have put The Room (puzzles) and Hearthstone (cards) together, but I guess there is strategy to both.
80 Days is still hands down my favourite every iOS/tablet game.
What’s thaaaaat?
OH BOY.
So it’s based on Jules Verne’s Around the World in 80 Days – you play as his valet, Jean Passepartout, and basically have to manage your time, finances and route. You travel from city to city to country to country, plotting the fastest way back to London, and getting into mischief on the way!
Technically, I guess it’s like a text adventure, but has a really nice graphic overlay, and the writing is outstanding. You get this wonderful sense of your relationship – good or begrudging – with Phileas Fogg, as you encounter new people in new towns. There’s romance, adventure, intrigue, murder!
I give it five out of five amazings.
THURSDAY TAYDRENALIN SHOT
It’s Easter from tomorrow, known for the resurrection (allegedly) of Jayzus.
Which historical figure (Which, in the case of JC, is again, allegedly) would be your first choice for a resurrection?
Rule is it’s a was-dead-but-is-now-alive thing, not a walking dead/lich/revenant/vampire thing. Just now a living person again.
How historical? Like, ye olde times and shit, I’d say Cleopatra. It’d be interesting to get the story straight from the lady herself.
Modern historical; Nikola Tesla. But in his heyday, not in his ‘in-love-with-a-pigeon’ end of days.
Even in his heyday Tesla was as nutty as fruit and nut.
But BRILLIANT.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
See? See what I did there? Do you get it?
Actually… I don’t
Brilliant – as in light? Because of the light bulbs he created…
Tesla wasn’t really a lightbulb guy.
Edison, certainly, and Westinghouse. Tesla worked for Westinghouse for a bit on the system, but not so much on the sources.
Some random celebrity that died 5-10 years ago. People would lose their shit.
Maybe we can resurrect Pauly Shore’s career!
HIYOoooooo°°°°.
Kinda want to bring back Galileo, if only to show that his theories were accurate and that it was wrong for him to be persecuted.
Pending that, probably John Curtin because damn he was a good prime minister.
I know it’s recent, but Robin Williams. I would already say he’s a historical figure.
Hell, maybe we can make a trade. Adam Baldwin seems fair right?
Adam certainly seems to have served his purpose, since Firefly isn’t coming back.
Yeah, I don’t think Joss Whedon would ever work with him again.
Gregor Mendel.
So I could accuse that fucker of faking his data. Fuck you, Gregor Mendel, nothing has results that perfect!
Pratchett, easy.
Well since Tesla’s taken already, then why not Turing 😛
I’d pick Plato, his ideas on physical training and life philosophy speak to me.
Morning.
Just beat the second boss in Bloodborne, it was silly took me 4 tries, first 2 I call BS the third was my fault and the fourth I completely destroyed it, I barely got touched, a celebratory dance ensued.
Bloodborne Question
Regarding little girl quest line (the one with the music box)
does anyone know the right way to progress the little girl’s quest line? I’ve read a lot of things that all contradict eachother. So I think I need to send her to the Cathedral because I read she dies at the clinic (may also die at the cathedral), do I give her the red brooch and if so when? I read giving that to her at the wrong time can halt the quest too.So far as I’m aware, there is no good option. Sending her away leads to her death, and I’m fairly sure giving her the brooch will do the same. The wrong thing to do, so far as I can tell, is to not tell her anything, because then the quest just ends (though that may be the morally right thing, I’m not sure).cool, I read it affects which ending you get so I’m hesitantAhh, so far as I’m aware, there’s three endings, and you can directly choose the main two (the other one is based on collecting certain items), and the girl does affect that. But, I could well be completely wrong, since everything is in mad flux with the community right now (and even Dark Souls, a few years down the line, has conflicting wiki things).Morning TAYbes! It’s sunny and a little overcast today; I’m torn between wanting it to rain all day tomorrow (sleeping in and movies and games weather) and being dry so that I can go for a moto ride.
