If you've been having issues logging into the PlayStation Network, you weren't the only ones because the entire network has been down for the majority of the day so far. However, I have good news. Things might be a little slow for a while, but according to Sony's official service status everyone should be able to (eventually) get back online.
Sony hasn't issued an official statement or anything regarding the cause of the outage, but this might be an indication as to what's been going on:
That's a GIF from the Norse Corp attack map, a real-time map of cyber attacks. "Every second, Norse collects and analyses live threat intelligence from darknets in hundreds of locations in over 40 countries," Norse Corp says.
There's an incredible amount of traffic flooding out of China towards the west coast of the United States, some of which may or may not be directed towards Sony's servers. Nothing is confirmed yet, although it wouldn't be surprising if a few groups came out of the woodwork over the next 12-24 hours to claim responsibility for the outage.
