Modern Warfare Remastered Requires Infinite Warfare To Run

A lot of Call of Duty fans are more excited over the remastered version of the original Modern Warfare than Infinite Warfare's future shenanigans, but they can't have one without the other. Either a full digital purchase of Infinite Warfare or the physical disc is required for the remaster to run. Modern Warfare Remastered is a standalone downloadable game only available to players who purchase a special edition of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, a fact that's rubbed many players looking to score the remaster on its own the wrong way. One possible solution would have been to purchase Infinite Warfare at retail, use the code to download the remaster and then sell/trade-in the newer game. According to wording on the Modern Warfare Remastered website spotted by Charlie Intel, that's a no-go.

At launch, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered will contain only 10 MP maps from the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare game. Additional MP maps will be made available by 12/31/2016. Modern Warfare Remastered is a full game download (game disc must be inserted to play Modern Warfare Remastered).

Players who purchase the digital special edition of Infinite Warfare will not require a physical disc of course, as their ownership is pretty much irreversible.

PlayStation 4 players who have purchased the Infinite Warfare Digital Legacy or Digital Deluxe edition will automatically gain access to the Modern Warfare Remastered campaign on October 5. Retail customers who have pre-purchased the game through participating retailers (EB Games and JB Hi-Fi in Australia) will have to complete their purchase (pay in full) in order to receive a code to download Remastered.

I for one cannot wait for Battlefield 1. Its so sad they are nerfing horses.....

(game disc must be inserted to play Modern Warfare Remastered).

Is there any mention of how this will affect the PC release? (or is this not coming to PC?)
COD4 still looks brilliant on my PC but I think i'd much prefer the original over the remaster for classic LAN fun, less authentication issues for servers

CoD 4 was pretty much the last "LAN" game that has ever been released. Everything since seems to require internet in same way other another.

It'll be a Steam Activated game. Previous CoD Entries from MW2 onwards used Steam, no doubt it will carry over.

It may have LAN but cracked copies will be nearly non-existant (Especially if they're using that recent DRM that's halted the cracking scene)

yeh, I had a feeling this might be the case.
I think since I already own CoD4 I wont bother with this since MW2 was the last one I played as I kind lost touch with where COD was going.
        Classic FTW!

Sooo, the headline should probably be, "Players Annoyed by Infinite Warfare Requirement Upset Again That Devs Anticipated Their Planned Cunning Workaround?" ...Yeah, doesn't really roll off the tongue.

That still has a better ring to it than "People still hate DRM, will Pre-Order the game anyway"

Doesn't all dlc require the main game (disc or license) to run on consoles?

MAIN game being the keyword here. You're given the remastered game as a separate download, and you're required to have a different game in your console to play it.. That's straight up bullshit and it's precisely to stop people from trading in the Halo-Knock off that no one wants.

Funny, I though the keywords were dlc.