Either way, today we’re having our office easter egg hunt and I cannot wait. This shit gets fierce. I was super super sick this time last year (pleurisy and a cracked rib) so I could not participate fully, but this year, I am on board. I forgot we require an easter hat or bonnet to participate; I think I’ll get my with the little hair accessory I just made from junk in my desk – it’s a piece of cardboard that I wrote RABBIT SEASON on and drew some eggs and shit on there. It’ll be fine. Also, I’m wearing a jacket with good pockets for cramming chocolate into.
A client gave our office a single chocolate bunny for Easter to share between all four of us.
It was not pretty.
Did someone smash it and distribute the pieces, or did you all play nicely and say, “Oh no, you can have it… ” but secretly want it for yourself?
It was left on my desk to guard from everybody until after lunch.
I went out to have lunch, came back and it had no head.
This made me laugh far more than it should have.
YOU HAVE A CRIME TO SOLVE!
Inspector @sernobulus, you have a case!
Scene: The gritty streets of 1920’s New York. The camera opens up across the road from a storefront currently covered in tarp… or 1920’s tarp I guess. Did they have tarp in the 20s? Anyway, people and carriages and wagons cross in front of the camera as the camera slowly moves towards the sole figure standing still in front of the store.
The camera cuts to a side shot of the man beaming at the storefront.
“Finally. I’ve made it… my own business. I’ve worked hard to get to this point and nothing’s going to ruin this mo-”
The 1920’s tarp equivalent gets taken off by two random men. I guess it’s their job to take tarps off things?
The man’s face falls.
“Ah geez.”
The camera cuts back to the shot across the street facing the man’s back and storefront.
Big letters have been lovingly hand painted onto the storefront. They read:
“NOB INVESTIGATIONS”
The man slowly facepalms.
Poor Nob, in the competitive scene of investigation, he just can’t compete with Dick.
@blaghman I thought his business as nob the inspector was to be a private dick?
@powalen was nowhere to be found when the crime in question happened. It is almost the perfect crime but your big mistake was hiring me! Gentlemen! Take @powalen away.
I would’ve gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for that meddling Nob.
Well in business parley there was some “downsizing” on Pow’s team that day
In my office everyone gets one of those 100 gram Lindt bunnies. I normally take it home to my wife.
Not this year.
I am going to stepcount the shit out of this weekend.
HEY JANE! HOPE YOU’RE FEELING BETTER NOW!
Oh, was I not feeling well? I don’t remember? Haha, maybe I was just sulking, but THANKS BUDDY OL’ PAL 😀
Oh, I missed the last year part and read it as last week! Reading comprehension! WHO NEEDS IT? 😛
Hahaha, right! Well thank you anyway! I was so sick that even in peak hour, no one would sit next to me on the train. It was kiiiiinda great.
It is always good when people don’t sit next to you. More so on public transport.
Even though I’m not super into the character, I actually hope the Deadpool movie is good.
Cautiously optimistic after that proof of concept that leaked last year.
Tim Miller as the director is also encouraging. He’s the head of Blur Studios, who has an impressive back catalogue.
Still never made that Goon movie they teased, though.
Apparently they couldn’t get funding 🙁
Such horse shit. It looked so great.
I’ve never understood Deadpool as a character, my only knowledge of him comes from playing Marvel vs Capcom and seeing him pop up in Facebook memes occasionally.
Movie Deadpool: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gn4Z-U9OyuA
Wow, he seems like kinda a bad ass.
Damn you spam, why do you have to be so tempting? “Hours of perfect gladsomeness”? How can I NOT click that???
Woohoo I successfully crossed the void (several 32.4ly jumps…) I’m now 2000ly from Mu Cephei.
Smoke me a kipper, I’ll be back for breakfast.
Mostly Harmless, Merchant, Pathfinder… 🙂
trikeabout? More like spaceshipabout
Yep! spaceship. Spaceship! SPACESHIP!!!!!
Loving it at the moment. Gonna circle back to civilisation, and then head for the Core, see if I can catch Pixel on his way to Sag A* in his Adder.
Man I don’t really understand the significance of what you’re saying but it soudns exciting.
