Overwatch’s Next Update Will Add Player Reporting On Consoles

A major ongoing problem with the console versions of Overwatch will soon be a thing of the past, according to game director Jeff Kaplan. Along with the promised deathmatch modes, update 1.14 will implement player reporting for the Xbox One and PS4.

Kaplan revealed the tidbit recently in a post on Blizzard’s Overwatch forum:

Reporting on console will be available when patch 1.14 goes live (the patch that has DM and TDM and is currently on the PTR for testing).

The game director goes on to state that the reporting system as a whole is “very much an ongoing development”.

We are working on increased punishments for high frequency offenders, email notifications when your reports result in disciplinary action (we’re experimenting with this right now and we’ll expand this as we refine it) and eventually notifications in the game client when your report results in disciplinary action.

No hard date for the patch’s release, but given it’s undergoing public testing, it can’t be far off.
