Skaven Ratted Out As Total War: Warhammer 2’s Fourth Race

As predicted when first announced, the fourth race to join the ranks of Creative Assembly’s Total War: Warhammer 2 is the rat-like Skaven. Rather than crank out a cinematic trailer to show them off, the developer has gone with an in-engine demo instead.

The Skaven join the game’s other races — the High Elves, Dark Elves and Lizardmen — and are described by Creative Assembly thusly:

Their motives obscured, the devious Skaven are a highly numerous species who inhabit vast subterranean lairs. Now, their time of prophecy is upon us, and this verminous Race have emerged to spread pestilence and mayhem across the face of the New World.

To complement the announcement, CA also published the following poster:

While there was little doubt the Skaven would make an appearance in the sequel, it’s nice to have it official.

  • Once again Chaos are a pre-order bonus. It’s like they know it is shit practise but don’t care because they know people will pay.

    • there is no chaos preoder bonus for TWH2. the Norsca Faction update is for the first game and can be brought seperately

      • On top of which, I’d say they stepped up their game pretty solidly with the quality of the DLC for the first game… To the point where I’m far less wary about the second game as a whole now.

        • definitely. Wood Elves, Bretonia and Norsca were just fantastic. Beastmen were a definate improvement over Chaos, though in reality Chaos was never really supposed to be a playable faction and i expect them to get a massive overhaul come game 3 which is expected to be Chaos Demons, Chaos Dwarfs and Ogre Kingdoms. Tomb Kings and Araby will be DLC for Warhammer 2 because Nagash’s Black pryamid has been confirmed to be in the game according to PCGAMESN