Stoke me a clipper, I’ll be back for Christmas.
I’m on a mammoth Elite: Dangerous expedition, and currently 4000ly from our humble home of Sol. I set out travelling spinwards along our local arm, visiting a couple of impressive nebulae along the way. I’m trying to get to Mu Cephei, the largest star visible with the naked eye from Earth. Last night I managed to cross the gap between our local arm and the adjacent arm, hopping between some stars right at the limit of my ship’s jump range. Lots of empty space out here. I’m in a much denser region of space now and progressing nicely.
And well played, new Ace.
We just had three types of birthday cake in the office kitchen. Oof.
We just had the Catering Manager, in pink bunny ears, wander through IT with a tray of Hot Cross Buns. Nom. 😀
This is the kind of joke I can get behind.
1. Search for any song on YouTube
2. Play any video on YouTube. Click the “Add Music” button in the bottom right (HTML5 only)
3. Turn on auto-play…
Tune in to http://www.5yyy.com.au for my radio show, no requests taken for this week, though last weeks requests are planned to play during this week’s show.
Huh, the two albums are gone from Club Nintendo already.
Wow, only page 5! I apologize, I’ve not posted much and need to lift my game.
So what are ya’ll up to for the Easter break?
Eating chocolate and hot cross buns, followed by sleeping in a food coma.
Sounds glorious!
If my calcluations are correct…
I shall eat more chocolate this weekend then I should?
Today I treated myself to $10 of cooked fresh tiger prawns with home made cocktail sauce for lunch.
Deeeeelicious!
Edit: Why didn’t the prawn share his toys?
He was a little shellfish. #pagesixGood lunch!
I had an awesome kebab yesterday for dinner! First time I’ve had one in years! Was so good!!
Wish they made prawn kebabs though! That could be so damn good with cocktail sauce!!!
Page six get?
I had a conversation the other day with someone who works in soil remediation. Nice guy, really down to earth.
OK, sorry for the dirty joke #dadjokepagesix #wegotthere! #hi@strange
scooped by a minute but I’ll take it!
HANDHELD XENOBLADE! EEK! Miss you guys. Okay, bye! 😀
@greenius
My Target didn’t have any!
We recently rearranged desks at work to make more space for new devs coming in over the next few weeks. This means there’s currently a bunch of empty desks.
My workplace put easter eggs on every desk, including the ones that aren’t being used. The temptation is strong…
Oh right, page 6…
Did you hear about the Italian that died?
He pasta way.I’ve already eaten four today.. HAPPY EASTER, TAYBIES!
You’ve eaten four dead Italians? Jeez, man.
You know that the Catholic Easter tradition generally has you eating only one guy, and he’s not an Italian… right? Just a heads-up, there.
Well if you don’t take them someone else will.
@haggis it’s your time to shine

She turned out to be a hoe.Bought a new blindfold yesterday… I can’t see myself wearing it…
I spelled out “marry me?” in balloons outside the house of a girl I met on the internet. When I finally met her in person for the first time, I popped the question.

Hey DC.
Hey homonym named guy who we don’t speak about in public any more!
Aw, unloved 🙁
We call you by your first name! And by we, I mean no one since all my hanging out people have left town/the country. I HAVEN’T BEEN OUTSIDE IN TWO WEEKS. 😛

Weren’t you in Jamaica?
DC, come outside, then you’ll be outside of your hated buildings.

He could be taller, though. Much taller.
Is so too!
Haaaahahaha
Is it holiday time yet?!
I’m shutting my computer down right now
So what does happen to nitrogen when the sun rises
It become daytrogenEASTER EGG HUNT UPDATE.
So we just had it; last year there was one golden egg, but we had less staff. This year there was SEVEN golden eggs (much more staff) and I found TWO OF THEM (but I gave one away to a coworker I like). Mwahahah. And a bunch of medium and little eggs. I killed it.
