This July, Toho Studios is releasing a brand new Godzilla film in Japan. We’ve see the teasers (here and here), but now, let’s get a close-up look at the production maquette.

According to Famitsu and Kaiju-Japan, the first maquette was on display at the recent Nico Nico Chokaigi event in Chiba, outside Tokyo.

Artist Takayuki Takeya sculpted the prototype from co-directors Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi‘s designs and concepts. The miniature served as a reference as the production progressed.

Now that’s a Godzilla!
That tail though! (centre of gravity anyone?)
Looking forward to this, especially after learning Anno was involved.
Presumably the tail would be quite good for when he’s underwater.