We ran a very socialist easter egg hunt with playgroup. All the eggs got put into a bucket and then divided into all the little easter baskets to take home. The problem with preschooler easter egg hunts is that the 4 year olds get ALL THE EGGS while the one year olds just stand there holding one egg wondering what the all fuss is.
Damn commies
I remember they did that when I was in primary school, there was 1 massive egg and 24 kids looking for it. I saw it at the same time others saw it so we were all sprinting at it and I, having watched NFL replays 2 days before, just scooped up that egg and ran right through the others. The teacher took the egg off me as the other kids complained and the teacher said I was too rough.
What’s black and looks great on a lawyer?
A doberman.UPDATE:
Scholar of First Sin is officially available on Steam as of right now, folks! \o/
Nintendo direct man, Nintendo direct.
I want to buy ALL the stuff! Pre-order ALL the things.
Yoshi, Splatoon, Fatal frame V etc.
I feel weirdly out of the loop. Like, I didn’t watch it myself but from the announcements that are around the place, I feel like it didn’t really announce anything at all? But everyone seems hyped for some reason.
There are lots of amiibos.
Yoshi’s wooly world comes with a wool yoshi amiibo. Actual wool.
Splatoon has it’s own amiibos which unlocks missions. There’s also a special squid amiibo with the game.
Fatal frame V which I didn’t think was going to be released, is being released.
There’s a fire emblem cross Shin megami tensei RPG which looks awesome.
The new fire emblem game sounds amazing. I like that you have to choose a side and will disappoint the other.
The animal crossing game looks fun too.
The way I see it they didn’t really announce much other than Amiibo’s, and I’ve stopped caring about them completely because they’re so friggin’ hard to find.
Me too, I gave up on trying to find them, I’m hoping they won’t be locking away too much content or I think I’ll reconsider what games I’ll be getting from Ninty.
This has me uneasy. Like… do they do anything other than that? As in do they have a “proper” function, like how Smash has them as an AI kind of pet? The thing that uses the storage on the chip rather than just unlocking random stuff in whatever other games. I don’t like the idea of them becoming just a bunch of “keys”.
I’m not sure. You gets missions and you receive rewards for completing them.
That’s why you’ve gotta synchro-watch it with @powalen and I!
According to my skypelogs, it was on way too early 😛
But we synchro-watched it at 6pm!
Which was too late, all the news was out there by then!
I only saw the Smash news so most of it was new to me 😀
Dark Souls 2: Scholar of First Sin get! \o/
Me too, but on PS4 o/

Survivor Discussion @greenius (who else is watching this season? I don’t even know!)
Anything that makes Rodney angry is perfect by me. It’s hilarious. Also, it’s been ages since I’ve seen a successful idol play, fantastic. I like Jen too so it’s just a bonus. No collars all the way!No idea why the two white collars voted with the blues though… What did they have to gain with that? Seems like a stupid idea to me.
@sughly @phoenix @mrtaco @masha2932 @f4ction
Oh man! Damage control is gonna be crazy next time. Whites went with Blues, Will went with Blues (lol single Hali vote – not sure why would he go with them?). I’ve still got people I like all over and on different sides so I dunno! I’m liking this season better than the last though 😀I haven’t watched this season since episode 1 😀
Worst.
Can someone tell me where this week went? I know it’s short and all but I had a proverbial mountain of shit left to do when I left tonight…
Got round to adding a few people on 3DS so far have added @blaghman @beavwa @jimu @freezespreston @greenius @liondrive @negativezero @strange

Playing Bravely Default first up… and I must say… for a handheld it’s pretty damn stunning!
Bravely Default is a fun game. I should really get around to finishing it someday…
I’d call you a monster, but those late chapters are just……ugh.

Make sure to make use of me in Bravely when your health is low 😉

Spoilers!
Push through the late chapters. They get ugh, but pick up amazingly
It’s worth it just because the final boss music is rad>
My other 3DS is 3668-7797-0858. Added you on both.
I just finished Bloodborne. I have one huge complaint about the game that isn’t really a spoiler.
Please developers, if you’re going to have New Game Plus, DO NOT THROW US INTO IT IMMEDIATELY. Give us the friggen option to do so. I just had the ‘ignore final boss’ ending because I misread the final choice and quitting out didn’t prevent the save.
Now I have to think about restarting all over again, or pushing through in New Game Plus.
Anyways, I’ll give some thoughts.
I think Bloodborne is an amazing game that brings back some of the Dark Souls elements that Dark Souls 2 was missing. The boss fights are amazing and each new area is different in approach and enemy types.
However, there are some things I was disappointed by. Armour stats are pointless when you can’t upgrade them and without Humanity to lose, losing some echoes is less of a punishment. Could have easily done that with Insight.
So I find it both way better than Dark Souls, but also a little be less.
How does the difficulty compare with Dark/ Demon’s Souls? I didn’t play any previous ones but I’m really enjoying Bloodborne, they seem to have it nicely balanced, challenging but fair I think.
You bought it? Sweet, I was scared to buy in case I sux
Whether you bought it or not, you still sux! :p We still love ya though! 😉
It’s because I can sux a golf ball through a hose pipe
Yeah, it’s not too bad. I haven’t had too much trouble yet. Just need to pay attention.
I got Freedom Wars on Vita
Pretty cool. Monster Hunter cross third person shooter cross all sorts.
my Vita won’t charge :(.
I hope I can get it going.

Hi,
I have a job trial on Tuesday for a Chef Apprenticeship.
Thats all
I’m looking forward to the Kickstarter for “cooking with cam”
Or “Giovanni the Gourmet”
Giovanni the Gourmet where everything is Red Eye and the show is just Red Eye
In no time you will be a master with your own space armour and killing aliens.
I like the idea that it is his ship that upgrades
He starts with an Apprenticeship then he gets
Pupilship
Graduateship
Mastership
Craftmanship
Bossship
@powalen and I are hunting innocent monsters later on! I’ll probably play a few times during this long weekend 😀
Anyone else interested?
@piat @gutsoup @beavwa (not sure who else is in G)
I AM ALSO HUNTING! Just in a different game.
HAPPY BLOODBORNE WEEKEND EVERYONE!
I’m doing both!
: – D
Yeah I’m keen, let me know
Whoops! Forgot to mention the time but Pow said 1ish?
Is that alright with y’all? (@beavwa)
I might be a bit later but see what I can do, if I’m on Steam I’m around
Ah, I was only keeping half an eye on twitter notifications… Give me a yell if you need a spot filled later this weekend.
Will do! We got our fix for today but I’ll probably play again this long weekend.
I just reached G3!
Could be interesting to see how badly I do now that brain is rewired for Bloodborne.
But hell, if you need a 4th, it’s at least some aggro away from running hunts with 3.
Yeah, in my early hours of Bloodborne I had the MH4U control scheme imprinted and it took a while to re-adjust 🙁
Sounds good, I’ll try and be there.
Playing Angry Birds: Star Wars and trying to explain “the force” to my nearly 7 year old son.

Happy Good Friday Folks!
This was my backyard this morning, 60 kids and 7,000 Easter eggs.
http://imgur.com/tVKYRPY
Did you get your shotgun and scream at them to get off your lawn?
How much did 7000 eggs set you back? Also you have a pen in your backyard?
Just found out this is a thing.
https://www.ebgames.com.au/ps4-206402-Final-Fantasy-X–X-2-HD-Remaster-Limited-Edition-PlayStation-4
Might have to grab a copy and do a playthrough before I start Type-0.
The playstation and xbox suck. Its backward thinking. They need to be reduced to a microchip in the hand controller that will allow you to walk up to any damn tv and wifi down a game for a dollar. And instead of ps4 or xbox, lets call it the donk.
Quiet day.
Quite.
Rather.
Indubitably.
Max has found her way in front of my monitors…
#gookyget
Interesting start to the morning…
Sisters pet rabbit got spooked when she went outside (since its quite timid, and was probably asleep)
Ended up somehow managing to ram it’s head and front paws through its cage bars (which were quite thin). Still have no idea how the poor thing managed to do that…
Anyway, woke up at 6:30am to the sounds of a squealing distressed rabbit, and the sound of my sister panicking not knowing what to do.
Ended up having to get a friend around who had bolt-cutters to cut the bars off.
Rabbit seems to be doing fine now though.
Still just seems a little spooked is all.
Also, I’ve been so busy with uni lately that I completely forgot that it is Easier today…
*refresh*
How goes Maple Leaf?
I’ve been stuck* for a while :P. I actually thought about our random discussions when I was playing it earlier today 😀
(*too lazy to learn the rest)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fagH03fxY7c the 1:44ish part onwards. Just never bothered to learn the left hand and put it together. I’m spending most of my time Monster Hunting or Bloodborning 😛
I’ve been “stuck” too… don’t think I’d hit the keys since January til a couple of days ago >_>
I had the same thought thing when doing the same. Mindlink 😛
Oh, boring…
Friday afternoon question!
What movies have you been meaning to get around to watching, but never seem to find the time for?
Mine are
– Pulp Fiction
– 3:10 to Yuma
– Monsters University
– How to Train Your Dragon (both)
You really need to remedy this situation, immediately.
I’ve been meaning to, for a while now! :O
I keep getting yelled at for not having seen them either. Damn fanboys and/or girls 😛
Though yeah, Pulp Fiction is rad.
They’re like… 7/10s. I enjoyed them, but I have no idea why people love them so.
7/10? So literally the worst thing ever?
They’re movies, not video games!
I think the thing with cult movies like Pulp Fiction is that even though they’re not necessarily the greatest movies, they have moments that stick with you and make you want to watch them again and again. The Fifth Element is one. It’s not a great movie, but it’s just so fun to watch.
Lies!
The 5th element is a great movie
THE GREATEST OF MOVIES!
Don’t get me wrong, I love it. But it didn’t exactly set the world on fire when it first released.
Way too many movies on that list…
But I did FINALLY get around to watching In Bruges last night after years of wanting to see it (thanks Netflix!).
Soooo… wadja think?
SO GOOD!
Didn’t know director writey guy also did Seven Psychopaths (which I liked but Bruges was definitely better)
Bruges was a bad choice for last night though. I was kind of in a “eh I need something to watch so I think I’ll watch a Comedy” mood and while it was funny it was also dark and sad and I felt sad and aww 🙁
I bought a bunch of cheapo running clothes online recently. None of it has arrived yet but I’m sure it’ll still get the job done.
…however, I ended up buying so much cheapo stuff that I probably could’ve (and should’ve) spent that amount on something decent :P. I just wanted shirts in different colours so I can easily change teams when playing soccer at work 😀
Although now that the weather is changing I am missing a lightweight water and windproof jacket. While looking up one of the more pricer ones (a.k.a. overpriced “brand” name ones) I found one that fits the bill AND it’s also in green!
I MUST HAVE IT. They know my weakness! D:
I’m still shattered I missed out on the green version of the running shoes I wanted/have. I couldn’t find a place that shipped the green ones to Australia for a reasonable price so I had to get some crummy “other colour” ones. UGH YUCK (there’s still a tiny bit of green on them so they’re okay :P)
I needa get me some running clothes. I don’t have anything other than rugby shorts and it’s too cold for dat and I wanna start running again!
I was just gonna go to like Lowes or something 😛 I don’t think it gets cheaper or nastier!
I got stuff from Sports Direct. Just make sure it’s a sweat wicking material! (poly)
Target and BigW both have pretty decent workout clothes. I’d rather save money on clothes and spend extra on shoes.
Yeah! @benj I’ve been using some Kmart stuff for a while too. I think was like $4 for a cheap polyester t-shirt? 😀
I’m still sad I didn’t get the green Kayanos…
Green Kayanos would be pretty cool. Don’t forget to check places like CatchoftheDay – they often have sales on last-season shoes.
Hmm I might take a trip over the river to where Kmart/Target/BigW are all in one spot sometime next week 😛
I bit the bullet and bought a copy of Fight Night Round 3 on Xbox for $6.90 with free postage.
😐
So pre-orders for most of those new amiibo that were announced yesterday are already sold out at EB Games 😛
Hopefully I’ll still be unemployed once they hit so I can run around and grab them all 😛
…assemble!
Was looking at getting Dark Souls II: Scholars of the First Sin on PC but apparently they haven’t fixed the durability issue from the original. The higher your frame rate, the quicker your durability drops. 60fps = 200% durability reduction.
Considering one of the “selling” points of this is the higher frame rate, that’s a pretty big issue.
It’s a feature, not a bug. Built in Hard Mode.
@pupp3tmast3r
Well today was my older sisters birthday so obviously I couldn’t spend the entire day at the office, but regardless I tried to attend todays raid at home, it wasn’t a good experience I could barely heal gruul with the moderate lag and had to excuse myself from the raid at oregorger since the lag was starting to peak at 3000 ms….
Made me realise its about time I excused myself from raiding all-together, I’m obviously not in a real life situation that allows me to play MMOs and driving to and from work to play is starting to feel like overkill.
As for the alternatives I’d rather not stretch myself if the only benefit is I gain the ability to raid at home… which only leaves one option and that’s to leave WoW.
All good red; for what it’s worth I’d like to thank you for all the help and support you gave me throughout the past couple of months. You know where I’ve come to with raiding myself and have been looking to retire out of it as well. However I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how much I’ve appreciated yours and trench’s commitment, support and skill, I can easily say without you 2 guys as my core foundation the guild would’ve never even gotten off the ground.
With regards to playing something else I wasn’t looking to rush into anything however as mentioned my biggest qualm with looking to get out of WoW was not having a game to play with friends I’ve gotten used to kicking back with over the weekend online. If there is something you can play from home and it’s multi-player feel free to hit me up any time =]
Edit: For whats its worth I am going to missing doing some co-op content with you and trench!
So, you guys gonna jump back into Mario Kart when the DLC hits (April 23rd), or a little before for some practice?
I’d be keen to play some more Mario Kart with people 🙂
Maybe on the before but I’m definitely interested in playing when 200cc and the new DLC tracks hit.
What about you, rivals? @powalen @dc @sughly
Did you watch that 200cc video that was just on Kotaku?
It looks crazy!
Fun, but crazy! :O
I’m always keen for some Mario Kart! (or some Smash Bros!)
Yeah, it looks insane D:
GOTTA GO FAST!
I’m not known for my quickness.
Joke stealer! :O
Not to mention our hearts!
YES! Looks like insanity in kart form and I want to be part of it
IT’S SUGHLY!
HE’S BACK!
You’ve got until tomorrow night to catch up on Survivor 😛
Nahhhhh. Still working on the game T__T will have to catch up next week, should have the final art assets out of the way this week
Is the release date public yet? Got a time frame? I wanna know ;D
Good luck friendo!
Nah no official date :'( the announcement shouldnt be far off… I imagine they are holding off in case the cutscene takes longer than we guessed ^^;
@mrtaco
Aw 😛
I was too lazy to redeem all the points I had the other day for the Mario CD and figured if it was still available on the weekend I’d get it. It’s gone.
No biggie since I literally would not have listened to it but I don’t know what else to get now :/ hmm… I don’t even know how many points I have left to redeem 😀
2slo!
I’m not known for my quickness.

How goes Maple Leaf?
How goes what now?
well…?
I have no idea what “Maple Leaf” is…

Why can’t they make Dark Souls but in the art style of Captain Toad.
I would purchase that.

Whatever that is, it looks like it has a huge erection.
Just saying.
Dude that’s a fungus! I dun even wanna know the kind of erections you’ve seen!! Ewwww!! :p
I don’t know if it’s just the mobile version playing up, but it’s all distorted for me! :O
Definitely ain’t no fungus on my end! XP
I’m glad there’s no fungus on your end, that could be very unpleasant.
haha yeah it is distorted, but can make out it’s a mario mushy!
It looks like a side on view of an 8-bit man, in a cap, with a huge erection!
It hasn’t been page 18 in so long! :O
Also why is it so cold. Damn Earth has completely skipped light sweater season and gone straight to winter.
Light sweater season is my season, dagnabbit.
It is horrible.
Happy Easter!
Hoppy Easter!
TAY seems deader than usual…
Easter long weekend.
It’s usually pretty comatose at this time of the year.
Hola, Zero! 😀
It has been particularly quiet these past few days :'(
Bloodborne weekend does that.
It’s almost like people have other things to do! What a crazy concept…
(I NEED MORE REFRESH MATERIAL PLEASE)
PENIS!
You. I like you.
Mushroom?
I’d help but I have a plane to catch. 🙁
How selfish!
God dammit. Another Firefox update, and now it’s even crashier than the last one. Freezes up every few seconds instead of minutes.
lol firefox.. you said a dirty word!
I still haven’t played Bloodborne since release day. I’ve been way too busy. I’d be playing it today, but Mr. Strange has been playing all weekend. I now know way more about the game than I wanted to. I’m also wishing I’d chosen the hairdo with the long ponytail because that’s what he has and it looks really awesome bobbing around as he runs.
One good thing about him playing all day today though is that because I put my daughter’s new bed together by myself it was his turn to deal with dinner. So because he can’t tear himself away from the game we’ve ordered dinner delivered from a Pakistani BBQ place. 😀
Easter makes it a great excuse to stay in and order dinner! Not that he needs one, but might as well have that too! 😉
Hey, who do people want to see in Smash bros?
I like the idea of Amaterasu, but I’ve also heard people saying Banjo kazooie which is another good choice.
I really need to just look at my game collection I think
1000 more Fire Emblem people with swords 😛
Platinum exclusive stuff would work well like Bayonetta or The Wonderful 100/Wonder Red
EDIT: and swimsuit Sharla 😀
Viewitful Joe
Wonder Red
Tingle
His Final Smash would involve a white, window-less van.
I’m not that familiar with Nintendo characters, but my picks would be:
– Bayonetta (Bayonetta)
– Waluigi (Mario)
– Sceptile (Pokemon)
– Jack (Madworld)
– Monster Hunter (dur)
Outside of (now) exclusive characters, I’d go:
– Amaterasu (Okami)
– Rayman (dur)
– Batman (dur)
– Banjo Kazooie (dur)
Otherwise bring back Snake!
Snake? SNAKE?! SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!!!
There is only one answer.
Waluigi.
Chris Benoit.
…
But, in all seriousness, probably Bayonetta.
I kind of going to back Patricia here and say Goku. And make him stupidly broken and overpowered because the competitive scene tears would be the most delicious thing ever.
More realistically, why not Jill Valentine? Resident Evil has been on Nintendo and there’s enough signature weapons to make it work.
IMPULSE BUY ALL THE THINGS!
Having money is dangerous! 😛
I’m gonna be so dope with my Jaybird Bluebuds X. Awe yeh.
@redartifice @tech_knight @freezespreston @sernobulus @negativezero @beeawwb @rize
Hey RPG people. No Pathfinder tomorrow night because of the Easter Monday stuff. I wanted to post this now because I’m likely not going to be online tomorrow at all. We’ll reconvene in two weeks on the 20th of April.
I’m still in Japan so wouldn’t be able to make it anyway.
Hoo-boy!
Page 7 by Sunday!
TAY was crazy busy this week!
I wonder if well be getting a new TAY…
I hope not, I wanna get to page 18!
Woo! Allied with the Empire! Finally 😛
Might be time to get some exploration going.
Double woo, found a system to mark my name on! Sorta. Someone else had already been there, but left most of the stuff behind. Don’t care if it’s scraps, I’ll take ’em 😛 Especially within 100ly of civilised space.
Triple woo! Got proper ones now! First a single star by itself. Then a binary star system. Now a proto-star system full of planets. No more scraps for Zoidberg 😛
